Some liberals have problems with some aspects of CRT, 1619 being one of them. It’s probably unhealthy to dismiss anti-CRT as just a republican thing.

    • RE Vanella says:

If anyone has a problem with CRT b/c of 1619 they don’t understand what they’re talking about.

  2. RE Vanella says:

    #1. 1619 Project isn’t CRT.

#2. I critique CRT from Marxist perspective as essentialism, which I disagree with.

Reactionaries have no idea what either of these mean.

This is why I need to do a full episode on it with some heavy hitters. Hardly anyone knows what they’re talking about.

Not to worry though. I’m booking a superstar on this topic.

    • Alby says:

There’s actual CRT, and then there’s the use of it as a catch-all term for general uppityness. Non-academics are almost always talking about the latter.

  3. nathan arizona says:

R.E. Vanella: 1619 is clearly derived from CRT thinking. I’m not saying any CRT theorist specifically called for a1619 project. Didn’t have to. I’m pretty sure I’ve read at least as much about CRT (though not Marxism) as you have.

  4. nathan arizona says:

Plenty of academics have problems with CRT. I do agree that most critics on the right don’t actually know much about it.
