I hear there’s a House Committee meeting taking place today.  Don’t (Not allowed to) know what it’s about. Can’t (Not allowed to) attend.  Business as usual under the thumbs of Speaker Peter and Our PAL Val.

Biden Issues Sweeping Vaccine Mandate. Rethug Governors Threaten To Sue:

Republican governors from Texas to Missouri and Georgia threatened to fight back. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the mandates “an assault on private businesses” and said the state is “already working to halt this power grab.” Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon said he asked his state’s attorney general “to stand prepared to take all actions to oppose this administration’s unconstitutional overreach of executive power,” and South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem said, “See you in court.” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the group “will sue the administration to protect Americans and their liberties.”

Biden, for his part, seemed unconcerned about escalating political tensions. “A distinct minority of Americans — supported by a distinct minority of elected officials — are keeping us from turning the corner,” he said. “These pandemic politics … are making people sick, causing unvaccinated people to die. … If these governors won’t help us beat the pandemic, I’ll use my power as president to get them out of the way.”

All I can say is, “About effin’ time.”

‘Condo Condo Quand-Ary’: Le Parc has turned into Les Pits:

Decades of structural defects and water damage have put a 30-year-old condominium complex at risk of collapse, but disagreements among condo owners have prevented repairs from moving forward.

Le Parc Condominiums (off of Gov. Printz Boulevard in Edgemoor) – consisting of three, four-story buildings housing 76 units – has faced similar issues to those at Champlain Tower South, including shoddy construction practices, design flaws, the developer going bankrupt and decades of deterioration and water infiltration.

While some emergency work was done, a permanent fix – estimated to cost $4.5 million – has been on hold nearly five years due to a lack of funds and financing. The issues have decreased property values and landed owners in foreclosure, leaving roughly 65 units occupied.

Oh, you want to know about the song?  Pat Boone, (who else?), appropriated the Italian pop song, and sang much of it in English.  Boone is especially notorious for appropriating Black music and making it ‘appropriate’ for white folks:

Of course, you are correct on another point. In fact, Boone admits he made tons more money off the sales of the records you cited than the original artists initially did. But if you think Boone, now well-known for his Christian beliefs, is ashamed of this, think again.

“Guilty? No,” he told PBS’ Travis Smiley during an interview on May 29, 2015. “Here’s the bottom line: There were lots of rhythm and blues artists and they were doing well in their genre and they were famous and they had the charts and everything. (But) the only ones anybody knows today are the ones that were covered by the Beatles, by Elvis, by me and by many artists.”

But, I digress. (Some days, I find the digressions more intriguing than the straight poop.)
This Deputy Mayor Had Too Much Time On His Hands.  Might as well amass an illegal arsenal.  Beats playing solitaire on the computer.  In case you were wondering:
Airmont is a village in the town of Ramapo, Rockland County, New York, United States, located north of the state of New Jersey, east of Suffern, south of Montebello, and west of Chestnut Ridge. The population was 8,628 at the 2010 census.
And, yes, those who have spent their lifetimes in Suffern are indeed known as long-Suffern citizens.  You’re welcome.
The Remaining 9-11 Questions.  President Biden has ordered the declassification of 9-11 materials.  What remains, what may have been destroyed, and what might they tell us?
How 9-11 Reshaped American Society.  Spoiler Alert: Not for the better.
Biden Withdraws Nomination Of Strong Gun Control Advocate As Head Of ATF.  We didn’t have to wait for Manchin to deep-six it. Angus King did the honors this time.
What do you want to talk about?

It is almost as if, under late stage capitalism, self-government can’t work even on a micro scale.

Spoiler alert: The periods in human history in which even a small portion of humanity has been governed competently are few and far between.

We happen to have government of the assholes, by the assholes and for the assholes. The results speak for themselves.

In the mean time, an article in the NYTimes put our situation in focus it is as follows:

The political dysfunction that holds America hostage also holds science hostage.

If you’re interested in reading the joint statement Gerald Brady’s legal team was referring to and completely mischaracterizing you can read it in the link. Delaware Asian American Voice is not advocating for decriminalizing sex work in any way. We advocate specifically for the AAPI community.

I’m easy to reach if you would like to talk

    • Thanks. This Tom Neuberger…when you don’t have the facts, change the subject. From the News-Journal article:

““Out of state organizations are seeking to make prostitution legal in Delaware and they are trying to ‘cancel’ Mr. Brady…since he opposed their efforts to make prostitution and sex for money legal in our State and no longer a crime,” Thomas Neuberger, Brady’s lawyer, wrote in a letter to General Assembly attorney Karen Lantz.

“Many locally have been duped by these outsiders,” Neuberger wrote. “The ‘pretext’ which has been used to remove him from the Judiciary Committee on which he serves was Mr. Brady’s unguarded, free speech protected, and private email to a friend.”

      QAnon stuff.

That’s appalling. When you are in a hole – keep digging? Seems like a dumb strategy. But I guess they only need to provide Val a little cover.
