A Chorus of Empty, Rote Prayers From The Usual Bloodthirsty Ghouls.
Ho hum….more children murdered in their elementary school. Here is the Pro forma, boilerplate response used by many GOP leaders. Ted Cruz even re-used an exact tweet from a mass murder of children in October.
There seems to be a formula for how right-wing politicians are now responding to mass shootings on social media that goes something like this:
I [We] am [HORRIFIED, HEARTBROKEN, ETC] at the senseless tragedy in [LOCATION] today. We are [LIFTING THEM UP IN PRAYER, PRAYING FOR THEM] and thank the heroic efforts of [POLICE, FIRST RESPONDERS, ETC] on the scene.
So many used almost the exact Mad-Libs response that you have to believe that it is the result of intensive focus group work by someone, and then provided to these folks. Wouldn’t be a scoop to find out its origin. The NRA itself, perhaps?
And what is with the constant, knee jerk, “heroic first responders” boot licking? Rhetorical, I know an answer. Just galling, IMHO.
How about the cops in armor plated tactical vests and rifles standing outside while the guy slaughtered little kids for a half hour. The cops fought the parents!
Police are so brave to protect us… I’m glad the cops weren’t “defunded”.

Teachers are supposed to confront these killers when the cops won’t?
Yeah. the news this morning… A bunch of cosplay heroes, strapped-up for combat shitting their pants, milling around and making pretend that the 911 calls were for crowd control.

Ah yes, comparing death rates in the general population that includes gang related shootings, drunks, romantic issues, and (yes) mass shootings amongst others to homicide rates inside CLASSROOMS is a perfectly cromulent and relevant comparison. Newsflash, If that latter number isn’t 0, then we have a problem. Weak attempt at deflection.

My blanket response to gun nuts is as follows. If you think we need to focus on “mental health issues” Well, great! Fund it. That’s at least a small acknowledgment that something is wrong.
If you think the tree of liberty needs to be watered by the blood of elementary school children and/or you need a military weapon to defend your homestead, just fuck off. You are completely nuts and I make it a habit to avoid crazy people online & IRL.
