Yo, Lydia, Any Reports Hanging Around Your Desk Just Waiting To Be Made Public?

An Open Letter To Lydia York, State Auditor:

You and I both know something.  The same thing.  You are in possession of a report that could have a direct impact on a statewide race.  Almost certainly will. You and I both know what report we are talking about.

You and I are well aware of the import of this report.  You and I both know what it is in that report that is so important.

The report will eventually be released.  People will find out.  I know of at least part of its contents because it is impossible to keep a story like this hidden, especially when so many hands, so many agencies, so many people, so many educational institut…oops almost gave it away,  have taken part in the preparation of the report.

Seems to me you have three choices: (1) Release the report to the public now and, in so doing, demonstrate that Delaware Way corruption does not have any place in your office;  (2) Wait until after the primary.  The report will still come out, but your failure to release the report earlier will damage your independent reputation, plus the information that you withheld will THEN play a role in the General Election, assuming a certain someone wins the Primary.  (3) Delay the report until after the election.  Your reputation will be sealed, and not in a good way.  Do you really want to run for reelection in 2026 with your reputation in such disrepute?

I enthusiastically supported you because you represent(ed) a breath of fresh air from the casual corruption of the Delaware Way that Kathleen McGuiness embodied.

I still believe that you have the best interests of the State at heart.  Now’s the time to demonstrate it.

Sincerely,

Steve Tanzer

  1. With Early Voting having started, every day that this report remains secret ensures that more and more voters will go to the polls without information they should have.

  2. Watcher says:

Jensen show reporting that another BHL scandal is coming in next day or two. Maybe this above is it.

  3. Jason says:

Your “3 choices” set up probably flattens the number of possible things going on. I’m not expert in how auditors offices work, but I should think there are a number of legal sign off’s required. Just going by gut feel, but I doubt York has any interest in protecting Hall-Long from any consequences flowing from her wrong doings.

    • No legal sign-offs remain. The report is ready to go.

Pretty clear that the press is aware generally of what’s in the report. E-mailed with a quality reporter this morning, and they knew.

Just waiting for the report to drop…

  4. MicCheck says:

Lydia, the rumors are bad. Thanks for your service but we really need to do more background checks on people before we run them for office.

You and Bethany and Susan Holloway will have lots of time to hang together soon. Trust.

    • Editor’s Note: The above comment was originally in the Moderation folder.

      I approved it. Why?

Because if what I have been told is in that report that the State Auditor STILL hasn’t released is true, then that comment is 100% true. Including the mention of the inept/corrupt Susan Holloway.

Let me put it another way: If true, the State Auditor joins the Department of Elections in withholding essential information that voters need to know before they cast their votes.

  5. I’ve been told from someone who should know that, and I quote:

“The report that you are referencing is not complete. It is in draft form, awaiting at least 3 steps. It won’t be released until it’s done.”

I think it’s safe to call this the official response from the State Auditor.

  6. Kevin Ohlandt says:

Educational institutions? UoD or DSU? Dept. Of Ed? A corporate education reform crap company like AIR? You got me on this one. And why would ANY of these entities be helping with the preparation of an Auditor investigation?

  7. AuditorPork says:

When the hell are we going to get the report? I already know I’ll back anyone but Bethany but this is ridiculous. We have a right to know what’s going on.

I do like Lydia and realize she’s under tremendous pressure.. but how long must we wait?

  8. I think BHL could well face criminal charges.

    I think she’s gonna lose.

So, I guess I can wait.

There’s no excuse for Albence running interference, though. The new Governor needs to get him to pack his bags ASAP.

    • SussexWatcher says:

How does that work if he was just reconfirmed? Does that role serve at the pleasure of the Governor like the Cabinet members?

      • Well, the General Assembly passed legislation this term requiring cabinet officials who the governor wishes to designate as holdovers be reconfirmed by the General Assembly.

I THINK, but I’m not sure, that that would apply to the commissioner of elections.

    • Kevin Ohlandt says:

The Dept. of Elections also got word that now Christina board member Dr. Naveed Baqir was not a resident of the house he said he lived in when he ran for the board. This was reported by multiple people from his HOA. Dept. of Elections did NOTHING! That would have been the time to stop something dead in its tracks and they sat on it.
