Proving, once again, that politics make strange bedfellows, especially when you’re trying to attract enough votes.
In one corner: Mimi Minor-Brown for Speaker; Kerri Evelyn Harris For Majority Leader; and Cyndie Romer for Majority Whip.
In the other corner: Madinah Wilson-Anton for Speaker; Kim Williams for Majority Leader; and Sophie Phillips for Majority Whip.
I’ve done the tentative counting, and I think I’d rather be on Madinah’s team than Mimi’s. Pending, of course, the outcomes of one or two more elections on Nov. 3.
However, nothing is ever in the bag until the votes are finalized. You never know who has a price on their vote (chair of a committee, member of one of the ‘money’ committees, an aide they want to hire, etc.).
Anyway, I’d sure like to be a fly on the wall for that caucus meeting. It could take place as early as right after the election. I believe the Speaker must call it, so she may choose to wait awhile to schedule it.
Color me intrigued.
BTW, word on the street is that Tizzie Lockman may not seek a leadership position in the Senate for the upcoming term.
Both slates suck. Bunch of people easily swayed by money and/or threats. I’d marginally prefer the second except for the presence of Kim Williams, friend of the gun lobby. The first is three lost causes.
Well, Madinah Wilson-Anton and Sophie Phillips aren’t easily swayed, to put it mildly.
Caucus is called by most senior Representative.
