Miss California: Just a Good Wholesome Christian with a Boob Job

Filed in National by on April 23, 2009

Yep, suhprize, suhprize, Miss Holier Than Thou will be an introducer tonight on the Dove Gospel Music Awards show.

And, just like that, the Religious Right has a new cause celebre. “She would’ve won if she hadn’t expressed her honest views.”

Yes, and Miss Mississippi would’ve won if she hadn’t supported cross-burnings. Granted, there is nothing more vapid than beauty pageants. But at least the judges had the good sense to realize that they couldn’t send Miss USA out to cut ribbons at supermarket openings if she was gonna spout anti-gay rhetoric.

BTW, ‘bulo was just wondering. What does the Bible say about boob jobs and wearing bikinis in public? Anything similar to what the Koran says?

  1. Tom S. says:

She thinks marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman (you know, like the President does), I don’t recall her saying that makes her holier than anyone.

  2. a. price says:

however, an annoying bitchy gay man (perez) said his vote… and thus the outcome of the contest was based on her answer. I support gay marriage as much as (if not more than…for population control reasons) “opposite marriage”. She said people should be able to choose, and she would choose to marry “opposite”.
    think about this…
“I support a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion, but i would never ever choose one for myself” that is still pro choice…. is it anti-liberal?
what about me saying “i think same sex people should have the right to marry, however i would never marry a man myself because i am not gay.
She worded it poorly, and again a talentless very bad “front man” for the cause decided to start a tiff. what he did makes everyone look bad. The right wing actually has an honest complaint about this, and they have a Barbie doll as their poster child. Left loses this fight.

  3. Tom S. says:

Word, Perez cost gay marriage a few points and left Miss California looking like a saint by comparison. They should stick with chill, predictable people like Ellen.

  4. anon says:

All that’s left now is to find the sex tape.

  5. Von Cracker says:

Maybe the G00P will sequester her and Joe the non-P to a undisclosed location to create their presidential candidate for 2056.

  6. jason330 says:

For the record, this blog does not have a policy, formal or informal, on boob jobs or wearing bikinis in public.

    Live and let live baby..yeah!

  7. cassandra_m says:

Neither Perez Hilton or Miss California did themselves any favors in this thing ( you didn’t need Hilton to tell you that Miss California gave a weasel’s answer), but just because Hilton is odious doesn’t mean that it was wrong to point out just how bad Miss Cali was.

  8. Unstable Isotope says:

Miss CA sounded dumb when she said it. Word, on pageants, ‘Bulo. I can’t think of anything dumber than a scholarship competition based on how you look in a swimsuit.

  9. Von Cracker says:

My siss-ster. She is 3’rd best prostitute in all of Kazakhstan! Very Niice!

Right or wrong, all peoples celebrate cultural beauty in one way or another….except for some islamic ones.

  10. Rebecca says:

U.I. The line on the swimsuit competition is that they are looking for women who look healthy, as in healthy-all-American-girl. Yeah, Right!

  11. pandora says:

The whole point of the question segment of these pageants is to give the best non– answer possible. It’s why “world peace” is such a popular response.

I once worked with a former Miss Delaware, and she would demonstrate the technique of non-answering. It was quite impressive.

Perez is a publicity hound and looks like an ass, but no matter how he looks or what he is, there’s no getting around the fact, as a potential (if flimsy) representative of the entire USA, that Miss Cali bombed the question.

  12. R Smitty says:

I disagree with her attempted answer, but at least she tried to answer for herself, not what she thought people wanted to hear. In the bigger picture, I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about this pageant.

Anyway, although I disagree with her answer, it’s even worse in that the director of this pageant organization in CA tweeted that this is why they have judges, so people like this (Ms CA) won’t have a place. Not verbatim, but to that effect. So, what looks worse now, the bubble-headed-bleach-blond (thanks to Don Henley for that line) and her answer, or the organization for the dipshit leader wanting to play thought police as a screening criteria?

Drop all these pageants, anyway, and reallocate the scholarships for people who earn it academically.

  13. Geezer says:

When I saw a TV story on this, I honestly could not tell any difference between Miss Cali and whoever actually won. They looked like clones.

  14. jason330 says:

    Maybe they were….

  15. pandora says:

Well, that’s one way Republicans could increase their numbers!

  16. Nomad says:

here’s a question, who would you rather be locked in an elevator with for 10 hours? that’s right, Miss California wins every time

  17. R Smitty says:

I dunno, Jason seems to be preferring Celia as of late.
