Senator Carper — Stop Voting for Banks

Filed in Delaware by on May 9, 2009

MoveOn.org  produced this ad that calls out Senator Carper’s vote to stop the bill that would allow bankruptcy judges to adjust mortgage interest rates:

Call Senator Carper’s office at 202-224-2441 and tell him you’re disappointed in his vote against the mortgage modification legislation.  And just so you are clear about this — bankruptcy judges can adjust the interest rates and other aspects of a mortgage for second or third houses and even boats.  Just not for the person with just one house who may need the help of offically acknowledging that their houses are worth much less than the contract or in just reducing an interest rate.  Ask Senator Carper why folks who can afford multiple homes can take advantage of this, while people with just one cannot.

Let us know if you called andwhat the response was.  Be polite, but firm.

How much does one of those trucks with a big loudspeaker on top cost?

  2. anon says:

I think if you put that mug on a billboard next to that text it would be all over for Carper.

  3. jason330 says:

The next drinking liberally is going to have a Tom Carper theme.

I don’t want to give anything away, but I’m terrible at keeping secrets.

What?! We have to come dressed as Republicans?

  5. nemski says:

In today’s Community News, which is still in your driveway, is a great cartoon by Rob Tornoe about Tom Carper.

  6. anon says:

No, you have to bring Mike Castle.

  7. Susan Regis Collins says:

Hey, I saw that cartoon in the Community News…that paper gets better and better every year. It’s almost worth paying for (.25).

I think it would be worth it to contact the artist…his email is at the bottom of the ‘toon and ask permission to post it on DL and send it to national outlets too.

I contacted Craper’s office in DC and gave the basic message as Iwas adding more I got put on hold for another incoming call. I hung up at that point. Not before I gave my address (usually I tell ’em not to send anything in the mail…cause I really do not care how they try to defend their positions…it’s all bull to me).

So now I’m thinking I refuse the letter, return to sender, and write on the the envelope back: ‘Be a real man 😉 move to the other ailse (sp) or stop voting with the R’s and their toadies’ or something equally as ‘angry’ because I am pissed.

  8. David says:

Please stop voting for banks, Senator. The unemployment rate isn’t high enough. We need you to destroy the Democrat party and harm the financial system the world depends upon for prosperity and commerce.

That sounds like a winning appeal to me.

  9. Delaware Dem says:

So now David is defending banks, I think. His comment is incomprehensible. And David, when you say “Democrat Party,” you only make yourself sound like a moron.

  10. cassandra_m says:

Well Delusional David thinks that if banks have to redo their mortgage contracts unemployment will go up. He hasn’t been paying attention to the havoc this economic crisis has already caused among banks that pretty much shot themselves in the foot. And who are still at the very center of the global meltdown.

  11. jason330 says:

Carper and Dave are on the same side of the issue.

    ’nuff said.

  12. Frieda Beryhill says:

    Susan, you say
(usually I tell ‘em not to send anything in the mail…cause I really do not care how they try to defend their positions…it’s all bull to me).
Indeed, I have a box full of these letters, some 3 pages long….all Bull…
Of course he is voting with the banks, have you ever checked where his money is coming from? Its public knowledge, look it up. The numbers and amounts make you dizzy. Finance Reform you say? Ha!! dream on.

  13. arthur says:

You do remember Tom in his first year of the governorship right? Oh, what you dont cause that was before you found your soapbox? well he was the one that coined the phrase “delaware is built on the 5 C’s – chickens, cars, credit cards and corporations”

and now you seemed surprised by it? hold on. wasnt it one of your own who said “if he has a D next to his name i will vote for him!”

learn your history and you will learn your affiliation.

    Credit Carper.
