The one on top is going to be your President.

  3. donviti says:

    now that’s funny!

  4. J says:

What you fail to recognize is the lack of momentum(Zero! None!)in the Democratic Party.

You’re are in for a rude awakening and it’s going to hurt. So I’m glad I’m making you laugh now 🙂

  5. donviti says:

What you fail to recognize is the lack of momentum(Zero! None!)in the Democratic Party.

I think the same can be said about you.

but hey, tap your toes away while you call your Madame and fondle your 16 y/o intern.

  6. Delaware Dem says:

Hahahahaha. You speak as if the Rethuglican Party has momentum!!! Actually, yeah, the GOP does have momentum. NEGATIVE momentum. You are going to lose 8-10 Senate seats and another 20 House seats when gaining none in 2008. That will give the Democrats not only near filibuster proof majorities, but, should a miracle occur and a Republican is elected President, veto-overriding majorities.

But we don’t have to worry about that, since Freddie Thompason ain’t going nowhere.

  7. J says:

You’re argument is weak. You’re numbers don’t have any backing, mine do; cuz Billary is a known product.

Billary will cause 6-10 fresh Ds to lose their seats.

We can only go up, so the light is starting to shine my friend. Drown in complacency, I love it.

    How’s Norman Hsu?

  8. jason330 says:

    Hey J,

What is it about Grandpa Fred that you like?

Is it the manly aftershave like Chris Matthews? Or, like Margaret Carlson, is the big manly hands?

  9. donviti says:

  11. J says:

What is it about Grandpa Fred that you like?

I just like him (political alignment obviously but there’s more to him than the rest) , and I think a lot of folks will too.

Demeanor is going to go all long way next election. Whoever wins is the voice you’ll be hearing for four or eight years! Do you really want that to be Hillary Clinton?

After 16 years of division, I think he’s what America is looking for.

  12. jason330 says:

So, like Bush, he is the guy America will want to have a beer with?

    Super. Thanks for playing.

  13. oedipa maas says:

The only thing “more” to Frederick of Hollywood are the interminable Law & Order reruns.

And I LIKE Law & Order.

But, really, only Adam Schiff should be running for President from that show.

But, hey! How’s this repub fundraiser doin’? 32mil is alot of fraud…..and some of the recipients won’t give the money back! Gasp!

  14. Al Mascitti says:

So, is J your name, or does it represent the hook that belongs in the mouth of that channel catfish?

“You’re argument is weak. You’re numbers don’t have any backing…”

Yeah, and “you’re” English shows what kind of education it takes to believe the shit you’re selling.

  15. J says:

Yeah, and “you’re” English shows what kind of education it takes to believe the shit you’re selling.

It was the computers fault 🙂

Come on Al, you’ve never typed in between work and made errors? Treat you’re (ha) listening audience a little nicer

  16. Al Mascitti says:

OK, J, here’s a question for you: Did your computer come up with Freddie’s Snappy Slogan: “United By Our Core Beliefs”?

Jeezus, that’s so stilted and awkward it makes Biden sound like a freakin’ statesman. The guy’s a joke.

  17. Al Mascitti says:

I’ve been trying it out. It’s fun. Go ahead and chant it — “United by our core beliefs! United by our core beliefs! United by our core beliefs!…” Oh, it’s gonna be a great convention moment…

  18. Chris says:

“Jeezus, that’s so stilted and awkward it makes Biden sound like a freakin’ statesman. The guy’s a joke.”

    Al…is that fear I sense???

I get the feeling the Dems are actually concerned about this. Actually the other Repubs are as well.

  19. Al Mascitti says:

Chris: Yeah, I’m really, really scared. If you’re going to masturbate, shouldn’t you do it in private?

  20. Al Mascitti says:

Say it with me, Chris: “United by our core beliefs! United by our core beliefs! United by our core beliefs!…”

Sorry, but a majority of us are united by the “core belief” that you flag-waving knuckle-draggers would be a laff yuk riot if you didn’t have your hands on the levers of government.

  21. J says:

    Moving on…

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_2008__1/daily_presidential_tracking_polling_history

Clinton will be the Democratic candidate (might as well be coming straight out of the mouth of Joe Namath) and the Republican candidate will be President.

It sucks… I know…but the truth sometimes hurts.

  23. Dana Garrett says:

Wait till the public learns that he was THE lobbyist that caused his the Savings & Loan scandal. He will be toast.

  24. J says:

“If you are going to pull shit out of your ass don’t include a link.”

The link was to show you Clinton is going to kick everybody’s ass on your side.

So everything else won’t matter. Don’t flatter yourself, I know exactly what I posted.

  25. J says:

“Wait till the public learns that he was THE lobbyist that caused his the Savings & Loan scandal. He will be toast.”

With all due respect, people don’t even recall that. Furthermore if the S&L scandal were to hurt anyone in this race, it would be McCain, as he was a member of the “Keating Five”.

    From ABC news:
“Former DNC chair McAuliffe says “Fear Fred”

” Fred Thompson’s decision to skip Wednesday’s New Hampshire debate invited ridicule from the Republican ‘08ers who view him as a lightweight.

But his thin public record is cold comfort to one Democratic powerbroker.

In fact, it has former DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe downright nervous.

“There’s not much there. That’s what makes me nervous,” said McAuliffe who remembers toiling for Jimmy Carter when he was trounced by Ronald Reagan.

“I’m never underestimating another B-Movie actor.”

McAuliffe offered his assessment to ABC News just moments after Thompson entered the fray.”

  26. Chris says:

“Chris: Yeah, I’m really, really scared. If you’re going to masturbate, shouldn’t you do it in private?”

Glad to see you are the perfect broadcast professional. Such a gift for debate.

  27. miles north says:

With all due respect, people don’t even recall that.

Don’t worry. We’ll take care of that for you. (Unless Rudy does it first).

By the way, Fred needs cash… it will be interesting to see who he turns to.

  28. Chris says:

“Sorry, but a majority of us are united by the “core belief” that you flag-waving knuckle-draggers would be a laff yuk riot if you didn’t have your hands on the levers of government.”

Please feel free to keep believing this. I know it seems so in the little microcosm that is this blog, and maybe even in the microcosm that is Delaware (though you may want to stay above the canal just to be sure). But I think you might be surprised just how many “knuckle-draggers” make up the American public. I know you all were giddy in 2006 thinking the Republicans lost because of the war. But that view is a little to narrow. Many Republicans either stayed home, voted independent, or, in some cases, even pulled the D lever NOT because of the war, but because of Bush’s failure domestically to seal the border and curb spending. They chose to send him and the GOP a message in 2006 when it wasn’t as critical.

But when it comes to president, all bets are off! Especially since Bush isn’t running (which all seem to forget.)

But please, keep believing what you believe, especially if it helps you sleep at night.

  29. J says:

“By the way, Fred needs cash… it will be interesting to see who he turns to.”

Yeah, he’s really going the conventional route. You wish.

“With all due respect, people don’t even recall that. Furthermore if the S&L scandal were to hurt anyone in this race, it would be McCain, as he was a member of the “Keating Five”.

McCain is already out of the race.

If you think that the DEMS and Repub contenders can’t educate the public through advertising & commercials about how he personally persuaded Reagan to deregulate the S&L’s, then you’re in for a big surprise.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Thompson#Lobbyist

Also, when all those values Republicans get a load of his child wife, he’ll be bogged down w/ questions about it.

    http://bp3.blogger.com/_NRiYyyoAiWI/RtyVM3AOVxI/AAAAAAAAAOY/CWOwdmgFGJ8/s1600-h/trophywife.jpg

Wait till they get a load of that cleavage standing next to that dirty old man.

Wait till all those divorced women who got dumped by their hubbies for a younger woman get a load of her. They won’t vote for the codger and their political party won’t matter one bit.

  31. J says:

    Dana,

None of those things are “major issues or “platforms” so again I respectfully disagree

  32. Al Mascitti says:

Chris: “But I think you might be surprised just how many “knuckle-draggers” make up the American public. ”

Really? And you evidence of this would be what? Talk about little microcosms.

“Many Republicans either stayed home, voted independent, or, in some cases, even pulled the D lever NOT because of the war, but because of Bush’s failure domestically to seal the border and curb spending.”

Right, that’s it — he’s not conservative ENOUGH. That’s some good shit you’re smoking, ace — got enough to share?

“Glad to see you are the perfect broadcast professional. Such a gift for debate.”

Yes, I give nameless onanists all the respect they deserve. What is it you think I should debate you on? You haven’t provided a single fact; it’s all opinion. I don’t see where yours is backed up by reality or common sense. You can put your hand back in your pants now.

  33. jason330 says:

    onanists = masturbator

I had to look that up.

  34. Demeanor is going to go all long way
    *
oh yeah? The beer-buddy Bush persona y’all bought into went a long ways toward destroying our country.

  35. Al Mascitti says:

Yeah, Jason, I like to expand people’s vocabulary when I can. But I’m serious about this — when people start asserting what will happen, they either go to the casino and put money where their mouth is or they’re just jerking off. When you make silly predictions about Castle I call you on it; when these little hand jobs come on here and assert Thompson will do this or Giuliani will do that, I call them on it.

It might be different if they were interested in an actual debate or discussion of various candidates’ chances, but they’re not — they just want to talk smack because you posted a couple of photos mocking a guy whose whole candidacy is based on his supposed Hollywood qualities. Yeah, he’s Reagan, all right — except without the principles, qualifications or good looks. Hey, Fred, good luck with that.

As for Giuliani, quoting polls about his appeal is nice, but it’s all based on the fiction that he did something heroic during the 9/11 aftermath. In reality, about all he did was fail to cry. The guy couldn’t even win against Hillary in New York, which is why he didn’t challenge her for the Senate. Cracking down on squeegee men gets you only so far. Republicans have narrowed their choices to an authoritarian and a creepy robot — no wonder they want Fred Thompson, who has not voiced a single interesting idea yet, to save them.

So those are my opinions, and they’re not based on my fealty to the Democrats, because I have none. But you’ll notice I don’t declare who will win, because I don’t know. If I did I’d go place my bets, not wave my dick around on somebody’s comment thread.

  36. DV this is the best ever look-alike!!
    good job bub.

  37. It might be different if they were interested in an actual debate or discussion of various candidates’ chances, but they’re not — they just want to talk smack

trolls by any other name are still trolls.

  38. I had not caught yet that Fred and Ronny colluded on S&L dereg. BIG, BIG, BIG DEAL

  39. jason330 says:

    Al,

Don’t you think that R field is so freaking thin and pathetic because the Dem (whoever wins…Clinton Obama or Edwards) is pretty much a mortal lock?

The Bush/Rove/Cheney/Castle years have made being a Republican kind of pointless for the next 20 years.

It is not my opinion to say that “Reagan” Brand Republicanism of low taxes, balanced budgets, non-interventionists forigen policy and lip service to honor, integrity and personal accoutnability has been trashed.

[I put Reagan in quotes up there because Reagen clearly did not embody the kind of republicanism that people associate with him, but the myth will not die.]

  40. Disbelief says:

Goddamit, RUDY! Does no one listen to me?

  41. Al Mascitti says:

Jason: Your theory would be stronger if you could identify for me the “quality” Republican candidates who are dodging this race. The fact is that their movement is built on cults of personality. GWB was virtually the only candidate they could find who could have run even with Gore in 2000 — and that was based on name recognition. If his name had been Elmer instead of George, we’d still have a Democratic president today.

Their ideas standing alone are not going to convince a majority to vote for them — check any poll on virtually any issue. On very few are they in the majority. So they need a “strong man” to lead them. Giuliani has that image because of 9/11. Should he win the nomination, he will be in the unenviable position of trying to prevent people from finding out more about him — impossible given his long public record. He polls so highly now because people don’t know more about him and, media aside, really aren’t interested in the 2008 election now. Romney’s problem is how glibly he’s pandering to the right after governing Massachusetts as a moderate. If he wins we’ll all get an education about the Mormon religion, which will creep out some of the people who aren’t yet creeped out by his Plastic Man personality. Hence Thompson.

But seriously — who else do they have? Who’s the otherwise qualified, likable candidate who’s not running because he thinks the Democrats have it sewed up?

  42. Disbelief says:

Despite the emergence of Rudy’s warts should he get the nomination, he has a lot more on the plus side than 9/11. He straightened out a fiscal and criminal mess in the five boroughs that had existed since Teddy R. left as Chief of Police.

The man was made for running government. He is simply a good business manager. He might have the personality of Leona Helmsley absent some of her softer qualities, but he’s good at running government as a business. This ‘core value’ bullshit espoused on sites like FSP is for people who don’t have any other areas of competence. Rudy is competent. He’s an asshole, and you wouldn’t want to spend a day fishing with him, but he’s competent.

  43. J says:

Great thread, but the fact remains Clinton is going to kick Obama’s ass and yet she can’t win the Presidency (48% definitely will not vote for her!) so good luck with that.

I was talking about who’s going to be the next President, so everything else in this post is opportunity bashing.

    Fact:
    Clinton vs R = R wins

  44. miles north says:

Jason: Your theory would be stronger if you could identify for me the “quality” Republican candidates who are dodging this race.

I am convinced part of Bush’s (Rove’s) political strategy was to neutralize any challenges from the Republican center. Ridge, Whitman, Powell – all co-opted and destroyed. This was not by accident.

  45. jason330 says:

    I could not agree more.

  46. miles north says:

    challenges from the Republican center

Make that the Republican left – only because there ARE no Republicans to the left of Ridge, Whitman, Powell, etc.

  47. Dana Garrett says:

“Romney’s problem is how glibly he’s pandering to the right after governing Massachusetts as a moderate. If he wins we’ll all get an education about the Mormon religion….”

I’ve been reading a lot about the Mormon religion and it is creepy, not that any of them are anything to write home to mom about.

Romney’s negatives are high too, almost as high as Hillary’s at last count. A match up between the two might make for an interesting race. The winner might be the person who can make the other candidate seem more revolting.

  48. Dana Garrett says:

“I am convinced part of Bush’s (Rove’s) political strategy was to neutralize any challenges from the Republican center. Ridge, Whitman, Powell – all co-opted and destroyed. This was not by accident.”

Interesting theory. I never heard that one before, but it does sound Rovian.

  49. Al Mascitti says:

I agree, Dana. But I also question that Ridge and Whitman could be labeled “quality candidates.” Both were compromised quite easily, mostly because they were only minimally competent (and not at all charismatic). Powell, of course, would have made a good presidential candidate, but chose not to run. Again, I think his Rovian moment at the UN wasn’t an accident — it was the cautious choice of a cautious man going to his cautious downfall.

Oh, and J — 48 percent of the people saying, 14 months before the election, is not a “fact” that’s worth very much. But you go on believing. Of course, if you check the blog further up, you’ll see the results of people who have put their money where their mouth is. Sixty percent of them have put it on the Democrats. I find that a more significant fact. Of course, you’re welcome to put YOUR money where YOUR mouth is and tilt that back in the GOP’s favor…

  50. Al Mascitti says:

Disbelief: Check Gail Collins’ column in the NY Times today if you want to see how competent New Yorkers consider him. You illustrate my point: Most of what people “know” about Rudy has been made up. Once his real record comes to light — and $100M of negative advertising should see to that — he’s toast. Hillary, meanwhile, is going to be hard to slag worse than she’s been slagged already. I can’t stand her — a few months ago I would have been among that 42 percent who says they’ll never vote for her — but if it’s her vs. a Republican, I’ll vote for her.

  51. jason330 says:

Iowa Electronic Markets don’t confirm it – but I hope Thompson gets the nomination.

    Graph

Any of the Dems would crush him.

  52. J says:

I like the IEM, but I have to say i would give more credibility Rasmussen and it’s National numbers.

Although I’m pleased, it clearly indicates it’s wide open on the GOP side.

    Unfortunately for you –

“Any of the Dems would crush him”

It’s not any Dems…it’s Hillary, it won’t even be close.

Her victory will GUARANTEE a horse race.

  53. jason330 says:

You remind me of me praying for George Bush to beat McCain.

  54. jason330 says:

That’s my point. Think on it a spell.
