I had to stop and read this article then digest it before it dawned on me the potential voter and conservative minded folks doing all the crying and calling of the government down there in the slower lower part of this blessed state.
MILFORD – Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control officials say a dry winter, wet spring and late hatching are driving a near record number of complaints about mosquitoes.
AdvertisementMosquito Control Coordinator Bill Meredith says the Milford office has received nearly 1,900 telephone complaints in the past month from Kent and Sussex counties. That number almost matches the statewide total for all of last year, which hit about 2,100.
Milford huh. Instead of calling the government maybe they should call a private company. Out of the 1900 calls I’m sure there are a few teabaggers in the mix wanting the government to help them. What a joke.
Yes, it is safe to say that Teabaggers only hate the portions of the government that don’t help them directly.
That is why you will get no comments here from teabaggers expressing anything resembling a cogent comment.
I beg to differ here. I happen to mow my brother’s 3 acre yard for him since he works 6 to 7 days a week. We have a family farm that has a State Tax Ditch that runs right beside my brothers yard. The State put the ditch there through our farm and are supposed to spray it. My brother had sprayed the ditch and the other side of his yard himself which did help a little. But when I found out that the State had sprayed another location about 10 miles away with a tax ditch, I called and asked if they could spray my brothers. Hey if you want to come mow the yard once and fight the mosquitoes come on down. I had viral meningitis in 1984 and spent 6 days in the hospital and another 5 home in bed and all the doctors could tell me was it could have been from a mosquito bite. I had been in Dewey the weekend I became sick and there were reports of some children who became sick the same weekend. So yes I will ask for the state to spray for mosquitoes when they get bad enough at my brothers because of the State Tax Ditch. I see nothing political about this issue. I live in Camden and they came through here spraying early this week. What do you think Mosquito Control is for?
Forget the radar–I got sonar up here–bats everywhere–and DNREC counting them. Come and get ’em–and we have nary a skeeter to speak of. Seriously, showtime is 8pm, and DNREC w/ a bat biologist planted on lawn chairs doing the count. Move ’em on out….we hired a company to do “extraction, extrusion, or extermination”, whatever the term, and DNREC got involved, because you need a permit. Well guess what? It’s nesting time for bats, and we don’t want to upset bat pups do we–under some Geneva Convention thing I guess–so until September we are safe harbor. Do I dare mention the barking tree frogs on site? So, really, anymore folks show up for the bat count in the pm, and I’m showing a movie on the side of the house. Call for directions.

I never said I was against it. I just am saying that down there in that part of the state there are plenty of people yapping away about how this is gonna be a communist country with obama, but here they are begging the GOVERNMENT to help them.
They call that hypocrisy up north.

No I am not a socialist. Did you not collect unemployment? I don’t have time to get into all of the hassle with that one right now but will at another time. I help my brother because I want to, he didn’t ask me. That is what families do, help one another. It gives me outside time and I enjoy it. He can do it and has when the mosquitoes were the worse because he didn’t want me getting eaten up. So don’t go assuming things. I have a lot I can say, I actually dated a father of one of the well known bloggers here for almost a year and that is how I got started reading this blog. I learned a lot from him about a lot of things, some of wish I never heard of. So before assuming stop and think. Everyone has things they wish wasn’t known. And for the record, I also sponsor a child through World Vision and became a school mentor this past year for BBBS and have been volunteering for them and their functions too. It is very rewarding, maybe some of you could look into it and help a child.
what does me collecting unemployment have to do with it? Yes. I did proudly. That’s why I pay taxes. You can “Get into it” whenever and wherever you like. Regarding U/E; 10% of Americans are collecting it so what. I was also on Food Stamps while I served my country. Chew on that one “susan”.
Veiled threats mean nothing to me. I haven’t attacked you personally at all. I just pointed out the hypocrisy of a voting bloc of people in this state and you rushed to defend it by saying that you proudly called the government b/c someone else was getting assistance and you didn’t want to be left out.
Wow, sounds like those “lazy” people on welfare that hear about how they can do xy and z from a friend already doing it.
I’m sure your situation was different. It always is to someone claiming to be something they aren’t.
And assuming you dated my dad, god bless you. You should be cannonized. If not well maybe you should my guess is he will be single eventually.

Again you assumed wrongly. Sorry to disappoint you but it was not your father I dated. And I was not trying to start a fight with you. Maybe I should have waited until I could explain more in detail. I’m not saying you shouldn’t have collected unemployment. I totally agree you should have. I had to fight to collect my unemployment and had given up until my father told me to call a state senator to tell him what they put me through. I had not thought to do that and was glad for the advice. I worked for one company for 35 years starting when I was 19. The company was the best ever to work for. I worked in accounts payable for 9 years and payroll for 26 years. Working in payroll I assisted my supervisor with the quarterly filing of unemployment. I know the amount of money that the company paid for their employees to the state of Delaware. We had employees in almost all of the states so I did unemployment filing for those as well. Our company was sold Oct 1, 2007. We first heard that we were being bought on July 13th, 2007. All the finance jobs were integrated into their corporate office in St Louis, MO so our jobs were eliminated. We knew it was going to happen as soon as we heard we were being bought. After 35 years and 4 months of service, my job was eliminated and I was severed as of Feb 28, 2008. I received 61 weeks of severance lump sum as they paid all of us lump sum so as not to continue our medical benefits. I was more fortunate that a lot of my coworkers because I turned 55 before my last day of work. Unemployment could not be collected until after the 61 weeks were up. When I went to apply I was given the run around. Everyone of us from the company was told something different by unemployment and they were not nice at all. I am honest so told them everything up front to have no surprises. Since I had turned 55 I was not penalized when I started to get installments from my profit sharing plan in 2009 to help pay my bills. Finding a job is not easy as you found out for yourself. I have still not found employment but as I said I am fortunate because I made good choices through the years. My profit sharing will not last me the rest of my life but it can last for at least 10 years or more. But it is not like I wanted to start using it this year. At least because of my age and my job being eliminated I am not having to pay the 10% penalty. The people at unemployment told me I was not eligible to collect unemployment because of getting my installment payments. They said just because I worked for a company for 35 years it didn’t necessarily entitle me to be able to collect. Not true. I know that the state is hard up for money but give me a break. They tried to say that my profit sharing was a 401k plan which it is not. It took the state representative I contacted calling and having the director himself call me. Even then the director was not happy that I had contacted the state representative. It was the tone of his voice and they way he talked to me. I was finally able to produce a letter that our CEO had sent us in 2006 that stated that the profit sharing plan was based on profits that the company earned. So I am now able to collect the unemployment that I am deserving of. I do want to work again but know that with my age, it is not going to be easy to find a job. I was under a lot of stress with my job in payroll and in 2002 I had a slight stroke, so I need to be careful as to what kind of job I enter back into. I have to stay away from as much stress as possible. I misunderstood your comment about calling for mosquito control to come spray for mosquitoes. Since it is a state agency and you made the comment, I took it to mean that maybe unemployment was something along that line. I assumed wrongly and I admit it. Again I was not trying to start a fight, it just hit me wrong when I read your initial blog regarding the mosquitoes. I do not like the extreme voices of either party. I read and listen to what is said and then form my own opinions. There are good and bad on all sides. Sometimes I think each party shoots itself in the foot with who they choose to run. The Dems didn’t pick a good choice with Kerry and that is why I don’t think he won. I liked Edwards and if their roles had been reversed I think they might have won. Having McCain as the choice and then him picking Palin was what did the republicans in. I did not like Hilary and was happy Obama won over her. I have always liked Biden and think it is great to have a vp from Delaware. Now Ruth Ann Minner, that is another story. And no I do not listen to Rush, I think he is a nitwit. I do not like bad language or threatening comments. And I hate when someone tries to take something out of context and make it out to be something it is not. That is why I don’t listen to the news very often. And if I made you think I was making any, I am sorry. As for dating your dad, no way, I have a very good man in my life, a much better one than the one I dated that I mentioned. I do not like quick tempered men who say things they later regret or condemn people when they get worked up over things they take out of context. They have to later try to apologize and then after a few more times, it gets old and you tell them to get lost.
