Okay, it is sad that he spoke about some of the most important issues facing down the economic health of the nation. I don’t know why he would do that. If you did not fall asleep, you may have discovered that he may have a point.
Disagreeing with Susan, (obviously she is not a wonk 🙂 ) I unlike her was particularly interested in this show. In it I saw a portentous seed.
In what could be titled the Libertarian Coup, this show illustrated thoughtful discussion covering the realm of marijuana legalization, the future of energy, privacy issues, as well as the tasking of the Iraqi War.
Her criticism is valid from the viewpoint of a staunch Obama supporter. Reacting somewhat with the attack dog intensity of the former administration, she wastes little time in diminishing the impact of the broadcast. Why? I’ll let her explain, because I know her to be a really wonderful person.
But the excitement of what was being discussed on this show, was reminiscent of the same excitement that rippled through Republican circles with the advent of Reagan in 76 and his anticipated run in 80.
WE all know the Republican party is dead, sick, and atrophying. Anyone still registered, has either no clue, is too busy to care, or has not yet researched any other alternative.
And we all know what killed the Republican party, was its own insistence on putting its party ahead of everything else… For Democrats, it would be far better after watching their demise, to argue back using only facts and if wrong, accept it publicly, take over the ownership of the idea, and change their stance, and implement policy that works. Credibility is gained only by always being right. Attempts above like Susan’s to demoralize their opposition and consequently irritate their own supporters by blindly defending unworkable solutions, should not be repeated, now that the whole world knows such a position comes only from leaders who are truly stupid people.
The Libertarian party could, by becoming pragmatic, take over the realms of those trending conservative, if they stick to practical applications of reason-ability. Their platform, judging from today’s discussion, offers the best of Republicanism without the baggage that comes from catering to those who still, even right here in 2009, refuse to believe in something as basic to life as the process of evolution. Those still believing in Magic. (Poof, here is your world)…. are better lining up tonight to see the new magical Harry Potter movie…
Libertarianism needs to join up with the interests of business, and IT will become a force for Democrats to reckon with…
Here is the thing. Everyone knows that people who “refuse to believe in something as basic to life as the process of evolution” are the infantry of the GOP. They were the stamp likers, the poll watchers and the door knockers.
To say that the modern GOP could be something other than the party of Religious craziness is akin to saying that the Democratic party should reinvent itself leaving organized labor behind.
No. A libertarian takeover is not in the cards. The only hope for the modern GOP is for the religious nuts to get more reasonable (or less unreasonable) and that ain’t happening.
I must confess I tuned in around 2 pm so I missed the pot, energy, et al conversations.
I came in w/the ‘Cap & Trade’ tirade…..correct me if I’m wrong but I thought “C & T was a left over from the past administration??? If so, why get on air and start dumping on President Obama and couple it w/the ‘global warming is a lie’ stupid shit. So that is what I am basing my comments on…
The agenda for the rest of the week looks weak to me. No ‘truth tellers’ on tap……
K
What are ya, nuts?
The very last thing we need is more input from ‘business’, unless it be small merchants.
Your comment: “….was reminicent of the same excitement that rippled through the Republican circles with the advent of Reagan in ’76…” Yes, the same odious thinking from the people who never mention what they and St. Ronnie did: dump the mentally ill on the streets, engorged the number of homeless, etc. These are the very piglets that protest social services to fellow Americans.
In my opinion: These thinkers are profoundly sick.
Also, to the best of my knowlege I do not know who you are and, therefore, take offense of your seemingly condescending compliment about me being ‘wonderful’.
“what they and St. Ronnie did: dump the mentally ill on the streets, engorged the number of homeless, etc”
Blame the change in involentary confinement on the ACLU, Who with the help of activist judges, ensured that the crazy people have the right to live in cardboard boxes and rumage through dumpsters.
I LOVE TYLER!
BUT: I tuned in this afternoon only to find ‘Cap & Trade’, Obama bashing, and other boring stuff being discussed.
I feel asleep during the program (sorry TPN). I was expecting some bombbastic debates about local political issues.
What happened did WDEL pick the topic for today’s show????
