Mike Castle Not Sure About Alan Levin’s Intentions

Filed in National by on January 11, 2008

“If Alan Levin gets in the race as a Republican, his fundraising will come very quickly as well,” Castle said. “There is a lot of support for him. In addition, as we know, the sale of Happy Harry’s provides his own base, too, if he wants to depend on that.”

Whoa! IF….?

It makes me laugh that jerk off Mike Castle is still not sure about Levin. And that bit about Levin openeing up the checkbook if he decides to take on Mike Protack…CLASSIC!!!

  1. disbelief says:

I’ve been around enough to know that the statement was a ‘code’ message to Levin saying, “Dude, the GOP doesn’t have a chance in the election; its your money or none, good luck.”

  2. Whoever YOU want it to be says:

Same thing they said to Michelle Rollins a couple years ago…she was smart enough not to bite.

  3. Yeah, but Rollins wasn’t as deeply vested in the day-to-day GOPer club as Levin. And she is full time with her various business interests where Alan is ‘retired’.

  4. disbelief says:

Nancy, the point is that the DE GOP sees no hope on the horizon, therefore is panhandling candidates who have enough of their own funds to run hard enough to avoid party embarassment. The recent Senate and Rep special elections ended in a result of the Dems getting twice as many votes as the GOP candidates. If this happens in the Governor’s race, it makes a really bad party look even worse.

  5. FSP says:

None of you have any idea what you are talking about. And Peter, as is his MO, is being deliberately deceiving. For instance, the 28th RD is 2-to-1 in registration, so losing 2-to-1 there is not exactly unheard of.

  6. disbelief says:

FSP poses the ultimate enigma! Is RD registration 2-to-1 because the GOP candidates suck, or do GOP candidates suck because the RD registration is 2-to-1?

  7. RickJ says:

Disbelief poses another enigma! Do candidates win because they are qualified, or do they become qualified when they win?

Because if it’s the latter, I’m sure you’re all double-proud of the super-qualified Ruth Ann Minner.

  8. disbelief says:

    Good point, Rick!

This is exactly why Delaware Liberal has so much more credibility than sites that toady to party leadership no matter how bad it is. We here at Delaware Liberal are not so sycophantic as to ignore the foibles of our Governor. This is one of the reasons why we’re supporting Markell. He is obviously the most qualified candidate to take our State in a different, better direction than Minner or her self-designated successor.

  9. FSP, who is Peter? Is that an asshole way of ‘outing’ an anony?

  10. disbelief says:

Nancy, FSP’s modus operandi is attacking the speaker, not the speech. He’s labeled me with three different identities so far (by my count), yet will not spend any effort on constructive criticism of his Party. Why? This is the core of the problem. When a Party is composed of “yes” men, credibility goes out the window. FSP himself points to the continuing increase in D registration in our State, yet appears to dim to understand that the underlying impetus is the lack of credibility of those so blind they will not see. So when the ship is sinking, and the crew doesn’t have the balls to point out and fix the problems, they blame someone else. Placing blame is easy. Unfortunately, it doesn’t win political races.

  11. FSP says:

“FSP, who is Peter? Is that an asshole way of ‘outing’ an anony?”

Just trying to even the score. I could do it, with proof and all, but I won’t. I will just continue to antagonize and tweak him.

“This is exactly why Delaware Liberal has so much more credibility than sites that toady to party leadership no matter how bad it is.”

Funny you should say that, because your argument removes any credibility from your chosen candidate, since he won’t speak out against his party leadership or the administration.

Or did I miss the “Markell calls on Meconi to resign” release?

And dis, the 28th has been a Dixie Dem district for a long, long time. Vaughn, Ennis, etc. They didn’t get elected and re-elected for their charm…

  12. FSP says:

And by the way, it’s easy to criticize everyone when you’re not trying to get anything done. I am. I am trying to make this state a better place, so I save my criticism for the times when it’s really important. Like last March.
