   Good for Rachel! When it comes time to talk about where we came from as a nation, it always seems convenient for the Buchanans of the world to excise the people of color who were clearly (if involuntarily) key bits of that history. Buchanan and his ilk would turn right around and disparage the need for African American History or Native American History too — even though it is all too clear that there are plenty of folks still resistant to including everyone to the larger narrative.

   IRONICALLY,WHILE PAT IS PROUD OF HIS OLD-SOUTH ROOTS,AND ANCESTORS WHO FOUGHT FOR THE CONFEDERACY,HE SEEMS TO IGNORE THAT THERE IS NO SECTION WHICH EXHIBITS MORE OF AN AFRICAN HERITAGE THAN DOES THAT OLD SOUTH AREA-LANGUAGE,MUSIC,BLOOD,ALL OF IT.LIKE JIMMY BALDWIN ONCE REMARKED TO A WHITE AUDIENCE,PARAPHRASED-“FOR ALL YOU KNOW,I COULD BE YOUR UNCLE.”HELL,PAT IS MORE CONCERNED,NAY,OBSESSED WITH THAT HERITAGE THAN MOST OF THOSE FOLK WHO EXHIBIT THE ACTUAL PHENOTYPE,HUH?
