Self Proclaim This.
Some of our other critics like to say that we are the self proclaimed leader of the Delaware blogosphere. In other words, they say it is only we who say we are the #1 local blog in Delaware. The implication is that we are not #1.
Delmarva Dealings, a conservative blog based in Salisbury that mostly focuses on Maryland and Virginia politics (and, from what I have read, when it does cover Delaware it focuses mostly on Sussex) when not disparaging the President, says the following about our local blogosphere:
It’s hard to fathom, but our little patch of ground between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean is host to one of the most thriving portions of the blogosphere. It amazes friends and colleagues across the bay that Delmarva (and the Salisbury area in particular) is home to so many blogs.
Some blogs garner a relatively large readership, others not as many. Some are growing their audience, others are declining. […]
Below is a table showing just a few of the blogs in Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia which I follow on a daily basis (with the exception of Salisbury Grinch). The Alexa rank is an objective indicator of audience size rank (averaged over a three month period by Alexa to avoid spikes in readership). The percent change in page views is (again) a three month average of change in daily page views (which is a good estimate of audience growth or decline). I prefer objective data like that put out by Alexa, Compete or Quantcast.
NOTE: In the Alexa rankings, a higher number indicates a smaller relative audience. This is why I included the ranks for Google, the Daily Kos, and Red State for comparison. It should also be noted that Alexa ranks ALL web sites, not only blogs.
Blog Rank Change in Page Views 1 n/a Daily Kos 4,199 +25% Delaware Liberal 858,271 +20% Delaware Politics 6,451,153 -10% * Delaware Liberal has grown to become Delaware’s largest home grown blog. While I seldom agree with these folk, I also seldom miss reading what they have to say.
That is why conservatives come here to air their talking points.

Woohoo, we’re #858,271! Suck on that blogosphere!
#858,271 out of every website on the planet. Not bad.
The implication is that we are not #1.
This comment intentionally does not know why we are caring about this.
If they discounted porn sites, you guys would be in the top ten!
When you think about it that is an amazing for a small state to achieve. There are an estimated 232 million unique websites in 2009.
Rankings can be a little deceiving though. The Delaware Politics number is a little meaningless.
1) We were located on the DTR server for 9 months.
2) Dave had a nofollow tag on the site for 5 months.
I don’t contest that you guys are the number 1 Delaware Political blog. I just don’t know by how much.
Good job!
