Who’s on the Death Panel?
Given my mood lately, I’d looove to be on the death panel! π
What? A few days notice? This is unheard of!!! How can I decide what to do so far in advance! Exclamation point!
dibs on dressing as protack
There are differing opinions at this point as to whether or not I’ll be there. Some think it is necessary, while others say it is a non-starter. Still others say there is a trigger mechanism in place that would come in to play Thursday afternoon. Myself, I’m leaning towards an “opt-in” position.
Could be tough, a. price. Getting the ‘stache is easy, but where would you find delusional psychosis in your size? Bonus question: how many teabags can you attach to a mustache and pilot’s cap? π
I am waiting to see if my wife will go along with this “Drinking Liberally” plan. When she is not in earshot I refer to her as “Senator Snowe.”
Protack would have a great take on the ‘sleeping pilots’ story so lately in the news. (and then you could ask, “if the pilots can sleep for a couple hours and nothing bad happens, why are you necessary?”
It’s funny, but I actually thought of him when I read that story. I can’t wait to find out what really did happen. They say they weren’t sleeping and they weren’t arguing. The mind reels at what else could make two pilots forget for over an hour that they were flying a jumbojet. They probably just blew up that inflatable auotpilot. I’ve seen Airplane, I know how these things work.
Seriously, though, I am going to try to make it. I haven’t drank in Newark in years.
I expect everyone to show up – I’m looking at you Smitty and Scott! I figure I could pull off Phyllis Schlafly if I dressed in black with a pointy hat. π
So when are y’all coming back down to Sussex for another Drinking Liberally?
Silly MJ, Sussex ceases to exist after Labor Day!
π
Be nice, Smitty!
Also, in our defense, we had quite a few upstate bloggers make the drive down for the event. Any Sussex bloggers interested in driving north?
Ah shoot Pandora–I’m back in town now–if you go as Phyllis, that only leaves me Carrie Prejean, or Megan McCain–no time for plastic surgery, hair salonists, personal trainers, or time travelling until then. How much liquor are you guys willing to drink to identify my costume?
Awwwwww snap! Guess who’s coming to dinner, er…I mean Drinking Liberally? It’s been done confirmed.
Especially since Thursday is Free Beer for Smitty Day!
Awww…sNNNNap!
OK, so I have Pandora, Mr. Pandora, Smitty, Scott(?), U.I., Free Radical, infrequent commenter JG and Myself. Who else is coming???
nemski will grace y’all with his appearance
BTW, I’m coming dressed up as Linda Roberston
Yeah, I think I’ll be there. With the performances of Mr.’s Lee and Utley last night, it took some of the pressure off of me to be in my usual spot on the couch wearing my undefeated shirt. Not sure about the costume thing, though. I was thinking about coming as my favorite tv funnyman, but couldn’t figure out where to pick up an almost debilitating paranoia and a kick-ass blackboard. Maybe just as myself, then.
My chosen costume as an elected “junketeer” will not allow me to actually be present tonight since I’ll be ensconced in some Caribbean luxury resort studying the health care costs of decompression illnesses.
Regrets,
John Kowalko
MJ and I will be unable to attend due to our hosting of the free lobster tail (cold water) and caviar (large-grain Beluga with hand-crafted creme freche) dinner with unlimited French champagne served in two hundred year old Irish crystal. Too bad you guys didn’t decide to have the DL down here.
Actually I will try to be there so bring any negative News Journal attack pieces that might reflect on me and I will autograph them for you

Wow, I suddenly…uh…became…ummm…”too busy” to attend tonight, yeah.
I think sSomething suddenly came up in … uh… Sussex County, yeah.psst…dave m…will you accept DL’s token-political-hack as a guest? Just don’t tell them, ok? Don’t worry, they can’t see this. I typed it in my extra-special font that DL contributors can’t see with their eyes.
I wish. Does Homegrown serve cold-water lobster tail and who’s buying? π
Smitty, we can paper you with the old Burris posts and exhibit you as sort of a Victorian curiousity piece. “Look, one of the conservatives who actually used to have a political party.”
Smitty, I don’t personally know anything about this Homegrown Cafe place, but unless Newark bars have changed dramatically in the past 10 years or so, the only tail the patrons there are interested in ain’t on a lobster.
Conser-what? Fiscally conservative, sure, but that is so out-of-vogue to be a fiscal conservative if you are a social-moderate or social-liberal. That combination automatically makes you a commie-lib these days.
Actually, I doubt that there will be anyone with a fake ID at Homegrown for $1 beer night. It is more upscale than that.
Yes, Scott, I know. I often am having to swat away interested parties when I am in town. It truly is a drag sometimes, but the price one must pay.
(oh…my…GAWD…did he really just say that)
By upscale, you mean beer in bottles, not cans?
Seriously, one night we have to have Drinking Liberally at the Jackson Inn.
Seriously… No.
Liberal elitist!!!!! π
From the some of the places I used to go, anything this side of plastic cups and playing “Count the Bullet Holes in the Wall” would seem upscale. And Smitty, just a tip — “Hey, mister, do you know my Dad?” is generally NOT a pick-up line. π
And Smitty, just a tip β βHey, mister, do you know my Dad?β is generally NOT a pick-up line.
Oh. Explains a lot. Thanks.
I can use that free beer any moment now.
Thanks to all who supported Especially since Thursday is Free Beer for Smitty Day, last night. I had a good time sitting, chatting, and leaching onto your wallets.
