A Special Moment
Tonight’s Progressive Democrats for Delaware meeting was interrupted by DNC Chairman Howard Dean who called in to wish PDDer and DelawareLiberal commenter, Rebecca Young, a happy birthday.
Dean was great – but the payoff was how absolutely FLOORED Rebecca was. The whole scene was awesome.
PDD grew out of a “Dean For America Meetup” that was held in Brew Ha Ha back in the day when Howard Dean was the only Democrat around with the guts to tell the truth about the Bush/Castle war. For many of us, that Meetup was our first political act beyond voting.
Without giving away my ‘true identity’, all I can say is that Rebecca Young has been a godsend to the Delaware Democratic Party. Like Howard Dean at the national level, Rebecca understood how essential building a strong local grassroots organization was/is to sustained progressive success. She is that rare ideas person who also works her butt off.
I wish I could’ve been there to enjoy that moment. It really couldn’t happen to a nicer or more deserving person.

What wonderful birthday present. What amazing friends I have in PDD and DelDems to make this happen. I am in Democrat Heaven! Dean is my hero but the people in PDD are what drive me. What an awesome, hard working bunch of people. I am so honored to be part of the group and to be able to help out.
Oh, and did I mention, Howard Dean called ME!
