Just When You Think Republicans Can’t Get Any Crazier

Filed in National by on November 5, 2009

They go and do something like this:

Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA), a candidate in the GOP primary for Governor of Georgia, has announced that he is signing a letter to the White House with several of his colleagues — asking for a copy of President Obama’s birth certificate.

But, hey, this might be a winning strategy in a GOP primary.  Not so sure about winning the election, tho.

Bonus nuttiness:  Armey throws Hoffman under the bus, while “North County Public Radio’s Brian Mann writes that since national conservatives like Armey “deliberately helped to shape Doug Hoffman into a national symbol, one whose stand on abortion, same-sex marriage and President Obama largely defined him,” it is “a stretch” for them to “complain now that he didn’t focus enough on local stuff.”

Haven’t I heard a version of this song before?  Something about someone not being conservative enough.

  1. Delaware Dem says:

Oh, it gets better, Pandora. The House and Senate GOP leadership, along with a number of GOP Congressmen and women, are sharing the stage today, literally, with the worst of the tea baggers. For example, Jon Voight just said “His only success in his one-year term as president is taking America apart, piece by piece. Could it be he has had 20 years of subconscious programming by Rev. Wright to damn America?”

Boehner just embraced the “Obama is a communist” canard as well. I am going to have fun tonight writing all the batshit ideas the GOP just embraced.

  2. pandora says:

    And even worse.

These people are flat out insane. They’re also disgusting – click on the link.

  3. anon says:

That rally with the Holocaust pictures is led by Michelle Bachmann.

  4. cassandra_m says:

    Ugh.

It is way past time to stop giving these whackjobs a platform. Let Fox Noise cover this shit if they dare, but it is time to ramp up some major blowback on this stuff and the traditional media who cover it.

And I think Matt Yglesias is right about the fact that this is exactly the fault of GOP leadership who needed to argue the merits of an Obama policy by making stuff up, like that death panels lie. There is plenty of stuff to argue about that is real about policies without having to just create stuff to object to.

  5. Preston says:

No Mr. Deal. Do white men from the south always use those words in polite conversations? When it comes to race relations, he is a Uniter not a Divider, right? But maybe he thinks he only represents the white populous and the rest be damned.

    The meal Deal should join forces with Orly taitz, he is a closeted Birther. Oh wait what this;

Judge Land and now judge Carter, smack down the crazies (case dismissed), poor little Birthers.

Not even “Fake News” Bill O’Reilly believes the crazies, how funny.

    http://belowthebeltway.com/2009/10/29/bill-oreilly-slams-orly-taitz/

To all the birthers in La, La Land, it is on you to prove to all of us that your assertion is true (TOUGH WHEN YOU KEEP LOSING CASES), if there are people who were there and support your position then show us the video (everyone has a price), either put up or frankly shut-up.

In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that is who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.

I heard that she now wants to investigate the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC).

I wonder if she is a mail order bride, just like her law degree? She is perfect reporter material for “Fake News”, where unfounded rumors and innuendo reign supreme , unlike a our US courts of law, where you need to present documented facts, not half baked lies (prepare for more failures).

A lawyer, dentist, realtor and black belt, WOW I must say a JACK of all trades master of none.

  6. a. price says:

no way. they dont have enough exposure in my mind. The main stream media (hell YES im blaming them) needs to show THESE pictures. they need to show the worst of the crazy, remind people every day of the death threats Obama gets.
The Right Wing is a dangerous violent almost-terrorist group who, eventually WILL kill Americans to achieve their goals. Make NO mistake about it.
Deal with the cockroaches who break the law when they break it…. hopefully before anyone is killed by these swine.. As for everyone else abusing their freedom of speech, use freedom of the press to show everyone what lunatics they actually are.

  7. V says:

I’d heard our girl M-Bach was going to let wingnuttery run rampant through the actual halls of the capital, whites of their eyes and such. Any word on how that’s going? I kind of hope a teabagger gets mauled by an elementary school field trip.

    also, Hi a.price

  8. Delaware Dem says:

    Here is the picture.

This is not a tea bag tea party protest. It is an official Republican Party event, hosted by the House and Senate GOP leadership. They all have now endorsed this insane fringe as their own opinion by allowing this sign to be waved.

  9. a. price says:

    shameful.
Protack, what say you? do you endorse your party now?

  10. anon says:

As much as I would like to tag the GOP with it, I am allowing for the possibility that the sign is a plant. It is framed against the Capitol too perfectly, and the crownd is not reacting much to it, almost as if had been raised suddenly just for the photographer.

I guess the thing to do after you take the picture is go interview the people holding the sign. I wonder if that was done.

On the other hand, it could be that they weren’t looking because it had been there for a while, and the photographer maneuvered into position for the shot.

There are sometimes unfortunate signboards at lefty rallys, too.

  11. Delaware Dem says:

That is a possibility, but I would expect condemnation from the GOP in short order. But instead, we had Boehner calling Obama a communist himself today…. so….

  12. Brooke says:

The guy on the left, with sunglasses, is looking straight at it.

  13. liberalgeek says:

Yeah, and there are some consistent shadows in there. My quick and unqualified opinion is that this is legit.

  14. Brooke says:

ABC news has a video, here ;http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/tea-party-protesters-republicans-rally-health-care-bill/story?id=9004635
The best shot of the back of that poster is in it with 23 remaining in the clip. You can see all the flags from the other side.

  15. Wow, these tea partiers are giving enough fodder for thousands of blog posts. Just go to Talking Points Memo for the up-to-the-minute coverage. They actually said the pledge of allegiance because “it drives liberals crazy.” Ummmmm….no it doesn’t. We recite it at Democratic party meeting, actually. The shouted the “under God” part, too. Did they shout the “indivisible” part as well?

  16. V says:

did the congressman leading the pledge mess it up too? HuffPo supposedly has video of that.

  17. pandora says:

I think he was just sooo excited about yelling “under god” that he forgot the indivisible part.

Either that, or he was channeling Rick Perry.

  18. cassandra_m says:

    Politico has the video.

    Moran.

So quick to try to get his lie out there to demonize liberals he couldn’t even get the Pledge that he thinks so many people don’t like right. I really hope this is the video on cable this evening.

  19. pandora says:

I’ve reached the conclusion that these people know squat about history. They also have no filter. There’s only good and evil. How else would you explain comparing health care to Dachau. Disgusting… and unbelievably stupid.

  20. Geezer says:

“Did they shout the “indivisible” part as well?”

I’m not crazy about the indivisible part. Did you see the poll analysis that showed Obama’s approval rating is 28% in the old Confederacy, 68% everywhere else? Why would we want these people? They have nothing to offer but a willingness to serve as cannon fodder in endless corporate-backed warfare. Fuck ’em.

  21. pandora says:

I hear ya, Geezer. Perhaps secession should be seriously discussed? 🙂

Truthfully, the anti-government states rely on government the most.

  22. cassandra_m says:

And Boehner does not know the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration.

This is how you know that this is all an act.

  23. anon says:

ZZZZZZZZZZ Another GOP rally of ignorant white people. All that’s left in the GOP is trash. Really, it’s gotten to the point where you have to wonder how much lower can they go.

  24. jason330 says:

ZZZZZZZZZ Weak ass Dems like Tom Carper take Karl Roves Spin at face value and move to the right.

  25. Von Cracker says:

These bigots think they’re pretty clever with the sign making, don’t they?

They wouldn’t try a poster like that if they ever stepped foot in the camp at Dachau and saw the bunker and ovens.

I hope some righteous Jew fucks them up.

  26. Brooke says:

I don’t think the responsibility falls to the Jews. It is the business of every sane member of this society to make sure that we remember the Holocaust accurately, so it will never happen again.

The Holocaust was not created by healthcare reform. It was created by racism and fear exploited by demagogues who represented the “conservative mainstream” of their country.

  27. Von Cracker says:

who said anything about responsibility? I want to see one of those old white bigots cry because of their ‘cleverness’. but i do agree with you.

  28. A. price says:

    VC,
THIS jew is ready to fuck up some conservatives. Challah Back! Where mah Heebs at?!

  29. MJ says:

Did someone call for a righteous Jew? I’m here and I’m ready. I’m remembering some of the things we did back in my old JDL days. Actually, our JDL was more like the Guardian Angels, except with yarmulkas and pepper spray.

  30. Brooke says:

I mean, if you want to f-up a bigot, don’t wait for a yarmulke, go right ahead.
