Shaking Things Up in Sussex

Filed in Delaware by on May 6, 2010

We mentioned last week that Eric “St. Bodie Girl” Bodenweiser filed to run against Sen. Joe Booth in the Confederate Party primary for the 19th Senate district seat. Bodie has told anyone who will listen to him (and that seems to be the Klan and the Delaware 9/12 “patriots”), that he plans to spend $100,000 of his own money to beat Booth. We also mentioned that his hand-puppet, Chris Weeks, is running as the Confederate Party candidate against House Majority Leader Pete Schwartzkopf in the 14th RD.

Well, it seems that Budweiser is fashioning himself to be the new party boss in Sussex County. Not only is he running for office and hand-picked Pete’s opponent, he has now convinced Angel Clark to challenge Pete in the Democratic primary. You remember Angel. We wrote about her and her puff-piece of an interview with Matt Walsh, the wingnut running for Mayor of Georgetown on April 22nd.

Over at Rethuglican David’s “blog,” if you can call it that, Angel is described as “a 25 year old political science major. She and her husband live in Rehoboth Beach and are both Delaware natives. She has been active in recent conservative political movements and stands for the Constitution as the highest form of authority in the United States of America.” She believes that HCR violates the 10th Amendment and is supporting HB 353 which would exempt Delawareans from having to purchase health insurance. Ah, just what we need, another uninformed wingnut running for office as a regressive. Clark has not officially declared for the race; she’s seriously thinking about it according to my sources.

Since Budweiser already has a puppet on each hand, where will he put the next one he finds?

    You must have God-awful “sources.”

Weeks was definitely NOT, Bodenweiser’s choice of candidate. The consensus likely opponent, and Bodie’s first choice, declined to take up the challenge. Weeks had been approached before, but this time he has family and business in order. He’s a product of regular old Republican arm twisting.

The idea of a two pronged offensive on Pete has been around a long time, and the notion of a primary run was floated to Angel Clark way back then. She is not considering it. I’ll bet the farm she doesn’t file. Also, I’m reasonably certain she is not registered to vote in the 14th.

  2. A lot of intrigue but few facts is this guy’s style. At least he is right that Angel is a registered Democrat. I like teasing her about being our token Dem. Though she is has about as much in common with the national Democrats as Hillary Clinton does with the Patriot movement.

You may disagree with Angel, but she is hardly uniformed. Just this past week our families spent a day together in a DP field trip where we saw luminaries like Steve Forbes and Sarah Palin. We discussed various economic schools, politics, and life. I think she and her husband our some of the best informed young people that you would find. I would compare her knowledge of economic to anyone in the general assembly, all she would have to do is stay married and her husband would never let her get off track without hearing about it.

If you know her real first name (if it’s Angel, she’s not registered anywhere), you can look up where she IS registered to vote at http://pollingplace.delaware.gov/
