That Hypocrisy Show
wRong Williams is funny, not in the intentional stand-up comedian way, funny in a Gerry Ford-bumping-his-head-kind-of-way. For years Williams has lamented over the fact that bloggers have a little more leeway than newspapers in reporting rumors and such. He always fails to mention that many times, the blogging of rumors turn out to be truth.
So it surprised me — okay, no it didn’t — when I was reading Ron Williams’ most recent column, “At Legislative Hall, it looks like those swinging ’70s all over again”, how he resorted to gossip and rumor.
Flash back to the Delaware General Assembly circa the 1970s, when white belts, plaid sport jackets and leisure suits were the uniform of the day.The booze flowed freely, cigars and cigarettes were everywhere and there were, ah, rumors. Well, some of it was rumor, but most was not. There were things going on between legislators, staffers and just about anybody you could imagine.
[snip]
Now word is trickling out from Dover that the sins of their forefathers have returned to Legislative Hall in a mind-spinning way.

There are divorces and separations either in progress or about to take place.Stay tuned to the “marriages” and “divorces” section of your local newspaper.
Who knew that wRong Williams was a blogger at heart.

Ron Williams, Delaware’s Perez Hilton.
I’m embarrassed for him.
Is there a reason to publish that if you’re not going to name the names? Don’t get me wrong, it beats another “hey you kids stop speeding past me on the highway” column, but criminy…
There was a similar situation in the Coons administration that I knew Ron knew about so when I had him on the phone for another matter (the Lee Ann Walling – Dave Carter mistake he made) I asked him why he would publish the one and not the other.
He said it was because there are so many instances down at leg hall that it wouldn’t be as obvious who was being discussed as the county hall situation would have been.
Huh? Was that even more rumor?
don’t insult Perez Hilton.
Does anyone care about this stuff outside of Ron and Nancy? Does this affect his/her/their ability to do their jobs? FTLOG.
hmm
Don’t get me wrong, it beats another “hey you kids stop speeding past me on the highway” column
Actually, it kind of is a “hey you kids stop speeding past me on the highway” column. In this case, it’s bloggers speeding past him on the media highway. His shtick is in danger!
It’s kind of funny when Ron criticizes bloggers, because his first-person multi-subject editorials resemble blog posts much more than they resemble traditional opinion columns.
“Don’t get me wrong, it beats another ‘hey you kids stop speeding past me on the highway’ column”
Don’t forget the ongoing Verizon DSL saga. Weighty stuff.
How do you italicize someone’s previous quotes? Or do you have to be one of the DL cognoscenti?
He criticizes bloggers because nobody gave them the job. See, to get his job, Ron had to work his way up through the reporting ranks for years, then become an editor and bend elbows with his superiors until he became the embodiment of the Peter Principle, and then get put out to pasture on the editorial page (at most newspapers, the editorial page is a graveyard, not a promotion). Whereas you bloggers just decided to spout your opinions without all that hard work.
Crony…they are HTML tags. I can’t give you an exact illustration, because the HTML code will disappear when entered correctly. That said, I am going to substitue characters:
The less-than character (shift + , ) will be [ and the greater-than character (shift+ .) will be shown as ].
So, where you see [, you will instead use the less-than character, and likewise for ] and the greater-than character.
To italicize, you enclose the letter i: and when you are finished with the italicized text, you end it with a / character with the i: . Here is an example:
How do you italicize someone’s previous quotes?
When done correctly (with the actual characters):
How do you italicize someone’s previous quotes?
If you want to put it in bold, you use b instead of i. There are other tags you can use, too, but get used to that first.
Hope that helps.

Hey, I work very hard! Slacking is very hard work! 😛
The Delaware Liberal Bloggers Hypocrisy Show: Expressing outrage at Bush for his misdeeds while remaining utterly silent when Oilbama does the same thing (or worse). Pot meet kettle.
I’m probably out of date with how I italicize, but here goes…
I’ll separate my symbols, but put them together when you want to italicize.
Type the symbols below, without spaces, at the beginning of what you want to italicize.
1. < (then type) 2. i (then type) 3. > (then type)
Type these symbols, without spaces, where you want to end italicizing.
1. < (then type) 2. /i (then type) 3. > (then type)
Hope that helps.
Minner crony use these HTML tags:
I want to italicize this
I want to bold this
[blockquote]I have a long quote[/blockquote]
[a href=”URL here”]I want to put a link here[/a]
Replace [ with < and replace ] with >
We’re definitely lazy, unlike Ron. We produce more material in a week while holding down full time jobs and without getting paid. I can smell the superiority.
Minner Crony — I’ve used this HTML for Bloggers page to navigate around the little bit of HTML I know. I can’t make all of it work and have no idea what the More Advanced Topics section even deals with. 😉
I’ve been wondering if we should help Ron to be even more lazy — perhaps we could forward to him some of the choicer items that get submitted to our tip line that we’d never publish. Some of that stuff seems right up his alley.
Thanks, all.
I actually build websites for a hobby so should have figured out the HTML connection. Duh.

What more can you expect from a dim-witted crony?
Hey, nice italicizing!
So…between 1979 ands now there was no sex at Leg Hall?
Duh Jason, Democrats are in charge now. That automatically means key parties.
