Unity Achieved

Filed in National by on June 7, 2008

Thank you Senator Clinton.

The way to continue our fight now, to accomplish the goals for which we stand, is to take our energy, our passion, our strength, and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States. Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him. And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.

John McCain…

    Excellent speech.

  2. Brian says:

It was a good speech. I am bummed out today, I wanted to see Jack down in Milton and my truck is broken down. 1. I do not know where I am going to get the money to fix it and 2. I hope Jack is doing well. All Dem’s should be riding high on Hillary message of conciliation. Congratulations!

  3. She still held out that she is expecting a place on the ticket. She may still fuck things up if Obama doesn’t give her what she wants. We’ll have to see whether this is about The Clintons or America.

  4. David says:

Was her showing up late akin to showing up late for your own funeral?

  5. Rebecca says:

She had Bill with her today and his is habitually at least an hour late for everything, so she did good getting there when she did. I suspect subconsciously she didn’t want to show up at all.

It was a good speech. Too bad it didn’t convince the die-hards in the group, but if they are determined to vote for a candidate who would doom our nation then so be it. We’ve lived through the Supreme Court Selection, and then the Diebold Fraud Election, I guess if they are determined to help the black-hats we’ll just have to suck it up again. Thing is, I’m not sure American can stand another four years. But have a hissy if it makes you feel good.

  6. Rebecca says:

Sorry, I’ve been trying real hard to be gracious in victory but I’m starting to run out of patience here.

  7. cassandra_m says:

It was a very strong speech, she gave it well and that could not have been easy for her. (It was certainly emotional for me and two Obama supporters I saw it with). I was impressed that she started to weave in some of Obama’s themes into her concession and especially pleased that she endorsed him unequivocally.

And as for unity? Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll finds that Obama now has 80% od Democrats over McCain — and today is the first day reported that includes 3 days of polling that just tracks McCain and Obama. That number will likely go up, but there will be HRC supporters who will hang on to whatever their issues are, but we should be content that they’ve found the party that they’re really comfortable in.

But many, many thanks are due to Senator Clinton for her words today.

  8. liz allen says:

Pundits stated it was Hilary that is always late, but they excused her lateness cuz Bill had to go over her speech! Their is no unity here not yet. Hilary knows the whole world is watching and she should have delivered todays speech the night Obama won.

Women everywhere owe Hilary a great deal. She went further than any woman has, but we still don’t have equal pay, or equity…so just how far have we actually come.

  9. TRUTH TELLER says:

Hey folks stop lying to yourselves Obama didn’t win he tied he is only the appointed winner by the votes of the party hacks. She will support him never the less you folks act as if you want her to fuck him up.
I have never in my life run in to people who have won but acted like a bunch of losers.
And as far as bill goes bring back the 90’s cheap gas balance budgets, surplus’s the world at peace and my 401k was worth twice as much
And why should she have made this speech on Tuesday night when she was kicking his ass in South Dakota

  10. jason330 says:

Which is it TT – did we win or did the party hacks hand it to our “boy” as you say?

SHeesh. Talk about acting like a loser. WE GET IT – YOU DON’T LIKE OBAMA.

Have fun voting for McCain. The Democratic party is better off without you.

Good riddance to dumb-asses like you.

  11. Von Cracker says:

Hey TT, I thought wishing that today or tomorrow is or will be the way it was [insert time frame here] is a conservative trait?

Winners lose sometime, but losers always project.

  12. Von Cracker says:

Anyway, I heard the speech. HRC was everything she needed to be.

  13. TRUTH TELLER says:

Jason you seem like a bright guy did he get 2118 pledge delegates NO and neither did she so Obama needed the votes of the Party Hacks to go over the top and she would have also so by any standers he was anointed.

ALSO read Nancy’s post above sure doesn’t sound like a winner wanting unity.

It was a great speech Von and yet some folks still can’t admit it

  14. Pandora says:

Actually TT, Jason wrote this post on unity and thanked Sen. Clinton. Cassandra and I (delaware lib. contributors) praised the speech. Our comment’s section is… well… open to comments.

Some people will never like Hillary or Obama. That’s just the way it is. Call them out, if you like, but saying “you folks” is hardly fair.

Just a suggestion… if you’re calling out someone for not wanting unity perhaps it would help your case if you didn’t use words like “annointed”.

  15. June says:

Obama didn’t win he tied he is only the appointed winner by the votes of the party hacks.

TT, if the situation were reversed and the Supers voted for Hillary, they wouldn’t be “Party hacks” then, would they?

It’s human nature for supporters of a candidate who loses in a close election to blame everyone and everything except their candidate, so go ahead. It will make you feel better. If the situation were reversed, we’d be doing the same thing.

  16. jason330 says:

You’ve got that right June – and nobody knows the struggle that Clinton people who are going through as well as former Howard Dean supporters.

Changing over to John Kerry was one the most difficult political things I ever had to do, but I did it because I am a full-grown adult and I knew the implications of nursing my bitterness.

Similarly, I guess this Clinton issue will separate the men from the boys.

  17. TRUTH TELLER says:

June if she didn’t win the magic number like Obama didn’t and it took the Supers to put her over the top then she to would have been anointed by the party hacks.

And Jason I to was upset about Dean but supported Kerry even though he was a weak candidate and stop trying to read my mind I don’t hate or dislike Obama I just thought Hillary was stronger. So it appears that you are the most stupid ass on this site by attempting to read minds

  18. Pandora says:

    TT,

Like it or not, do you accept Obama as the nominee?

If you don’t, then will you vote for McCain and continue your attacks on Obama?

If you do, will you vote for and support Obama?

Understandably, the “support” may take some time. The primary just ended.

If you want to focus on something positive… you gotta admit Obama’s taking Lieberman to the woodshed moment was delicious.

  19. Trying to clarify anything with TT concern troll will be difficult. Kudo’s to those who patiently attempt it. I think that America is going to be best served by Barack Obama and I couldn’t be more thrilled that he is now in position to take the reins.

Here is another skeptical view of Clinton II
Obama is doomed to failure so why would she want to go down in flames with him this fall against McCain?
It’s not like she hasn’t made this perfectly clear. Her feelings about Obama’s inadequacies have been articulated and broadcasted for months.
She has said he is an untried rookie who shouldn’t get the nod and can’t beat McCain. Her character assassination has been subtle but effective: The reference to Bobby Kennedy. Her doubts about his beliefs, (he’s Christian or so they tell me). Her attacks on his manhood. Her husband’s description of Obama’s entire campaign as a “fairy tale.”
All these statements and others will be generously splashed across Republican ads this fall to the point that some voters, who only wake up to their democracy during elections, may actually think she is McCain’s running-mate.
Joining the Obama teams means she will have shot herself in the foot beforehand.
So what emerges is what I believe is the Clinton no-lose strategy.
They have used Obama’s unelectability as their excuse to continue running against him even though they cannot win because, by saying he’s unelectable, they help in part to bring about his defeat.

…If she becomes Obama’s running mate, which makes sense to most Democrats, it will be because she never believed a word she said about his unelectability in the first place. And once in there, she and Bill will also make his life, and presidency should he win, miserable, according to former advisors like Dick Morris.
If, alternatively, she rejects offers to become the running-mate or play a major administration role, then she really believes Obama has no chance, she is not a team player and is willing to have Americans endure one term of McCain so she can take up White House residency in 2012.Take your pick.

  20. Pandora, have you seen the new Lieberman-for-McCain web site?

    http://www.johnmccain.com/citizens/

  21. TRUTH TELLER says:

Nancy if there is a TROLL on this site it’ appears to be YOU

He didn’t secure his win by the votes of the people only the votes of the PARTY HACKS that’s a fact so why do you deny it.
That would also be true for Hillary

And lets not forget that she kicked his ass in 9 of the last 14 contests and that’s another fact that you can’t deny.
And yes P I will vote for him

  22. Dominique says:

She kicked his ass in 9 of the last 14 contests where he was outspending her at least 2-1. She was strongest candidate with the weakest campaign. That’s how the Democratic party chooses it’s candidates which is probably why they’ve only won 3 times in the past 40 years. Why should this year be any different?

  23. Rebecca says:

Campaigns count! Sticking with the old loser squad was her undoing. He ran a better campaign with better people which makes him more electable in November.

Terry McAuliffe? Give me a break.

  24. jason330 says:

    Game. Set. Match.

  25. yup.
And he is starting right in on a 50 state strategy hitting the traditionally red states first. The economy doesn’t stop at the state line.

  26. TT, Sorry, I just don’t buy your authenticity. My bad, I’m sure.
How did Clinton count the people who supported either candidate in the caucus states? By ignoring them in her totals, that’s how.
There is no way to determine a fucking head count in her apples/oranges bullshit.
Once she started crapping all over her opponent, everyone but the uber fems and the concern trolls ran away.

  27. Dominique says:

…and the seniors and the rural blue collar workers and catholics and the hispanics and the jews.

please don’t rewrite history, dear. there’s really no need for it – your wonderchild won. it’s ok to break down your wall of hatred and be nice. hillary is not your enemy. chillax.

  28. X Stryker says:

TT – by party hacks, I’m assuming you meant Harold Ickes who stripped MI of its delegates in the first place.

  29. X Stryker says:

Dominique – Clinton only outpolls Obama among Jews vote by 7%. So you can stop claiming that my people are some kind of huge monolithic Hillary voting bloc, because we were swing voters this election, largely divided by age. 2/3rds of Jews on that poll support Obama over McCain, which islightly better than Kerry was polling at this time of year. As unity gains steam (Obama went from beating McCain by 4 to winning by 8 in the latest poll), Obama’s total with Jews will improve just as Kerry’s did (he finished with about 3/4 of the Jewish vote).

PS – Hillary likes to have her name capitalized and so do the Jews. Not that I’m a grammar tyrant, but it’s disrepectful not to capitalize proper nouns.

  30. Pandora says:

Nancy, thanks for the link. Lieberman is a republican and a tool.

X, seems to me that almost every group is divided by age. Now, I’m not the pollster, but the claim that Hillary wins the womens’ vote doesn’t ring true. Looks like she wins older (60+) women, but her strength diminishes with every age group below this. Am I wrong?

  31. anon2 says:

nancy you are quoting the “horrible” Dick Morris…who would believe anything coming out of that nutjobs mouth….only Fake Foxers would have drank any of his kool aid.

its about the uneducated….kentucky, pa, ohio, and some other states, where the poor bastards are living hand to mouth! They are church goers, there are food pantries, and they listen to those right wing pastors. West Virginia is one of the poorest states, and yet these coal miners continue to vote against themselves! Its those ministers whose faith based bullshit keep them from the truth.

  32. TRUTH TELLER says:

X STRICKER Party hacks are all those super delegates who were given a vote by their position in the Party and not like the Delegates who were given a vote by the support of the voters. You know the ones who the party deemed smarter than the rest 0f us
And yes that includes Harold Ickes

  33. Von Cracker says:

I remember the time when my baseball team scored 15 runs in the first six innings. Our opponents outscored us 9 to 3 during the final three innings.

    Did our opponents win?

These “but…but..wait!” arguments are just plain silly.

What if those 11 consecutive contests Obama won happened between March and June?

  34. TRUTH TELLER says:

Von they were Not primaries but caucuses where the majority of the voters didn’t get a chance to express their opinion.
Never the less your guy won so be a gracious winner and stop with the snide remarks you folks are suppose to be trying to win us over to your side’s so if you want us to support your man stop with the cheap shots. just remember if the party hacks went for Hillary you would be singing a different tune

  35. pandora says:

Maybe we could have some gracious losers, too?

    Stop stirring the pot!

  36. Von Cracker says:

These people will blame the hearse when they’re eventually taken to the graveyard.

It is what it is, TT, because everyone knew all the rules going into the primaries/caucuses, how they work and what was needed to be done in order to win. And I don’t consider my previous comment as being snide; it’s just a analogy, and it’s certainly applicable.

If you’re looking to blame someone, blame HRC. She was the president of her campaign; she ran like she’s the presumptive nominee. It wasn’t anyone’s fault but her own, not her supporters, the Media, Obama, or the fluoride in the water.

  37. Dominique says:

It’s really not about blame at this point. I don’t even freaking care anymore. I don’t think I could have taken another five months of Hillary bashing, to be honest. It’s about the Democratic party once again going with the weakest candidate. You can’t argue with history, guys. Sorry.

Barack Obama is a great campaigner. Regardless of how I feel about him as a candidate, there’s no denying he out-campaigned her when it counted. She kicked his ass in the end, but it obviously doesn’t make a difference at this point. That said, I can’t believe you guys are still just as full of yourselves as you were after Super Tuesday. Yes, he won the nomination. Woo hoo. Doesn’t it concern any of you even a little bit that he was, as one pundit said, crushed by a political corpse in primary after primary in spite of the fact that he had outspent her 2-3 to 1? Are you guys really so (over) confident that you don’t see that as a little bit of a problem? Is your adoration for your candidate preventing you from standing back and looking at the situation in an objective manner? Seriously – if that happened to any other candidate (even locally), what would you think of it?

  38. Dominique says:

Pandora – Not praising Obama is not ‘stirring the pot’. The few of us who come here and call him out for inconsistencies and try to get you guys to admit that he’s got a few flaws that will be problematic in November is what keeps this site from being an echo chamber. Jeez. If it wasn’t for us, this is what it would be like:

    Pandora – Obama is great!

Jason33o – Yeah! I’m going to go send him some money!

cassandra m – Did you see him yesterday with Time Russert? He was perfect!

X-Stryker – Does anyone have the link to his most recent stump speech? It was great.

Jason330 – I’m going to write him another check!

Seriously, to borrow from the great Marshall Mathers, it’d be so empty without me (and TT and anon2 and anyone else brave enough to enter this site and face the lions).

  39. Von Cracker says:

    Over-confidence? No, not really.

If you look at the breakdown of the states HRC won, they were tailor-made for her – she would’ve won them if they were held in late 2007 or in January.

This is what I don’t get…. You’re expectation for Obama was to win all or most of the contests after Super Tuesday just because he was in the lead at that time?

That’s rich. People will vote for who they want, when they want. If it’s inevitability that makes you think that, then how is that accomplished?

Should have all the voters in PA gotten together somewhere in Lycoming county just before the primary with the purpose of coming to a mass consensus?

And don’t use that lame “Obama had more money” excuse. Hillary has more name recognition in this country than Jesus.

  40. pandora says:

I am well aware of my candidates strengths and weaknesses. And I could easily accuse you of what you accuse me. Your constant theme is Hillary is the stronger candidate. Really? How in the hell do you prove that?

Another theme is that Hillary was defeated by sexism. Well… if this is true then how would she have won against McCain.

Don’t misunderstand me. I think both Hillary and Obama are highly electable. I think both are strong candidates. I just find your narrative inconsistent. Shouldn’t a “strong” candidate have owned the sexism issue?

  41. Von Cracker says:

This should be in the “Healing” thread, but the damn site ate my comment!::::

Personally, I have no problem with Nuclear Technology. The French do a very good, and safe, job with it.

His contributions during this election have been by us. Yes, rich people contribute, that’s their discretion and right. Oil execs contribute to his campaign too, but as individuals, not part of a consolidated group so they can wield influence.

    Rezko? Whatever, that’s a non-story.

Anyway, I’m sure, just like everyone on this Earth, Obama’s done something he’s not proud of during his political rise in order to get where he is.

I’m not saying the ends justify the means either, what I am saying is he has gotten where he is during this executive campaign by stating a conscientious effort to move away from monolithic influence and toward a plural one, meaning individual citizens.

And yes, I do find the word ‘ordinary’ condescending. Just like how the only hard-working people in this country are white, blue-collar folks.

But what do you expect from insular morons who’ve never left the confines of DC. They think they’re the arbiters of conventional wisdom, but in reality, they’re the actors and entertainers of the Greek and Roman times….They might go to all the great parties, have money, and live the lifestyle they’ve always wanted, but what they don’t know (or want to admit) is that, deep down, the true aristocracy mocks and laughs at them, and will always believe that these useful tools are a lesser lot….just like us!

  42. Dominique says:

vc – of course i didn’t expect him to win every contest after super tuesday. that’s ridiculous. what i didn’t expect was for her to kick his ass in double digits in the last few primaries when the news was running ‘the math’ proof that she could never win in a 24/7 loop. you can’t gloss over the fact that he outspent the hell out of her. that’s not a lame excuse. you know as well as i do that those funds buy ad time – a lot of it – that goes a long way. speaking of lame excuses, you pulled the ‘name recognition’ one. please. that may have been true in iowa and new hampshire, but but name recognition had nothing to do with how she finished in pa, wv, ky, and pr. he was hardly an unknown by april. he was already a media rock star by then. she beat him by double digits when everyone knew those primaries weren’t going to be enough to put her over the top regardless of how they ended. nevermind that, if anything, the ‘clinton’ name was hurting her after super tuesday (actually, after sc).

p – she is stronger on the issues (i know you watched those debates…there’s a reason he didn’t want to do any more of them). she out-endured him (tho, i would expect no less from a woman – we’re world-class multi-taskers :)). she has the ‘reagan dem’ support while his supporters are more left-left-left (like you) who are willing to vote for the dem candidate no matter what…meaning, contrary to what he said, she was more likely to get his voters than he was to get hers. she was the stronger candidate by all measures that matter in the general.

i have never said that hillary was defeated by sexism, nor did she, but there was no denying that sexism played a role in the way her campaign was covered. did it impact her campaign in a huge way? probably not, but it certainly didn’t help her when pundits and journalists used phrases like ‘hellish housewife’ to describe her. if i hear one more person say that she shattered the glass ceiling, i might scream. if anything, she just lifted it from an 8ft to a 9 ft ceiling. it’s in no way shattered.

i think she was defeated first and foremost by her terrible campaign strategy, then by a pro-obama media, then by a strong obama campaign that relied heavily on distracting from the core issues and focusing media attention on things like ‘fairy tale’ and ‘jesse jackson’ comments (ironic, considering his campaign message) it was the perfect storm of campaign failure.

  43. Von Cracker says:

I do believe there was some Obama blowback in the late primaries, a lot of women and ‘hard-working’ men felt it was necessary to make their voices heard after he took the large lead.

This thread didn’t take my post either – but to address your contribution points….I did my vetting of Obama and his political contributors. The nuclear ones didn’t really concern me. What I care about is he’s running for POTUS using a system for fundraising that is turning away from the Monolithic model and moving toward a populist one…meaning that it’s driving by the individual…

  44. Dominique says:

it was the same method dean and ron paul used. in fact, i would guess that ron paul is the only one who truly did it through individual contributions. obama gets millions of dollars from corporations and special interests.

nancy you are quoting the “horrible” Dick Morris
    *
er, no, the author of the piece includes Morris in one of the many points raised.
I assume that she used him because of ‘position’ to give his first-hand accounting of life in the WH with Bill and co. I am no Morris fan. He is a turncoat, whore-toe lickin’ Fux News fave.

  49. Hillary Clinton stood to turn the Obama momentum inside out during the drug-out, Wright-infested, Bitter-gated run-up to her successful PA vote.
Fortunately for me, that moment came and went when he stormed NC in the next round and she barely held Indiana, Dom and TT revisionism non-withstanding.
I was ready to reconcile myself to a vote for yet another Clinton at that time. I think that either of the front-runner DEMs would have beaten the GOP and that the country desparately needs to rid itself of bleak future offered by a GOP candidacy.

  50. jason330 says:

Thank you anon. Hillary was so great that she lost after being the front runner for 10 months.

    Very great indeed.

  51. TRUTH TELLER says:

We all better wake up he is tied with the old man and in some polls lags behind but not by much I’ll admit, however what worries me the most is where’s the bounce that everybody gets after sewing up a race. it’s not there, is something wrong here

  52. where’s the bounce that everybody gets after sewing up a race
    *
You had ought to ask this of Bill and Hill since it was her ungracious inability to concede that she lost the nomination race last Tuesday, with McAuliffe introducing her as the next president of the USA, that diluted any ‘bumpability’.

  53. jason330 says:

There there TT, my little frightened lamb.

In not-for-attribution interviews, a number of Republicans were neither optimistic about his chances nor positive in their assessment of his campaign so far.

“I think we’ve got a world of problems,” said one Republican strategist with extensive experience in presidential campaigns. He said this came home to him with a thud when he watched Obama and McCain give speeches last Tuesday, with the Democrat speaking before “20,000 screaming fans, while John McCain looked every bit of his 72 years” in a speech televised from New Orleans. This Republican cited the liberal blogger Atrios’ description of McCain’s speech with a green backdrop that made McCain “look like the cottage cheese in a lime Jell-O salad.” -via kos

Don’t worry your little head. Just write a check to Obama and let your worries drift away.

Unless, of course you are one of those “I ain’t gonna vote for some nigger” Clinton people..?

If so, go take a flying fuck at a rolling donut.

  54. Jason! Geez-a-weeza

In polite company, are we not?

BTW guys, I have had nothing but grief with the new-fangled editing program you have put in place. The first time I used it all was well but the last few times it totally froze the site and for a while before that was impossibly slow. Get rid of it.

  55. jason330 says:

That happened to me at home with my mac – but it worked fine in the office.

  56. Al Mascitti says:

“Hey folks stop lying to yourselves Obama didn’t win he tied he is only the appointed winner by the votes of the party hacks. ”

The problem with your mantra, TT, is that Hillary was the one who romanced the party hacks for more than a year. You’re as clueless as you are unoriginal.

  57. Dominique says:

Al – Please. Obama ‘romanced’ the party hacks just as much as the Clintons did. In fact, he obviously edged them out.

Jason – Why are you so hostile? Why can’t you simply express an opinion without being childish and vicious? Do you think that helps get your point across? It doesn’t. In fact, it kind of invalidates whatever your point may be.

Nancy – It’s neither here nor there at this point (obviously), but he was supposed to win by 20 points in NC and by a comfortable margin in IN. The fact that that was barely reported is further proof of the pro-Obama media. The perfect storm. It just wasn’t Hillary’s year.

  58. jason330 says:

It doesn’t. In fact, it kind of invalidates whatever your point may be.

So says the Queen if invalid points.

  59. jason330 says:

  60. Dominique says:

My points may be invalid to you, but at least I’m capable of stating them without people wondering if I’m 12 years old.

Seriously. You’re obviously a very smart guy. Your posts are generally pretty normal and intelligently written, then your alter-ego comes out in the comments section. His name is Jake. He has blond hair, freckles, a dirty hands, a dirty face and a slingshot in his back pocket (think Dennis the Menace). Jake totally screws your credibility. You should really talk to him about that.

  62. I am in IE on a Dell.

  63. Nancy – It’s neither here nor there at this point (obviously), but he was supposed to win by 20 points in NC and by a comfortable margin in IN. The fact that that was barely reported is further proof of the pro-Obama media.

Sorry that you are such an ass on the intertubes, D, it makes it very difficult to run a discourse with someone who constantly twists the discussion into her rhetorical bull.

I know what a few other polls said before hand too. Do you reflect here a selection that suits your frame-of-mind?
Don’t insult Obama’s victory with the insult of margins made out of wholecloth. The fight was close. Cleanse your addled brain with some bleach, obey your mistress and get in line to support Obama or get off trying to pretend that you give a shit about the fate of our country.
If you don’t know where McCain is taking us, you’re not worth one second of my time. This is not a partisan position either. The country is going to hell because of GOP/DLC greed.

The biggest story being covered up by Big corporate media…is this fact. The same ole voting machines used in 2000, 2004 are still being used. There are national groups across the country exposing the voting machine fraud, which is why the “pundit talking heads”, couldn’t figure out why the “exit polls” didnt work this time. The exit polls were fine…it was the faulty voting machines spitting out numbers that didnt match the paper ballots. Corporate media doesnt want to expose this horror, because they are fearful the “public won’t vote”. RECOUNT on HBO is a clear historical example of what the McCain neo cons will be doing in 2008.

I have said consistently there has been a democratic machine politics in this country for decades just like the repukes. Clintons, Rendell, Minner, and the rest are part of that machine. I don’t buy everything Obama stands for, but he is in my opinion our last great hope. Yesterday the democrat party sent out a memo to all candidates running not to accept any lobbyists money…which is a great beginning. Delaware would do well to rid the democrat party of its neo cons like Torturin Tom for one.

  66. Al Mascitti says:

What do you propose be done, Liz?

  67. Al Mascitti says:

“Al – Please. Obama ‘romanced’ the party hacks just as much as the Clintons did. In fact, he obviously edged them out. ”

Bullshit. Hillary went to the party hacks and demanded their support back when her only real opponent was John Edwards, before Obama even announced he was running. It’s no accident that she had the endorsements from, and won, all the Democratic-machine-dominated states except Illinois.

  68. Dominique says:

    Nancy –

You throw your pinheaded opinion out there replete with ‘revisionism’ and I’m an ass for calling you out on it? That’s rich.

In the months I have visited these sites I have yet to see you engage in any kind of conversation that serves any other purpose than to antagonize those who don’t agree with you. You have absolutely nothing substantive to offer in any discussion. You simply show up and launch personal attacks at those who don’t agree with you. Perhaps a few years in therapy and a battery of doctors will shed some light on what causes you to harbor that kind of anger and resentment toward others.

  69. Dominique says:

Gee, Al, I wonder how Barack ended up winning. I suppose they all flocked to him because they believed in his message. That’s probably why they waited until the very last minute. I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they were reportedly told by people like Bill Richardson that Barack would remember their support if it came on a timely basis.

I know you guys don’t want to think ugly thoughts about prince charming, but he’s no different than any other politician. He’s just a smoother operator.

  70. Andy says:

Didn’t Obama lose in PA because he would’nt pay the Local Party Hacks to get out the vote (Street Money)

  71. Pandora says:

Actually, I think the super delegates were scared shitless. They never thought the race would be this close and that they would have to decide. I think they held out to save their own butts. They are, after all, politicians and party insiders. Can’t be too careful.

  72. Al Mascitti says:

“I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they were reportedly told by people like Bill Richardson that Barack would remember their support if it came on a timely basis.”

Which is, of course, exactly what Hillary did first.

OK, so he’s a politician. Brilliant point you’ve got there, D. I’ve never heard you say it before. Tell us again what a brilliant man McCain is while you’re at it.

  73. Sorry D, you are an ass. No amount of getting around that will bring you any respect from progressives who are actually paying attention.
I give you plenty of contemplative opinion and standing facts, all of the time but your raging hormones (?) bind your reason and the subsequent nonsense makes you a deserving target. Sure you are raging now: thin-skinned block haid! Mike Matthews took you on because you are pure entertainment gold.
Please try not to take yourself to seriously. Take some higher education courses or perhaps take Frieda to lunch and Get A Clue!

  74. TRUTH TELLER says:

You know Al after reading all you comments there is only one reason they are so disjointed and that is YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT

  75. X Stryker says:

    “YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT”

Hard to argue with that incredible logic. Not a troll at all, really.

  76. X Stryker says:

We all better wake up he is tied with the old man and in some polls lags behind but not by much I’ll admit, however what worries me the most is where’s the bounce that everybody gets after sewing up a race. it’s not there, is something wrong here

    Here it is.

Obama has consistently held a lead of five to seven percentage points each night since it was reported that Hillary Clinton intended to suspend her campaign. These represent Obama’s strongest showing versus McCain to date in Gallup Poll Daily tracking of registered voters’ presidential election preferences. For much of the time since Gallup began tracking general election preferences in mid-March, McCain and Obama have been in a statistical dead heat.

  77. TRUTH TELLER says:

I am really surprised that some folks got upset with me when I suggested that Al who has trouble telling the difference between a BIG MAC and Chicken Nuggets stated he was Full of Shit and not one of you so called Liberals batted an Eye when Jason used the N word
either you think it is ok for folks of your Ilk to use that word or you are totally unaware of the baggage that is attached to it.

And Al for a guy who has a radio show get your facts straight Obama kissed the super
Political hacks asses long before Hillary attempted to garnish their favor. Or maybe you preder to be a LITTLE RUSH Limpball

  78. Dominique says:

Gee, Nance, I guess it’s a good thing the very last thing I give a flying fuck about is respect from progressives.

My hormones are just fine, thanks. I would expect a man to assume that a woman with an opinion is the victim of raging hormones. Then again, you have that whole woman-hating resentment thing going on, so it makes sense that you would feel that way, too. Do you even remember what it feels like to have hormones?

Al – You’re just great. ‘Hillary did it first’. Wow. Does my time machine work? Am I back at St. Anthony’s schoolyard circa 1978?

I guess I should be happy that you don’t resort to reducing your entire post to hurling insults with absolutely no ‘contemplative opinion’.

  79. TRUTH TELLER says:

Dom the main point of AL’s statement HILLARY did it first is that it is WRONG

That’s half the problem with this Blog they throw out one liners but their facts are wrong

  80. Von Cracker says:

Can’t we just all get along island iced tea?!?

  81. liberalgeek says:

Actually, I took Al’s statement to mean that this is the sort of thing that ALL politicians do. Hillary started out with almost every super that was committed. I’m really not sure why you think that Hillary wasn’t up to the same thing.

TT, I know that you have been involved in a form of politics before. When you attempted to make a change to the status quo, did you or did you not remember which people went along with you early and which went kicking and screaming?

Richardson may have seen the writing on the wall, he may have seen racist overtones in the Clinton campaign. I don’t know, and neither do you. There are lots of plausible explanations, but guess what? Richardson is a politician, also.

As for the N word, I personally don’t use it except to make a point of pointing out racism, and I use it derisively. I don’t think I have ever used the word to demean an African American. I suspect the same is true of Jason. If you would like an example of the offensive use of a word, check out what McCain called his wife in 2000.

  82. liberalgeek says:

VC, the Tea sounds like a great plan. To tell the truth, I am getting sick of defending Obama’s win. Inebriation sounds like a reasonable strategy…

  83. Pandora says:

Count me in for inebriation. I’m so over this pointless conversation.

  84. cassandra_m says:

I’m in for Long Island Iced Tea too!

And tomorrow let’s remember that all kinds of really interesting news is happening out there.

Fighting last Monday’s fight isn’t exactly progressive, you know?

  85. Von Cracker says:

Gotta be at the next DL then… Is it soon or what, LG?

BTW – Impeachment is ON the table. And no matter what you think of him, Kucinish IS making a reasonable case.

    Check out C-SPAN now…..

  86. liberalgeek says:

Last Thursday of the month, I think. Seems so far away…

Hey we can get together for the bloggers bash planning! It sounds enough like work, that my wife might let me go… 🙂

  87. cassandra_m says:

The Jazz Festival in Wilmington starts next week — it is free and you can bring your own beverages!

  88. Pandora says:

I leave for the beach on the 20th and won’t be back until the kids start school. Anyone free the week of the 16th?

  89. Al Mascitti says:

Ooh, the coward known at “truth” teller now uses capital letters for his name. That makes his insults so much more clever!

You and Dom both seem to like alternative history. Let’s see now. Here’s one:

    http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=1962

Check the date on that endorsement: June 2007. Before Obama entered the race.

    Here’s another from June 2007:

    http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=334×197

Check the names on those lists. See any superdelegates there?

Really, the two of you are as clumsy as you are stupid.

  90. Al Mascitti says:

“Al – You’re just great. ‘Hillary did it first’. Wow. Does my time machine work? Am I back at St. Anthony’s schoolyard circa 1978?”

No, you’re getting a lesson in history. Sorely needed, I see.

“I guess I should be happy that you don’t resort to reducing your entire post to hurling insults with absolutely no ‘contemplative opinion’.”

It wasn’t an insult, Ms. “I’m as smart as any college graduate.” It was a fact. Sorry you didn’t recognize it as such.

  91. Al Mascitti says:

“And Al for a guy who has a radio show get your facts straight Obama kissed the super
Political hacks asses long before Hillary attempted to garnish their favor. Or maybe you preder to be a LITTLE RUSH Limpball”

Wrong, and poorly written besides. You’re about as useful as a polished turd. And a coward.

  92. Dominique says:

    Al –

You really need not get your panties in a twist. If you notice, I never claimed that Hillary didn’t do it. I know she lobbied hard for those SD’s. I don’t think it’s any great sin for either of them (Hillary or Barack) to do it. You were the one who originally stated that Hillary ‘romanced the party hacks more than a year ago’ and implied that Barack had not. I was simply stating that he was guilty of doing the exact same thing. Jesus. Do you guys read the comments or do you just scan them for specific words and phrases that you can blow completely out of context and/or proportion and go off on fact-checking missions? What a bunch of internet geeks.

What difference does it even make at this point? Obama won. Relax. Enjoy. Stop calling people stupid, it’s really not necessary. We all know you’re the smartest one here* without you pointing it out for everyone.

*Except for Steve Newton; he’s WAY smarter than you, dude. Sorry.

  93. Al Mascitti says:

Dom: I agree that Steve is the smartest one here. And the line “clumsy as you are stupid” wasn’t meant seriously; it’s a quote from Darth Vader. Should have used an emoticon after that one.

The vitriol wasn’t aimed at you, it was aimed at “truth teller.” I respect you even when I disagree with you, because you are being honest and open when you comment. TT is hiding behind his/her alias to take personal shots at me (absurd, harmless ones, but still) and has never added anything to anyone’s understanding of the Democrats’ situation.

As for enjoying Obama’s victory, I’m not invested in it. I’m not as skeptical as you are about him, but your point that he’s a politician like any other has never been disputed by me. I hope he can bring about some changes in the system — the fact that he built on the Howard Dean model and made financing a campaign through small donations possible is one example — but I’m not banking on it.

Regardless, the money angle is not insignificant. By the end of the race both Obama and Clinton were raising more money from real people than from fat cats and lobbyists. That would have been unthinkable back in the ’90s.

  94. and not one of you so called Liberals batted an Eye when Jason used the N word

    *
TT the Troll, that isn’t true, I called him out. Stop lying!

  95. Donna, you make a great Republican. Mebbe there is a future for you in AM radio.

  96. BTW, I might as well take a second to refute the non-factual memes that Mrs. Marshall is starting to weave about me.
Regardless of what you conclude, D, I am proud Dirty Fucking Hippie (google it, the phrase is specific). I stand for peace and prayer, believe in god and country and would not hesitate to burn the flag in protest of leadership that abuses the constitution and rights of Americans.
And, I am a feminist (google that too if you are at all confused). I stand for the world’s mothers and daughters having their full rights and equality in every facet of life. That includes the right to unabashedly chose leadership with male genitalia.
Ruth Ann Minner has ‘lifted women’ into leadership but it isn’t a very noble bunch. Lee Ann Walling? Valerie Woodruff? I could go on.
Celia Cohen has a piece up about the Minner and her scandalous maneuverering that placed the well-documented unethical former AG, Jane Brady, onto the bench. [That might have had more to do with a bargain with Joe Biden to place his kid into office (Danberg was the default AG finally chosen, google that too, interesting story that you no doubt ignored at the time)].
The point is that as our first female governor, perhaps she got votes for what represents her crotch and oh what a disaster she has been.
I see in Minner’s staunch support of Hillary Clinton, a reflection of your mind-set, in that it seems like there is a pussy agenda that over-rides common sense and rational behavior (hence the hormone ‘joke’).

  97. TRUTH TELLER says:

Nancy you are the biggest Repuk Troll on this site and Al you are nothing but a Rush limpball wannabe. It would be nice if either of you would add something to this blog beside name calling. I am surprised that none of you found that Jason’s use of the N word offenses just goes to show that you so called liberals feel that you are better than our Black brothers

  98. Asshat, TT I did find it offensive and said as much immediately after Jason said it. What The Fuck is your problem with telling the truth, Troll?

  99. liberalgeek says:

Truthy, you are ignoring, or missing, the above discussion of the N word. Nancy’s comment (#54) was her response to the use of the word. You can see my response at #81.

Do you think that phrase has not been used by people in this state?

  100. Al Mascitti says:

Add something besides namecalling? Do you know how to use the links I provided? When have you done anything as constructive?

The only limp thing I see around here is your cowardice. Come out with a name, buttmunch, or shut your pie hole. What’s the matter, is acting brave against your union rules?

  101. Dominique says:

    Al –

FTR, you are one of a handful of Obama supporters that I truly respect. I can see what people like about him; he’s very charismatic. I just have a problem with the complete lack of skepticism that I hear from most of his supporters. It’s the reason they’ve been mocked for being ‘sheep’, ‘cult-like’, ‘zombies’, etc. If their support had been based less on blind faith and more in reality (like not buying into his change message without asking questions), I think the party would be far less divided.

From where I’m sitting, it looks like the Clinton half of the party is the responsible parents and the Obama half of the party is the idealistic kids. I don’t mean that to sound condescending at all. I know that the responsible parents are kind of a drag and idealistic kids breathe life into society, but we need both to survive. Unfortunately, this crop of idealistic kids has a total ‘fuck you’ attitude about their need for responsible parents which is just not sitting well with me.

  102. Dominique says:

Oh, and sorry I didn’t get the Darth Vader reference. Who knew you were such a geek? 😉

  103. jason330 says:

FTR, you are one of a handful of Obama supporters that I truly respect.

    Oh SNAP!

I am cut to the quick!

  104. TRUTH TELLER says:

Buttmunch Pie Hole Wow what a command of the English language you have. I believe a second grader has better command. I notice that you still refuse to rebuke Jason on his use of the N word so it must be part of your everyday talking points you so called liberals are so elite. By your post here i know i was right about you
not being able to tell the difference between Chicken Salad and chicken shit.
I think you should read Richard Cohen’s column in today’s Washington Post for I believe he is talking about you and your Ilk

  105. Al Mascitti says:

If you didn’t understand his use of the word — and from your comments I’m quite sure you didn’t — you should, as I recommended, shut your pie hole. Coward. Just give your name, little man. You can do it, can’t you?

    Who’s limp again?

  106. Al Mascitti says:

Dom: Good analogy, and accurate if a little condescending. To extend that analogy, I think the lesson will be learned to better effect if the kids find out the truth for themselves.

  107. TRUTH TELLER says:

    AL

Little Rush Limbaugh i see that you still insist on using childish name calling maybe one of these days we will be able to disagree with out you resulting to using gutter language ; However, I don’t believe that day will ever come .
So i will sit hear as a mature Adult and wait to see if you will ever grow up.

  108. Al Mascitti says:

Now we can add hypocrisy to your list of shortcomings. Nobody here (and that is how it’s spelled, genius — H-E-R-E) indulges less in debate and more in insults than you. You have exactly one point — superdelegates decided the nomination. So what? I don’t disagree — I just think you’re shallow, stupid and cowardly. You prove it every time you post.

I do apologize for calling you a polished turd. You don’t have the integrity to be a turd. You’re just a mushy little pile of it.

  109. Al Mascitti says:

P.S. — What union are you in? I want to make sure I never hire anyone from it.
