Ask Not For Whom The Clue Phone Rings…
It rings for thee…
This is a tidy explanation of what most passionate Clinton supports don’t get.
What’s got Democrats worried (Democrats always worry, usually out loud and to the press) is party unity. And there’s no question Obama has his work cut out for him. Now, here’s the thing. If I had a nickel for every idiot pundit who says (as Jay Carney did Sunday on ABC with George S) that since Obama lost PA to Clinton, therefore PA is trouble for him in the fall, I’d be a very rich man. No candidate runs in a vacuum (otherwise the lopsided generic wins for D vs R mean we wouldn’t need to discuss the election at all.) Obama lost to a very strong and vigorous Democrat in Pennsylvania, not a tired and inarticulate 71 year old Republican who looked every year of his age Tuesday night. He’s running with Ed Rendell’s machine, not against it. And he’s running against the McCain family, including John “you voted 100% of the time with Bush in 2008 and 95% of the time in 2007” McCain. – via kos
Of course there are still the “ain’t gonna vote for (the black guy)” Clinton supporters – but they are a lost cause.
Clinton and Obama both have built in negatives when it comes to race and gender. Some people would never vote for a black man, some would never vote for a woman. No matter who won the primary race or gender was going to be an issue.
Up until Saturday this was a three way race. Now that it’s down to two things should start to change.
There is an argument that Hillary also had built-in anti-Clinton negatives. It is my belief that the fact that she was a Clinton would have rallied the Republican base to the point of sinking her candidacy. As it stands, that group has no candidate. McCain has many enemies in that group and Obama is a Dem.
I suspect they stay home in droves.
Good point Geek.
Hillary was the one slim hope that the republicans had this time. That is why Rove was pushing so hard for her.
The Clintons were no friend to working people. John McCain one of the Keating 5 (you can google), regarding the Savings and Loan Scandal of the 1980’s. Dennis Deconcini was a democrat who was caught in that scandal. So what did Billary do in 1995….appointed this corrupt official as head of the Federal Home Loan Mortage Dept. Wonder why our homes are being foreclosed on….check Phil Gramm, McCains economic guru….he is one of the most corrupt public officials…he is McCains economic advisor. Under Phil Gramm our mortagages went nuts, our energy went nuts and he worked for the wealthiest americans, while screwing the common working person. Like McMad better check him out. One of the public groups checking on corruption (it might have been Public Integrity) states that McMad is one of the most corrupt public officials. All you dems thinking of voting for that 100% neo con, please stay home or get educated before you vote.
Just heard on MSNBC fixed news…that NJ and Delaware are going for McCain. These obvious lies prove we can not trust corporate media. Contessa on the 12:00 program made this comment! Now where did they get that information, perhaps from Priscilla Rakestraw…or the GOP of Delaware. Fixing the news is not news….the corporate media does it every day. Its pathetic.
The only way McCain wins is if he takes that hottie from Alaska as his running mate. This way he will get the female dems. that would have voted for Hillary to swing to his side beacause you know he’ll be dead in six months if elected. You see, first female president. Just in a roundabout way.
