No Comment From Castle’s Office on Impeachment Vote
I hope Liz had her facts right because I just called Castle’s offcie to get his statement on his vote with the Democrats to impeach George Bush – and they knew nothing about it.

Gosh they knew nothing about it what’s Mike been doing sleeping doing the debate

Perhaps it is another sign of the arrogance of incumbency but given the caliber of his opponents, he can sail to victory with most of his supporters holding their noses.
Voters in Maryland’s First District did to the right thing in their district this year.
Pehaps the Representative may yet redeem himelf with a vote to drill now (or as soon as possible). Then again, he could maintain an attitude that is the modern equivalent of ‘let them eat cake’.
Art – Are trying to tell me that you DON’T think Bush should be impeached?
Uhhh, for what did Mr Castle vote, to send M<r Kucinich’s articles of impeachment to the Judiciary Committee? Because if that’s how he voted, it was a vote to kill the whole thing, just like was done with the Distinguished Gentleman from Ohio’s attempt last fall to have Vice President Cheney impeached.
If that is his rationale for the vote why doesn’t he say it?
What’s with all the mystery?
Also why switch from being opposed when this dealt with Cheney to being in favor as pertains to GWB?
I’m thinking that being a Bush Republican in a blue state is starting to wig out Mr. Castle.
Jason….lay off the congressman’s balding head or are you suggesting he needs a wig?
Jason is suggesting that Mike needs to smoke a big fatty, chill and give up being a Bush republican in a blue state. I’d wig out too if I supported him.
I would never have posted Mike Castles vote for impeachment without researching it…in fact I get a “megavote” email daily, which tells me how they all vote.
Whether impeachment “goes anywhere” or not is not the question. The fact that McCastle did vote for it…went against his party where he voted with MCBush 95% of the time, and then vote for impeachment, says only one thing.
McCastle is terrified of Karen Hartley-Nagle, he has done the polling and he knows he is in “serious trouble in Delaware”. I hear even some of the moderate, and good republicans are voting for Karen…he knows that too!
As far as wigs…McCastle back in the “70’s had a closet full of them”.
The vote was on a motion to refer the bill to the House Judiciary Committee.
A victory of sorts, (there was no vote to impeach on the floor ) Here is how they all voted, the numbers are impressive

Never thought Castle would vote for it, Yes he DID vote to proceed
Castle is in a tough spot. He needs to hold onto the wingnuts, but knows that Delaware is a blue state.
With the Republican brand so damaged how many voters will simply vote all Dem? I know Delaware usually splits the ticket, but this year I’m not so sure… and, it seems, neither is Castle.
He may be jittery, but not “terrified.”
It would have to be a Dem wave even bigger than the one I’m predicting.
There is a large segment of the population that will pick Castle out of muscle memory without a glimmer of a thought about the fact that he has been supporting Bush all of these years.
What does that mean? Castle can only hurt himself by waking up the sleepwalkers. I’ll bet he keeps a VERY low profile – and talks only to Celia Cohen and the News Journal over the next 5 months.
They will congratulate him in print for being such a swell guy.
