Races To Watch – The Very Early Line
Governor
Democrat: Jack Markell (Incumbent)
Republican: Terry Spence (Disgraced former Legislator)
Outcome: Markell does not break a sweat trouncing this sad sack.
US Senate – DEM PRIMARY
Democrat: Tom “I’m a Republican!” Carper (Incumbent)
Democrat: Mike Matthews (Former blogger, Former Heavy Guy)
Outcome: You know full well that this would be awesome.
US Senate
Democrat: Tom “You Looking at Me?!” Carper (Incumbent)
Republican: Kevin Wade (Nutbag, Flat Tax Advocate & Hair Club for Men Reject)
Outcome: In spite of the primary, perhaps the most one sided election in the history of Delaware politics.
US House of Representatives
Democrat: John Carney (Incumbent)
Republican: Glen Urquhart (Thinks separation of Church and State is a Nazi Plot)
Outcome: Urquhart edges Wade to win the second biggest loser crown.
Lt Governor
Democrat: Matt Denn (Incumbent)
Republican: Charles Lamot DuPont Copeland (Glutton for Punishment)
Outcome: Copeland’s bizarre West Wilmington strategy still sucks.
Insurance Commissioner – DEM PRIMARY
Democrat: Mitch Crane (former IC Acting Director of Consumer Services)
Democrat: Karen Weldin Stewart (Incumbent, Glamour Shots Advocate)
Outcome: Crane wins 57-43, bringing consumer protection back to the forefront of the IC’s
.
It’s not easy to be a Republican in Delaware.
I wish Copeland would run against Carper instead. He’s the only Dem on the list I truly can’t stomach. Until that happens, someone needs to start recruiting Mike Matthews to primary him, STAT. That would be epic.
Insurance Commissioner
Democrat: Mitch Crane (former IC Acting Director of Consumer Services)
Democrat: Karen Weldin Stewart (Incumbent)
Outcome: Crane wins 57-43, bringing consumer protection back to the forefront of the IC’s office.
D’oh I forgot that one.
My wild-ass guess: Look for Vance Phillips to step up for lieutenant governor. He’s been building a tax-cutting, spending-cutting record in Sussex that he plans to run for something on. (And I don’t think it’ll be the State Senate – that’s Danny Short’s to lose.) If Vance runs and loses to Denn, he’ll still have his Sussex seat to fall back on. He’ll have the Kent and Sussex partiers as his foot soldiers and Urquhart’s money in the bank.
Oh my…that would be interesting.
I do turn 30 next year…
Run, Mike, Run. Teachers will support you.
I think I’m just going to sit this one out. It would be fun, no doubt, but I don’t think I really have the stomach for it. I know how Carper’s people work and it wouldn’t be pretty in the end. For either of us.
Gov: Markel runs on both lines and gets more votes as the R that he is
US Senate Carper V COD and the bitch gets 49%!
US House As the Only Dem in the field John C. Draws Vance the “Watermellon Man” Phillips but hangs on to the vine:)
Lt Gov. Matt, “I am a total phoney”, Denn gets a run against Colin, Fat boy Bonini the “Christie Wanna be”, with both being losers who gives a rats ass?
DL’s girl everybody loves to hate will go up against the guy who quit because his job was toooo hard wah, wah! The challenger will get 100% of the PA vote the incumbent will get 55% of the real vote da da da the hate goes on:)
I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy Staton runs for the new Senate seat unopposed. Or his challenger is Brent Wangen…same thing.
I would really love to see someone from the ‘Democratic wing of the Democratic Party’ challenge Carper.
Turn the supposed big disadvantage into an advantage: Pound away at just how corporate funded this Democrat of convenience is. Run a real grassroots campaign fueled by small contributions. Argue that it’s time for Democrats to protect those who have been ignored and sold down the river for so long.
It needs to be someone credible, not a mere gadfly. But I think people are really fed up. They just aren’t presented with viable alternatives. Under that scenario, Carper could be forced to sweat and, considering the mood of the voters, it’s entirely possible he could be swept out on a populist wave.
There’s very few people with time, money and credibility to take on Carper. If we really want to get someone to do that, we need some kind of PAC to raise money and recruit a candidate.
You sweep out Carper in favor of someone with less name recog, and you end up with Senator Wade or Senator Copeland. Di we learn nothing from Mike Castle?
anon beat me to that. The best case would be a gadfly who could lose to Carper but move him toward being a real Democrat.
Interesting projections. I hope that you’re right about the outcomes. Especially Mitch Crane winning. He’s a great person.
Tom Carper may be aloof and inaccessible, but sleaze queen Karen Weldin Stewart has him beat in that department. It’s the only one where she’s way ahead of the competition. Go Mitch!
If you think Stewart ran dirty campaigns the three times she tried for insurance commissioner until she finally rode into office on Obama’s coat tails, you ain’t seen nothing yet. This will be a fight to the death to keep her cash cow. Mouthpiece Elliott Jacobson already started. His 65 year old “girl” is toast and so is his cut of the pie. You’d think they’d take their bribe and kickback money and get the hell out before the authorities catch up to them.
Listen to anon and don’t screw it up with Carper. Learn from what the wing nuts did to Castle. Suffer through 6 more years of Carper and keep some assorted nut job who thinks that separation of church and state doesn’t exist and a woman in the 21st Century should die having an unviable fetus out of the fucking US Senate.
Be smart, don’t be the liberal equivalent of a tea bagger.
I call BS on the ‘liberal equivalent of a tea bagger’ meme.
There is no such thing as that. As whacky as the teabaggers are, they’ve got Koch money and powerful influences exploiting their wingnuttery. I don’t see a Democratic equivalent.
I think that if someone with credibility, but not gobs of money, ran on the basis of NOT accepting huge bucks from the lobbyists who take up residence in Carper’s office, one being accountable to the true constituents–average Delawareans, those who have been ignored and/or cast aside in this economy that only benefits the wealthy, they could create a grassroots firestorm.
I think that many people here have not yet come to grips with how severely this (I think permanent) economic downsizing has hit people. I think they are ready for someone to challenge this notion of “Just be good little sheep, suffer through six more years of Carper and what he represents, and maybe we’ll deign to give you someone better next time.” Ed Freel couldn’t have written it any better himself.
Just look how many people have galvanized around Mitch Crane. I think there are many many more who would go for someone who supports their interests ahead of someone who has become one of Washington’s biggest corporate whores.
Hmmm, methinks there might be a “Case For Challenging Carper” screed from the Masked Infidel. Coming soon…
Let me give you the line you can use in 2013 now, so you can practice it: “At least we got that DINO Carper out of office, he was no different than Senator Phillips anyway.”
El Som – The problem with that idea, as good as it sounds, is that there’s no one with sufficient name recognition who could (a) run on that platform, (b) beat Carper, and (c) then carry the torch against a well-funded Republican in November.
If Carper goes down, the GOP is smelling blood. They will pour a shitload of money into the race to install Senator Phillips or Senator Copeland or Senator Wade. And they will win.
First, you need a candidate. Aside from Karen Peterson and John Kowalko, who always seem to be talked about for higher office but are never interested, who do you POSSIBLY see that could pull this off?
There is no one in the field with Carper’s stature, name recognition or money who could replace him on the ballot. The exceptions would be Markell, who’s running for re-election, and Beau, who sure isn’t going to be challenging an incumbent senator. While Denn has the stature (hold the jokes, please), he doesn’t have the money. And again, he’s not going to challenge an incumbent.
The bulk of the Democratic establishment in Delaware is moderate mainstream, the old guard, not the firebreathers. There are simply not enough grassroots progressives in this state who have energy and passion to devote to a new candidate. In 2012, they’ll be helping Markell, Crane, Deaver and Staton win. There will be very few people left. But the tea partiers will be pouring all their energy into this one race.
Sorry, but you’re dreaming. Better the devel we ken than the devil we don’t.
“You sweep out Carper in favor of someone with less name recog, and you end up with Senator Wade or Senator Copeland. Di we learn nothing from Mike Castle?”
Yes, let’s look at that race, shall we? The Democrats ran Chris Coons, who was virtually unknown downstate and did not have a great record to run on upstate — sure, his stewardship of the county was responsible, but it made him easy to skewer as “The Taxman.” And he romped to victory.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think any other Democrat could beat Carper. But if one did, it would not be the disaster anon and friends are predicting, particularly if the Republican is a downstate wingnut. This is, was, and probably will be (until my expiration date, at least) a centrist state. You will never see a Senator Phillips.
Geezer – You entirely miss my point.
We have Senator Chris Coons because the Republicans kicked out Mike Castle.
If the Democrats kick out Tom Carper, we will get Senator [GOP Undetermined].
Uh, anon, Castle was an R hanging on in a D state. Carper is an R masquerading as a D. In a state with a huge D pluarality.
The argument that is no one with the name recognition, $$’s, etc., to challenge Carper belies the idea that (a) maybe there is; (b) once a viable alternative emerges, the internets have made raising money much easier; (c) an intelligent and dedicated messenger can turn Carper’s perceived advantages into disadvantages; and (d) I think we’re really in a new era where status quo is unacceptable to more and more people, and I’m not referring to progressives.
I think there has been a fundamental sea change in how people feel about their future and their current condition, and they see what’s going on in Washington as unacceptable.
I don’t understand this rush to dismiss a challenge to Carper as out of hand…unless it’s coming from Ed Freel’s sock puppets.
Ed Freel has no Sock puppets!!!! he IS an f’n Sock Puppet:) Crapper will hang on because nobody has the balls to go after him, period. The Ass Monkeys on here would rather whine about the IC and repeat charges of graft and corruption for which there is ZERO evidence. Your new and not improved IC candidate quit his job because protecting the consumer was “too hard” for him. Now the Keystone state product is crying that he is the consumers best friend, Really?
The Governor and the legislature both forecefully endorsed the Highmark Deal the only dissenter was Beau Boy the “fortunate son” But of course its all the IC’s fault.
Markell is almost a right wing R and Crapper is a damn R and all that anybody does here is focus on the IC……. 2012 Same Old Shit!
Anon: You miss my point: Your analogy is flawed because you’re starting from incorrect assumptions. My point is that Delaware will vote for the more centrist candidate in any general election. I think a liberal Democrat is closer to the center than a downstate conservative Republican; in such a race, the lack of name recognition on either side would be a wash. So, sorry, I disagree — I think even a relatively unknown Democrat would win such a contest.
And, that said, the point is moot, because such a Democrat would not defeat Carper in a primary.
I encouraged Pete Schwartzkopf to seek the Senate nomination last time, in order to boost his statewide name recognition for a future run for Governor. He could have been Senator Schwartzkopf now…
Ah, the KWS fans chime in, with a post that can’t get a single thing straight.
First off, “all” of us don’t do anything here. You just can’t stand the criticism of any of us.
Some of us have pointed out that there is no evidence that KWS is corrupt, but there’s plenty of evidence that she’s incompetent. The BC/BS deal is evidence of that.
“Crapper will hang on because nobody has the balls to go after him, period.”
Bullshit. Period. Simply going after him would not oust him from office. Period. You’re full of shit on that one. Period.
“Your new and not improved IC candidate quit his job because protecting the consumer was “too hard” for him.”
Really? You have inside information on that, or did KWS tell you that after you were done kissing her ass? And why should I shy away from voting for someone from Pa. when your incompetent hero just shipped the state’s largest insurance company to Pa.?
“The Governor and the legislature both forecefully endorsed the Highmark Deal the only dissenter was Beau Boy the “fortunate son”
I don’t like Beau as a politician, but he was the only one in this deal who was looking out for Delaware consumers as opposed to Delaware businesses. And plenty of people have pointed out the complicity of the GA and Gov. It doesn’t get her off the hook; she is just as guilty, and in fact more so, because she’s supposed to be the expert. I have known her for years, and she’s so ineffective I”m surprised she doesn’t have to hire someone to wipe her ass for her.
“all that anybody does here is focus on the IC……. 2012”
There was a total of one (1) comment about her, other than yours. Your math skills are as lousy as Karen Weldin Stewart’s.
“I encouraged Pete Schwartzkopf to seek the Senate nomination last time, in order to boost his statewide name recognition for a future run for Governor.”
One would hope you’re kidding. The governor-in-waiting is Matt Denn. His second term will be over in 2024.
My understanding is that Mitch Crane left the IC’s office because KWS wouldn’t clean up her act and stop using the office as an employment agency for her unqualified cronies and because of her total incompetence with our money.
As of 2/11 the Captive office was still in the red, but they were still footing the bill for an out of state buddy of KWS’s who shows up once a month. She sucks as an IC. She deserves to go.
Carper on the other hand is a different story. You may not like where he gets his money (just like the tea baggers didn’t like where Castle got his), but you’d be taking the same, huge chance in a general.
Don’t forget, the Republicans could beat the odds and run someone normal, someone who doesn’t think that you’re a Nazi if you believe in separation of church and state and who didn’t make up their resume while they were chugging Buds, crying they were a virgin and wearing a lady bug suit.
It could happen.
Looks likes KWS’s troll is back, spreading his hate for both Matt Denn and Mitch Crane.
maybe there is
Again, El Som: Who?
Kowalko? Peterson? They dance the little dance every time, enjoying the attention as the liberal darlings, and then chicken out. Flaherty? If he wanted to run for something, he’d have done so by now. Pete? Not going to happen.
Who, then, do you see as the progressive hero arising out of nowhere? All this is totally academic until we have a name.
I think a liberal Democrat is closer to the center than a downstate conservative Republican; in such a race, the lack of name recognition on either side would be a wash.
You’re forgetting the political dynamics that are likely to unfold in 2012. Obama is going to be the Tea Party target. They’re going to be out in force for Bachmann or Palin or Paul or Perry or whomever. In Delaware, they’ll have O’Donnell (or Phillips, or Copeland, or Wade) and Urquhart to rally around. That’s serious political energy. And energy – not numbers – is what toppled Mike Castle. His supporters weren’t excited. O’Donnell’s were.
Democrats are going to be playing defense, which translates into a much weaker position, less energy, less money. The timing is ripe for a conservative to pull a surprise victory and snatch a high-profile seat away, Delaware’s “moderate” politics be damned.
If Carper gets the boot in the primary, then the Republicans will win the seat.
Anon, do you seriously believe that if Carper lost a primary (as unlikely as that seems) that O’Donnell could win the general election against the Dem? She is such damaged and laughable goods, here is a Dem that can beat her in the general: . That’s right. You can insert just about anyone’s name.
Carper is not losing a primary. That said, if he did anon has a point. Can you imagine the wingnut money that would flow into a O’Donnell, Phillips, Copeland, or (snicker) Wade campaign if Carper lost? It would be epic. O’Donnell would be set for two lifetimes.
Here is a hypothetical for DE dems. It’s an improbable scenario, if Beau Biden primaried Tom Carper, who would you vote for? Biden or Carper?
It is an interesting, if purely academic, question. I’d happily vote for Biden. Primarying Carper would be an affront to the “Delaware Way” that I’d like to endorse.
Jason, I doubt national dems would sit idly by and let a winnable seat in a blue state like DE go unfinanced and conceded to a tea party candidate like O’Donnell.
I actually think that the most vulnerable Democrat in the General would be KWS if she is able to win the Primary. That’s just one reason why it is so important for Mitch to defeat her.
I’m not saying it will be O’Donnell at all, in fact I think O’Donnell will spend 2012 rolling in her PAC money and whining about “RINOS” and the “liberal media”. It could be any one of a large assortment of right wing crazies, but if it’s someone normal, and if someone significantly to the left of Carper wins the primary, you could be flushing a perfectly good Senate seat down the toilet.
UcantBeFnserious : Your comment, “The Ass Monkeys on here would rather whine about the IC and repeat charges of graft and corruption for which there is ZERO evidence.” Where should one begin to point to the evidence of corruption created by Karen Weldin Stewart.
One example: Check out this illegal sleazy move by Karen Weldin Stewart. A $10,000 illegal campaign loan made to Karen Weldin Stewart from her then boyfriend Daniel Harkins. Loans to a statewide campaign candidate by an individual cannot exceed $1,200.
As the loan was made on 12/18/2008 just weeks after she won the general election and her boyfriend did not give her the money – he gave it to KWS’s campaign, one could reasonably assume he expected to be paid back.
http://cfis.elections.delaware.gov/COE/cfishome.nsf/vwElectionData/STEWARTK!-08-CAN-YRE-YREND.pdf/$File/STEWARTK!-08-CAN-YRE-YREND.pdf?openelement
As if that wasn’t bad enough, KWS does not pay back her boyfriend, her boyfriend dies, and Karen Weldin Stewart pays herself back over $7,300 using the $10,000 illegal loan money from her dead boyfriend.
The sleazy moves pile up, fast forward to the 2010 campaign finance report and we find Karen Weldin Stewart not only did not pay back her boyfriend for the illegal loan she took – she stiffed his Estate too. See the illegal $10,000 as an outstanding loan to The Estate of Daniel F. Farley III, still unpaid.
The original crime was accepting the loan in the first place – as a seasoned serial candidate and long-time political participant, Karen Weldin Stewart would have known the $10,000 loan was illegal when she accepted the loan.

Hey Ass Monkey! All your BS is 3 plus years old. Why don’t you call the Fortunate Son? Or maybe you could call Charlie O? Or maybe you could STFU!
KWS doubled the number of companies in the Captive Bureau and was still losing money as of the beginning of this year. She spent the past 2 1/2 years spending it faster than she was making it. She spent it on high paying cushy jobs for her inner circle of cronies, and travel.
GO MITCH!
@UcantBeFnserious — And how easy is it to be an even bigger ass monkey when you have to resort to sockpuppetry.
Pick a name and stick with it.
I second that, Cass. But we all know what a failure UCBFS is.
If I were KWS (god forbid) I wouldn’t want UcantBeFnserious defending me. “your Bs is three plus years old” is beyond pathetic. I just checked her latest filing 2010 year end, She still shows the unpaid illegal loan and its $7300 disbursement to herself. Let me see if I can understand this. 6 weeks after she won the election her campaign borrows $10,000 ($7800 over the campaign limit) and sticks $ 7300 in pocket aned still hasn’t paid the loan back. Is the Dept of elections asleep at the switch. If Paul Clark or Christine Odonnell did this they’d take them away in cuffs
sysyphus – You get the seriousness of this white collar crime. However, a math correction, Karen Weldin Stewart borrowed $8,800, not $7,800 over the campaign finance limit. The loan limit allowed by law to lend to a campaign is $1,200 and apparently KWS does not intend to pay back the illegal loan.
Karen Weldin Stewart knew the campaign finace rules and intentionaly violated them. She did it when she thought no one was looking – after the election, pocketing over $7,300 for herself.
I wonder how many shopping sprees $7,300 can finance?
KWS is a hack, but most of our insurance commissioners have been hacks. Matt Denn might be an exception, but I fortunately had no experience w/ the IC’s office during Denn’s tenure.
I do know that no one from the IC’s office would talk to me or my GF in the early ’90s when she was injured in an auto accident & had the BALLS to retain a PI lawyer. The driver who hit her had a driving record as long as my arm, yet her own ins. co. (gotta love that no-fault bullshit) NEVER paid her lost wages w/o a letter from her P.I. lawyer.
I called the IC’s office when her first reimbursement check was late. The person who answered the phone immediately asked me if my GF had retained a lawyer. I responded in the affirmative & was immediately told that her attorney was responsible to hold the ins. company’s feet to the fire. What a bunch of shit!
Why should anyone have to hire an attorney to enforce the law?
KWS is the ultimate in Delaware Way politicians. Unqualified, stupid & possibly corrupt. I’m surprised she hasn’t been elected Governor!
“the Republicans could beat the odds and run someone normal, someone who doesn’t think that you’re a Nazi if you believe in separation of church and state and who didn’t make up their resume while they were chugging Buds, crying they were a virgin and wearing a lady bug suit.
It could happen.”
No, it can’t, because there is no such Republican in Delaware.
Good morning MJ and assorted Ass Monkeys:)! Matt Denn $8200 Free beer and wine, Fotunate son $9600 All an same day from the beer meister! KWS ZERO!!!!!! Save your money for a ticket to her innaguration party:)….. I think the Short One and the Fortunate Son are mildly comprimised…..Oh and Republican Jack gave 15 G’s to “Selected non profits”…. that a lot of beer!
The guy giving the money broke the law, not the campaigns that were duped into taking the money. I guess if it doesn’t have legs, it will not be for the Republicans lack of trying.
Dream on…. the Fortunate son took $9600 in ONE F’n Day! the old man’s been running for office for 35 years. The boy just happened to be running scared at the time. The beer meister was spreading cash like it was lawn fertilizer…… yea the takers wer3 “duped” BULLSHIT! At least John Atkins had the balls to admot he went to the T&A show:)
That’s what elections are for. As I said, it will not be an issue that Republicans fail take up.
@Ucantbefnserious
Hey fatass KWS troll, save your breath. You’re not fooling anyone. You’re fighting like hell to save your cash cow because you’re just as worthless and corrupt as she is. Ripping off the public is the only way you two scumbags ever got any money in your pockets and you’ve both taken way too much of it over the past 2-1/2 years. It’s time for a clean sweep. Let’s hope the two of you and all your dirty cronies end up behind bars where you belong. That would be poetic justice.
One thing is for sure: KWS won’t have any more obscenely expensive inauguration parties that her backers illegally paid for. You can take that to the bank, too.
Hey dumbass Paul!!! the GOV,LT.GOV, AG all D’s are concretely implicated in the beer meister mess. NOT the IC or Treas:) Have a nice day!
Fatass — You really are pathetic. You can’t defend yourself or your idiotic thieving hack IC, so you attack others. But it won’t get you anywhere. And thanks for the good wishes. All our days will be a lot nicer after the corrupt pack of you are out of our DOI.
In what way does the corruption of other office-holders make Karen Weldin Stewart a better insurance commissioner? You can insult all the people you want. It won’t make Karen any smarter or any better at her job.
I can’t believe that this political moron refers to anyone as a dumbass. KWS is a flawed candidate facing a very difficult primary and this genius thinks her best defense for her inherent personal shortcomings, poor record and obvious campaign expenditure law violation is to attack the most popular elected officials in the dem. party inlcluding the vp of the US. Also genius, with the way she has run her office and her campaigns, it’s not very bright to poke sticks in the cage of the Attorney General and the US Attorney
Karen Weldin Stewart started before her 2000 campaign and continued through the 2004 and 2008 ones to illegally use campaign funds as living expenses because she never had a job. So this went on for about ten years. The authorities will have a field day when they get a hold of all the records. If Stewart weren’t a Democrat and McDowell hadn’t done his utmost to protect her, she’d have been prosecuted a long time ago. What she’s done with campaign and department money is way worse than the groundless accusations that were thrown at O’Donnell, yet she’s still in office. It pays to be a Democrat when you run for and hold office in our state, but it pays even better when you abuse it. It’s the “Delaware Way”.
I warned you all about KWS long before the ’08 primary but was dismissed as a crank. Now you know I was right. Glad to be vindicated but sorry this woman got away with her fraud scheme. At least so far.

I believe I had Matt Denn winning a Senate seat along the way…
Don’t worry Paul. By next year when Karen Weldin Stewart and Elliott Jacobson get swept out of office, they’ll be wallowing in money. Between the cash they’re taking in from working over the insurance industry and selling out the consumers added to the behind the scenes moeny making schemes they are engaged in with Harris McDowell in preparation for their retirements, we’re talking big bucks.
It is just plain scary to envision these crooks being offered another four years fleesing the public trust and making a bigger haul.
@anon:
They’re already wallowing in money, millions for both Stewart and Elliott Jacobson. Elliott knows getting back in is iffy. That’s why he’s even more obnoxious than usual in the office and drops his crap on all the blogs.
Stewart lucked out with her election after two failed attempts in 2000 and 2004. She never worked but always had men to support her. That’s her only skill. Then she got old and decrepit and her childish approach wasn’t cute any more. By 2008 she was so broke she would have been out in the street if she hadn’t been elected by a fluke. McDowell knew that made her an easy tool. She’s been taking big kickbacks from vendors and her crony consultants from day one. That’s why she spent millions on vendors immediately after she was sworn in to the point DOI accounts payable started asking questions. Insurance industry insiders know you have to pay the idiot her pound of flesh or you don’t even get in the front door. You need to show up with a goodie bag for KWS. No doubt those are now all in Swiss accounts, minus Jacobson’s share of course.
There was never a worse IC in Delaware history (well maybe old boyfriend David Levinson who taught her everything she knows) and surely never a high school dropout. She needs to go, and go now.
Didn’t we elect a high school dropout Governor?
” Insurance industry insiders know you have to pay the idiot her pound of flesh or you don’t even get in the front door. …No doubt those are now all in Swiss accounts, minus Jacobson’s share of course.”
That is one step too far. Not because I think that is is unfair – it is just kinda crazy.
UCBFS – does Discover still print checks?
Jason – sometimes things can be true and sound “just kinda crazy”.
It would be interesting to confirm that Karen Weldin Stewart expects pay for play. I expect to find out soon that that is the case – one thing is certain, Insurance Industry insiders and DOI employees are making similar statements about KWS.
It would be interesting to confirm that Karen Weldin Stewart expects pay for play.
This *would* be interesting.
However, for as long as she’s been in office, there have been a steady drumbeat of folks anonymously claiming all kinds of financial misdeeds and surprisingly not one bit of evidence comes out of all of this anonymous activity. If you guys had the goods, it would have been out already. But you don’t. So until you do, you should STFU. Because you just look like drooling conspiracy theorists at this point.
Cassandra, I understand your point. But if the issue is not raised the corruption goes unchecked.
In the case of KWS, there are a number of people, like in the Tigani story in the News Journal today, that are willing to speak at length off the record about KWS’s activities and have evidence to back it up. However, they are afraid of possibly losing their job or losing favor with the DOI if they speak openly. The possible negative consequences for innocent people and not so innocent people can contribute to hiding the corruption.
Although, times are changing and a few appear ready to speak out and provide the evidence to support the claims made.
Why would they be more willing to speak out now – than before? They’re afraid of being accused of taking part and/or covering for Karen Weldin Stewart’s shady activities. Furthermore, do you really beleive KWS would stand up and take the blame due her or the more likely scenerio of blaming everyone else for her wrongdoing.
Strange that Nancy Willing is missing from this thread and others like it. She was always johnny on the spot when it came to defending Karen Weldin Stewart with totally outlandish explanations and even crazier accusations against her detractors. Maybe she’s finally seen the light. It’s possible although not likely since she probably has nothing to lose from abandoning this corrupt insurance commissioner. At least that’s what it looks like.
Wow, a few hours of chasing the little white ball and we miss sooo much! As I trundled around the links at WCC I was reminded of a prominent guy of Italian descent that got the boot. I am guessing that might happen again soon , and there may be more, the blue bloods being such purists and all. How do you make beer meister soup? 2 Govs., 1 lt. Gov. , I AG mixed with a Large St. Sen and a lady St. Sen. with a dash of daughter, Stir well and apply HEAT, No Insurance necessary. Cheers:)
No one doubts that it is difficult to come forward. As we have said over and over and over again.
The thing is that there *are* ways to get the right clues at least out to people who will follow up that minimize your fingerprints. It is a question of motivation and having something to actually pass on. Both tests the conspiracy theorists have rather spectacularly failed on.
MMMMM….. If one is to take a shot across the bow, aiming at the correct boat is key to the exercise. Some get it right once in a “Blue Moon” but generally the “Zebra” does not change its stripes. I might suggest that one put their “Poodle” on their “Pink Pony” and go on back to “La La Land” and live the life of a Nomad:), otherwise they might be thought of as a “Renegade”!
If you’re going to call me a faggot, UCBFS, have the balls to do it instead of using your cheap excuse for innuendo. And if you knew anything, you’d know that La La Land closed over 3 years ago and was not gay-owned. And the owners of the Renegade sold their property over 8 years ago and it’s now townhomes.
You’re a loser who is lucky he’s not in prison for fraud.
Paul, ol’ buddy ol’ pal, you’re hurting yourself more than you are KWS. If you have actual knowledge of kickbacks and KWS/Jacobson taking millions, then call the Delaware State Police. But you clearly don’t, or you would have. Airing rumors does NOTHING for your cause.
Other anon, if this stuff is happening, people need to come forward. If they have proof, they can easily get the documents to the papers and the police even without their names attached. Here’s how to be an anonymous whistleblower:
1. Purchase a small digital camera, pocket- or purse-sized. Bring it in to the office.
2. Take pictures of the incriminating documents that back up your allegations of kickbacks and theft.
3. Go to an Internet cafe and pay cash. Create an anonymous, one-time-only email account. Upload the photos. Write out any details that can help explain them.
4. Email the photos and details to the DSP, AG, TNJ and DL.
This is pretty humorous. UCBFS wants to defend KWS, but manages to turn a thread that had barely mentioned her into one that vilifies her yet again. Good work, fella. With friends like you, Karen doesn’t need enemies.
Anon, that’s real good advice but #2 is totally impractial if not impossible. KWS is an uneducated moron but she has street smarts and also her expert in coverups, lies, and subterfuge, the fatass troll UCBFS who’d never allow incriminating documents to just sit out. If they even exist which I doubt. Anyone with half a brain or a tiny fraction of one like KWS, would never commit criminal activity to paper or a computer. Plus she has locking cabinets if she keeps anything in the office, which I also doubt. Duh….
Anon, thanks for the advice. There are documents at the DOI that support illegal activity by Karen Weldin Stewart and Elliott Jacobson, however, even bringing out the documents as you suggest will expose the people who have access to them. Though again, as I said, things are changing.
And Paul you are correct about some things as well, many documents were destroyed or removed from the DOI to Jacobson’s personal residence. After the Caesar Rodney Report expose, Stewart and Jacobson changed up how they operated, didn’t halt their schemes – just operated differently.
Most e-mails are now sent from their personal e-mails to avoid FOIA and fraudulent reasons are provided when paperwork is required to get around the law and rules. Other activity is done verbally, on the phone or in person to avoid a paper trail, deals cemented with a handshake, a wink and a nod. With Jacobson, the meetings always involve eating and take place out of the office.
Another example of illegal activity – Outside counsel was hired to get around the AG and to circumvent the Deputy AG in the DOI; to the tune of $10,000 and another $30,000 that are in documents with the Controller using fraudulent reasons for their hire.
Looks like the relatively new DOI Controller is in cahoots with KWS and Jacobson. They weren’t able to corrupt the prior one who quit at the same time the Caesar Rodney expose was published in late March 2010. The reason KWS gave in her post-hearing interview with Jason330 was that he was looking for greener pastures to maximinze his pre-retirement income and thus his state pension. I’m sure he’d be able to shed some light on things if anyone were to ask him.
Paul – what does this mean? “The reason KWS gave in her post-hearing interview with Jason330 was that he was looking for greener pastures to maximinze his pre-retirement income and thus his state pension. I’m sure he’d be able to shed some light on things if anyone were to ask him.”
If someone can find an instance of Jason330 interviewing KWS, I’d be eager to see it. Also – if some money has been deposited in some account somewhere as a result of some non-existent interview, I’d be really eager to see that. Also – if someone can hook me up with a state pension in view of the fact that I’ve never worked for the state, I’d be much obliged.
If there is another Jason330 running around someone please tell him that I want my cut of the ill-gotten booty.
@Jason330
Sorry Jason….totally my error. It was Liberalgeek and his interview, not you.
@anon
The prior controller is said to have quit for about the same reasons Mitch Crane did. KWS’s excuse for his resignation that coincided with CRI’s investigation and report holds about as much water as her allegation that Mitch resigned for “health reasons”, which Mitch immediately denied. With the controller having been an insider who isn’t bound by any confidentiality rules like her deputy AGs, he might talk about why he really quit if someone were to ask. Liberalgeek – care to do an encore?
Paul, Your observation is no less absurd if you swap names. You are in Pelican brief territory my man. Black helicopters, swiss bank accounts, cut brake lines, pianos falling from great heights.
Paul – The former Controller was an ethical guy. He was having many problems with the way Karen Weldin Stewart and Elliott Jacobson were operating and he said so. He got alot of grief from them about doing his job ethically and responsibly.
The CRI Report was the last straw for him. When it was clear KWS and EJ were not going to change their ways – he made a change and took a job elsewhere. He knew when KWS abd EJ were finally caught, they would blame him, and as Controller, he would be on the hook for their wrongdoing.
Thanks anon. I never intended to imply that the former Controller wasn’t honest, on the contrary. The word “insider” was a poor choice. All it meant was that he’s inside the DOI, and certainly NOT the KWS inner circle. And just as I suspected, his reasons for quitting the department aren’t even close to what KWS said they were. What I meant when I suggested an interview with him is that he’d be in a unique position to expose the corrupt KWS-Jacobson-KWS cronies cabal. I hope he’ll step up to the plate but wonder why he hasn’t come forward to date.
The IC race should be very interesting to watch, as this thread suggests. It is the only competitive statewide race we will see in 2012. The other incumbent Democrats will face no primary opposition and crush their token Republican opponents. My prediction: Crane 53, Stewart 47.

oh dear Lord above NO!!!
1. you may be violating confidentiality laws and get jammed up yourself if you do this. remember, copying documents may make them inadmissible in court or a warrent to search may be denied due to the unlawful way in which the documents were obtained. as far as a recording – Delaware is a one party consent state – but know your wire-tapping laws too!
2. dont go to an internet cafe with a camera in it or any cameras in the vicinity. the email you send can be traced via the ISP to the cafe as far as date and time created and where created. sparking a search for the who, when where, how. people remember other people and cameras on/outside other building can pick up collateral information – like your face leaving the internet cafe you were so sure was anonymous
3. you want public corruption exposed? – DO NOT give it to the in state authorities to investigate EVER – GO TO THE FEDS! directly – FBI is always looking for public corruption cases. and go to DC/Baltimore to do it.
4 as a matter of fact – dont send an email at all – create an internet email account but never send the email – use it as a blind drop – a physical blind drop is better – always change the location of it – dont use the same one twice, dont call on a cell either…yada yada – go old school and low tech.
remember, all these electronic methods are traceable and leave footprints in the snow.
now, I gotta take off my mask and trench coat, and take a shower.
good luck
The Wilmington FBI office was involved at one time and someone stopped them. Who could that have been? Someone powerful who had something to hide, like his own involvement, or someone who wanted to protect another guilty party who’s more important than those two fatasses KWS and Jacobson? Maybe her old mentor Harris McDowell?
Looks like KWS and Jacobson really packed on the lard with all those free meals since the beginning of the year. With at least 50 extra pounds on KWS she’s now unrecognizable when compared with the 20 yr. old glamour shot she has Jacobson put up everywhere. We might have to be satisfied with her not getting reelected rather than her and the whole corrupt lot of cronies getting kicked out of office. It would be a relief and better than nothing. I’d hate to see them get away with all those stolen millions, though. Where’s the justice in that when a guy who knocks over a 7-11 for a couple of hundred bucks goes to prison for 10 years.
Paul, et al –
You guys are just hurting yourselves.
If you have PROOF – not rumors, but PROOF – then leak it. Post it. Send it to CRI. Do whatever.
But since all you have are rumors and questions and innuendo and attacks on someone’s appearance –
Please Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
But since all you have are rumors and questions and innuendo and attacks on someone’s appearance –
Please Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
They’ll prob. STFU when rumors, questions, innuendo and attacks on personal appearance STOP influencing voters.
“The Wilmington FBI office was involved at one time and someone stopped them”
My point exactly!! TAKE IT OUT OF STATE!
Wow, now the IC has power to STOP the FBI, amazing. Now, she did have VIP tix to the innaguration perhaps she used that Delaware access to get B.O. to fix evrything?? Maybe since she is clearly at her regular weight she took the money and bought Jenny Craig! Or maybe Paul, you are just a delusional crack head!! Oops i did not mean to diss crack heads:)
Looks like the two people benefiting the most from keeping Karen Weldin Stewart in office are coming to her rescue – protecting their cash cow.
It’s hard to operate in the corrupt manner you’re used to when there is a spotlight shining on you. How much easier it is to operate in the dark. Telling people to STFU will not coverup what is ready to be exposed.
@UCBFS–
The IC doesn’t have any power over the FBI. The VP might, though. They’re both Delaware Democrats, which is not a crime, but it STINKS to high heaven.
As to KWS’ weight–I’ve never seen the woman in person, so I can’t comment & I really don’t give a shit.
Have a nice day.
“The Wilmington FBI office was involved at one time and someone stopped them”
You are all so parochial. It came from higher up. Think bigger, people. This actually _is_ corruption on a grand scale and a cover-up that has very long tentacles.
You fools know nothing and say so much. FYI there is going to be a couple of bombshells this fall with a couple of GOP former officials. The party pinata has the GOP by the balls.
The entire party will be upside down that combined with COD’s book. As for Copeland running you can’t be serious.
Corrupt Karen Weldin Stewart and Elliott Jacobson should not have poked the bear.
@Corrupt and Stupid:
You picked a fitting sockpuppet name for you and your idiot boss. There you go again trying to divert attention from your thieving selves by attacking others because there’s nothing else you can do. We know all about you because we’re smarter than both of you and all your dirty cronies put together. You’ll all be outed about the same time you say that GOP scenario is going to play out. What a disgusting bunch of useless parasites you are.
I think you are confused about who “Corrupt and Stupid” is…
WTF?
Is every one here an idiot? KWS? Duh?
The culprit to be busted is a former NCC chair and it will lead to a former party chair and eventually to the new leadership.
Can’t wait.
So many votes for Mitch Crane! Its going to be an avalanche, the most lopsided primary in state history.
We should see if there are an interesting anagrams of “Mike Protack” that he could use for his sock puppetry.
Pockmark Tie
perfect.
A Kick Me Port
If you use “Michael Protack,” you get a treasure trove:
Achromatic Kelp
Chickpea Mortal
Complicate Hark
Cocktail Hamper
Artichoke Clamp
Metaphoric Lack
Catlike Camphor
Camera Thick Pol
Tarmac Pick Hole
Alpha Cock Timer
Hey J Cass you are not a dumb ass. Because no self respecting dumb ass is as stupid as you:) the wannabe won’t even get out of the starting gate. The guy has a record as an employee that will become fair game. He quit because the job was toooo hard…. Wah Wah…. now he wants to run the place? Really? He has a base of part of ONE RD…Gimme an F’n break.
Yeah. I’m the of the off the rack asshole to be sure, but ask yourself one question: Who was hired by now Lt.Gov then IC Matt Denn?
And even if you aren’t skippertee, I’m going to knock him on his ass because of you.
Yea the POS was hired by the short one and the alleged competence of the short one as IC is about to take a major hit:). Why don’t you crawl over and ask get hooked up by one of the FDNY guest bartenders at the Starboard? I hear the blood in you’re alcohol is geting too high. Be careful crawling home:)
Its not a far crawl, I’ll be alright. But you, on the other hand, are beginning to piss me off. That’s never been healthy for anyone.
Wel bully boy, it’s better to be pissed off than pissed on. You know, you might need an umbrella:).
I’m geared for wetwork.
@ Joe Cass- You ain’t knocking me on my ass!
I don’t know where you’re even coming from!
But, they can take me away in handcuffs the next time we meet if THAT’S on the agenda.
I don’t give a FUCK!
@ UcantbeFnserious or skippertee or fatass or whatever:
You really are a serious piece of vulgar white trash shit. Your prissy moron boss got her perfect partner in crime when you showed up. Which is what her insurance lawyer puppetmasters had in mind when they brought you from DC so you two pathetic losers could rip off Delawareans. Like Cassandra said, you’re damn lucky you’re not in prison for fraud. Not yet.
JGH…… How do you know I’m white???…. can’t fact check your post…. No facts! 🙂
Tickets available now for the 10 round bout between JoeCass and Skippertee to be held on Poodle Beach:)
Gentlemen and /or Ladies – of whatever ilk
some trolls just ought to be ignored – they have earned that right – they r not worth our time and are WAY beneath any accordance of notice or respect
we have dealt with this before – we can do so again…
@Joe and Skipper…….. 🙂 at least you have a common enemy – concentrate on that fool
@cantbeFnserious: It appears according to your ealier post that bad news is going to come out about Karen Weldin Stewart and she is going to point the finger at Matt Denn – how typical of KWS – blame everyone else for her mistakes.
Stewart gives her henchmen cushy jobs with huge salaries and they don’t show up for work because they live hundreds of miles away. She racks up more travel time than the Governor with an equal sized entourage, and she has no concept of open government.
Every department in the state has clamped down on travel, spending and hiring, except the IC’s office. The excuse she uses is that they generate revenue, but the Captive Bureau, which has doubled its number of clients, has been running in the red because of her spending. The more the IC’s office makes, the more she spends.
Someone needs to FOIA the outside contractors she has working in the office through several different employment agencies and what they are paying the agencies that provide this much needed service for her best buddies. It would also be interesting to see a 5 year spending chart for the office, did Matt Denn spend as much as KWS?
The IC’s office is a fiasco, that is something that R’s, D’s and U’s in Delaware can all agree on. If KWS makes it through a primary, the tea party will savage her in the general, they may even go as far as using recent pictures of her.
Call me crazy but “henchmen” are usually close by so they can “hench”. The captive bureau is way up but in business start up costs are to be expected. Get a clue the IC office IS a business, Captive is going to pay off BIG!!!! Now Del Gov 101: Not one F’n DIME of tax revenue funds the IC office. In fact the Governor took money OUT of the IC accounts to pay state bills.
As to the short one, figures don’t lie but liars can figure so let the chps fall where they may:). I daresay that the IC looks better than you, asshole.
