Markell’s Trip to Chile Bears Some Fruit
Even I think that title’s horrible. Yes, I groaned while typing it. But, via Twitter, Governor Markell reports:
More details when they are available.

Yes, this is very good for Delaware, the Port and the Longshoremen who service the ships.
HIP-HIP-HURRRAY!
[I didn’t think the pun was that bad DD]
I think this is an extension of an existing agreement. Still a good thing though.
Probably, still good news.
Can we pack a few cases of Chilean cabernet and maybe some Malbec from Argentina on that boat?
It would be better news if we got to export something to Chile, you know, creating more jobs than the service related ones to offload and deliver what they send us.
This is like celebrating Kia sending their cars here from South Korea.
True enough. Can we export teabagging sussex countians? It is a cottage industry.
I must say, despite the few times where I have been upset with this Governor for being more conservative on some issues than where I think our state should be, he has been incredibly effective and his first term has been a clear success.
I have criticized this Governor before, but despite the few times where I have been upset with his administration for not being progressive enough, he has been incredibly effective and his first term has been a clear success. While i still believe that the strategic fund should have been used at the beginning of his tenure as a sort of state-stimulus, I think taking concrete steps to grow Delaware’s economy is his highest amongst other important accomplishments, such as signing the civil unions and gun bills.
Milton Friedman and the Chicago Business School plutocrats used Chile as their pilot program for privatizing everything. If you watch Democracynow.org, you will see the students in the streets because they cant afford the high price of education. Friedman is a disaster capitalist along with Greenspan, Paulson and Bernacke. I hope ole Jack doesnt pick up any “Chile style” privatization for Delaware. If Jack can do the deal for more “fruit” we should applaud.
