Weekend Open Thread – Kovach Confirmed Carney Challenge at Colley’s Racist Gathering (?)
From DP comments:
“34DonAyotte
DJ #22
Kovach confirmed that he was running for the US House when he attended the Bull Roast. He’s a good pick and could win.”
>>>>>>
Take that with a metric ton of salt. Ayotte is the least reliable in DP’s stable of veracity challenged morons. Also, this would not be a special election, so it appears to be outside of Kovach’s wheelhouse.
However, if Kovach did use the racist gathering to get the word out about his campaign, I’d be curious to know if Kovach knew about Colley’s on the record comments about the President of the United States’ mother.
If control of the House is not an issue I’d be OK with seeing Carney lose. Not that he would lose, but riding out a term or two with a shaky Republican would overturn the chess board and would be better than cementing Carney’s Blue Dog ass to the chair for another twenty-five years.
I have voted the straight Democratic ticket my whole life. But recent statements and votes from Democrats, including our own Carney/Coons/Carper, have blurred the distinction between the parties, and have made me feel a strange sense of anger and discomfort. I think this feeling must be what they call “anti-incumbency.” I didn’t think it would ever happen to me. I guess I’ll go lie down and see if it goes away. Surely tomorrow Democrats will come to their senses.
Kovach attended Hatefest? Pity. He seemed almost normal for a while.
EUREKA!!! I have found it!! the quinessential problem with the T-Baggers..
“I put much more weight in the writings of Madison on the subject, than I do on court decisions.” Don Ayotte
so some one who has an under-graduate degree, never attended law school, didn’t study Consitutional Law either, know knows more that 250 years of intelligent, wise people, chosen by the leaders of our country to interpret and guide us.
WOW!WOW!
I would love to have the crystal ball these folks have – Court decisions have been steadily built up over the years, each one based on the decisions of the ones before, whether the decision was upheld or over-turned. The trust is not only in the decisions but in the opinions of the justices, each one writing the WHY of the decision.
Alexander Hamilton asserted in Federalist No. 78 :
“[T]he courts were designed to be an intermediate body between the people and the legislature, in order, among other things, to keep the latter within the limits assigned to their authority. The interpretation of the laws is the proper and peculiar province of the courts. A constitution is, in fact, and must be regarded by the judges as, a fundamental law. It, therefore, belongs to them to ascertain its meaning, as well as the meaning of any particular act proceeding from the legislative body.”
Judicial Review is a wonderful thing – Plz have them read Marbury and the English case law preceeding it
Aoine: Reading that conversation between Don and Frank on the First Amendment is like listening to monkeys discuss Shakespeare.
The infinite conservative theorem states that a conservative discussing the First Amendment at random for an infinite amount of time will almost surely result in a remedial understanding of what the First Amendment really means.
Re: Kovach
It’s time to find out how in line he is with the Sussexers. Does he hold their views about separation of church and state, abortion, gay rights, and Barack Obama’s mother “civilizing ” the “savage” Barack Obama Sr “in the sack”?
He was there kissing their asses at the Bull Roast, how far is he willing to go?
Re: Kovach
Why run for an office that, if you win, gives you the right to wrestle unions, developers and the 11 Democratic dwarfs?
Sounds like his plan is to aim high, gladhand some party funding sources and lay infrastructure for the future. If he loses, he goes back to private practice with lots more contacts than he had before. Worst-case scenario, he finds out the upstate Republican core is the only support he has. Either way, he looks like a dozen recent upstate Republicans before him: Unwilling to toil for years in the vineyards. If he’s not going to make wine right away, he’ll go back to the private sector, where the rewards are more tangible.
Plus he might always win.
@Geezer – OMG – ROTFLMAO – “Reading that conversation between Don and Frank on the First Amendment is like listening to monkeys discuss Shakespeare.”
Geezer takes the quote of the day!
of course, then there is Faye suggesting we invade Mexico! Coz they’re invading us! (3 Mexican Federales seen crossing a bridge – …BACK into Mexico)
They probably went to Wal-mart for the afternoon…….
Does anyone know if Kovach put out a statement on his attendance at the racist gathering?
Tom Kovach tweets about everything. Everything. And yet.. mysteriously.. no Tweets from this? None. Zip. Nada. No Facebook posts either. Almost like he’s embarassed he was there and trying to hide it or something?
I’d be embarassed too.
Funny thing is New Castle County ranks right up there with homosexuals and Moors and Beans in Colley’s mind. He’s written some great stuff about our county. any explination for that Tom? why would you be seen in public with such a person?
Every voter in New Castle County needs to know our twit county council president was at this thing.
Kovach has pictures on his Facebook page of Bike to the Bay, but no pictures from the Bull Roast, the two events were held on the same day, a few miles apart. Kovach posts pictures of himself at every event he attends, and Tweets from events, but he doesn’t mention the Bull Roast anywhere.
Was he there? Yes he was. Why didn’t he publicize it? Because he knew the event was an embarrassment to any thinking citizen of Delaware.
Hey Aoine, while you’re picking on Don Ayotte for apparently not being smart enough for you, it might interest you to know that the Supreme Court has not been around for 250 years. For that matter, the Declaration of Independence isn’t 250 years old either. So before you get even more snarky and look even more ridiculous, at least get your facts right.
As to a blog by Bill Colley, hello, who reads anything that guy writes??????? I think it’s pretty safe to say that 99% of the folks there had no idea that Colley had written that ridiculous posting.
But, while we’re trashing people by association, I’m just curious if this blog condemned Obama for not condemning Reverend Wright? Someone who’s church he sat in on a regular basis. And, of course, he spoke right after Jimmy Hoffa a couple of weeks ago, without condemning Hoffa’s remarks. The point being, of course, that simply being at the same event as someone doesn’t mean you condone their positions, especially obscure statements posted on an obscure blog that no one reads.
“I’m just curious if this blog condemned Obama for not condemning Reverend Wright?”
Why would anyone condemn Rev. Wright? For saying mean things about ‘Murka? You right-wingers really are a bunch of pants-wetters, aren’t you? Daddy! He said something mean about my country!
@Researcher – before you get you knickers in a knot why dont you show me WHERE I said the SUPREME COurt has been around for 250 years
I never did – I only referenced court decisions going back that far
the idea of judicial review actually come from England around 1610 that idea that courts could nullify statutes originated in England with Chief Justice Edward Coke’s 1610 opinion in Dr. Bonham’s Case, 8 Co. Rep. 107a
I think thats longer than 250 years ago…
I never made it narrow to the United States or SCOTUS – so take off your narrow blinders and open your mind
you know your mind is like a parachute – it ony works when its open – well oblivious your CYPRESS failed to fire…..
you have made yourself look ridiculous LOL
need a napkin to wipe the egg off your face?? – or would you just like to apologize, I’d like to see either but never will….change your moniker to Breitbart – It would fit your inability to see or acknowledge the facts better….
and for the record Don Ayotte is NOT smart enought for me. I sometimes feel guilty for doing battle with an unarmed man, but not for long….
face it – anyone who says, then stands by their statements that “Christine O’Donnell’s book is 15th on the NY Times best sellers list”
OR
“The powers that the Sussex County Sheriff has, will be decided by the Sussex Council and should be. The county council has the sovereign power to decide that office and the future and it’s duties.” Don Ayotte
OR
” that the NCC Sheriff is the Law Enforcement entity in NCC”
among other completely assinine comments, with no basis in fact or logic, deserves to be ridiculed. ( I could continue to comment – but there is not enough room here to list them all)
and as for snarkey – you will find more of that in DP along with monkey discussing Shakespeare (thanks Geezer) – so tuck in your tale, suck up your balls and run along back there – thanks
How do you have a name like “Researcher” and miss Obama condemning Reverend Wright?
April 2008:
“I am outraged by the comments that were made and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday. I had been a member of Trinity United Church since 1992. I’ve known Reverend Wright for almost twenty years. The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met twenty years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate, and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church. They certainly don’t portray accurately my values and beliefs. And if Reverend Wright thinks that that’s political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn’t know me very well. And based on his remarks yesterday, well, I might not know him as well as I thought, either.”
Now Researcher, show me John Sigler’s statement condemning Bill Colley’s racism. Where is Kovach’s statement?
Bill Colley’s rants are posted on the News page of WGMD. His racism has been documented on this blog and on DelawarePolitics. “99% of the people there” were from Sussex and listen to Colley every day. Glen Urquhart and the Conservative Coalition use Colley as their mouthpiece, Rich Collins goes on Colley’s show once a week. Every active republican in the state knows exactly what Bill Colley does on the air every day and what he did to Mike Castle and Michelle Rollins during the primary.
This is just BULLSHIT from people making excuses for republicans who knew exactly who Colley was and what the PAC running the event did in 2010 and went anyway.
The question on everybody’s mind is “What did Sigler know about Colley’s comments and when did he know it?”
If Sigler walked into that Bull Roast unaware then why isn’t he answering your calls? Sigler is hiding because he knew everything and went anyway.
I’d be OK with Kovach, I’d rather see him run against Paul Clark, or, God help us, against KWS.
You can’t go to Sussex and pander to a bunch of extremists at a Bull Roast MCd by a known racist, then expect to go to NCCo and claim to be a moderate.
Based on what he writes and says on air Colley really seems to have a low opinion of New Castle County and its citizens. Even if Colley had never called Obama’s dad a “savage,” why would the New Castle County Council President attend an event featuring a man who thinks that way about his constituents? Self hating much Tom?
Notice what has not happened here? NO REPUBLICAN- not Sigler, not Kovach, not any elected official, would-be candidate, or party officer- NONE OF THEM- have said anything in response to Colley’s words or this event. Cowards all.
If Kovach runs every voter in the state needs to know that he went to this, had a chance to speak out & condemn it, and did nothing.
I don’t understand twitter, but I think you can ask kovach directly by tweeting stuff like:
Does @TomKovach know that Colley said that the President’s mother had sex with “savages” in order to civilize them?
or..
@TomKovach Did you really attend an event hosted by rabid racist Bill Colley?
Kowardly Kovach your name needs one more “K” word in it to make it funny.
Kowardly Kovach Kares 2012
@Researcher – another note on Don Ayotte
Does the below comment reek of intelligence to you? from DP today:
“DonAyotte”
Just a little tidbit of information. Since you don’t know what conservator of the peace means:
The word COP is derived from the phrase, “conservator of the peace. Just a bit of trivia.
It is widely known that a cop is a peace officer or law enforcement officer.”
OMG – really? is he THAT stupid? who told him THAT? Eric Bodenweiser? LOL
the term was used as far back as 1700 as a verb, as in catching (copping) someone. We still use ‘COPPING” as in a plea agreement or owning up to a crime
It has had MANY uses!! Many
But Don Ayotte’s is a new one alright!! I would provide a link but you are a “Researcher” so – look it up yourself!
