Herman Cain leads Iowa with 23%, followed by Mitt Romney at 19%, Newt Gingrich at 15%, Ron Paul at 12%, Rick Perry at 9% and Michele Bachmann at 5%. In South Carolina, Cain leads with 26%, followed by Gingrich at 19%, Romney at 16%, Perry at 6%, Bachmann at 5%, Ron Paul at 3% and Rick Santorum at 1%.
And the Republicans are debating for the 4,439th time this evening. This time they will embarrass themselves on the topic of national security and foreign policy.
Since the Occupy Wall Street movement began, it has been hard for the media and ourselves to judge if the protest is working. This is because the protestors don’t have a single leader, or organization, or a list of demands. But this chart may be the only way we can tell that it is working:
The NYT/CBS did a poll recently on attitudes towards some of the OWS issues and you can see the results here. They note that about half of all Americans share OWS sentiments. The NYT presents this as a scattergraph so real numbers don’t seem to be here.
What interests me is how pervasive the idea that middle class and poor people are increasingly disenfranchised to the benefit of corporations or even government is. We have a great many politicians who are giving alot of lip service to middle class squeeze issues, but they persistently vote for the interests of corporations and their government. And somehow sell it as shared sacrifice, when there is little that is shared.
Occupy Delaware info:
I stopped by last night to drop off blankets and tarps and other stuff and even observed my first GA. Boy do I ever admire this group of people who were sans the folks we worry about last night. (And on Wednesday night when I dropped by with Councilwoman Loretta Walsh).
If you are included to support these folks, they have a new list of needs. Trying to insulate tents seems to be the work of the day, so if you can help with this, please do. One of them told me last night that they could also use canned goods (food they can just warm up) and trash bags (they are packing out all of their trash).
“Herman Cain learned everything he knows hosting a right-wing radio show.”–Andrew Sullivan
OK – Im going to try to understand this:
Bill Colley tweets about lynching a Moor (supposedly in jest) to remimd the good folk of DE about the 9/12 meeting
THEN – he tweets this:
BumpColley Bill Colley
Dear liberal media bastards. When do you publish the front page apology to Herman Cain?
BumpColley Bill Colley
Michael Eric Dyson pronounces Cain innocent. So what was the media’s goal in all of this? Oh, yeah. High tech lynching!
was there supposed to be a front page apology to Herman Cain because???
or is the plain old lynching ok for “Moors” just not the High Tech One???
Is the high tech lynching too good for Herman Cain??
and what does Michael Eric Dyson have to do with anything, and what does he know??
and gee – if one of us talked abou the Conservative media bastards in here there would be knashing of teeth
I suggest Mr. Colley, that you deal with the trash and scandal in Sussex County like Eric Bodenweiser suborning bribery and his wife getting a nice cushy County job in the Register of Wills office as soon as Cindy Green got elected…
whatta think?? HMMMM???
A twitter reply to Colley by a non-fan:)!
@BumpColley Dear liberal media bastards. When do you publish the front page apology to Herman Cain? Dear Punk radio bastard: NEVER! #NetDE
My guess is that all of the Big Macs the Fatman eats on a daily basis have finally taken their toll on him and his brain.
I’m delighted that we are all ignoring the 50 billionith GOP debate, but the good folks at the Guardian live-blogged this thing and this is funny even without the prosecco buzz.
And I suspect you’d need to fact check anything Bill Colley says about anything — I can’t find anything that Michael Eric Dyson said that Cain was innocent of anything. What I’ve found so far is pretty critical of Cain as you might expect if you were familiar with Dyson’s work.
Thanks for the link. I figured this was going to be the case.
“In general though, the tenor of all the answers here is that it’s 1992 and US military and economic power is unchallenged.
Gingrich, for example, blithely sits there and spouts off about taking out President Assad of Syria through “covert means,” as if it’s that simple (not to mention illegal).
Let’s pretend the last 10 years never happened, shall we?”
Obama will be regarded as unAmerican if he dares pretend that the last ten years happened.
@Cassandra – I did just that and nuttin…..
I’m jealous re the proseco buzz…….cheater!!

You can’t get it on mainstream…
There is someone for everyone in today’s Occupy De coverage in the NJ. People who like “Those crazy hippies.” coverage will love Chalmers’ choice of signs to report.
A telling piece of info not covered by Chalmers is that BofA felt the need to take out a section A full page add reminding everyone how “home town” BofA is.
Hats off to Occupy DE.
Dont know if you all saw Occupy Portland’s victorythis AM
of course victory for both the police and the Occupy folks – it doesn’t always have to be a negative interaction when brains and good policy are put together.
then again on a lighter note- any liberals/progressives in Rehoboth today – dont forget
Meet n Greet for Mitch Crane at Mariachi 2-4 on Wilmington Ave
I’m still planning on going – I would LOVE it if I got to meet “meatball” and everyone else who wants to come.
and phil – I hope you do show up! I might even slide by Stingray later..
Michael Vick earned $1 million today.
meatball works all weekend otherwise i’d be there.
Nice turnout for the meet & greet for Mitch Crane today. It was great to see Pete Schwartzkopf there. A huge thank you to the Reyes Family for hosting this at MARIACHI!!!! And the food was really good, too. 🙂
