Wednesday Daily Delawhere [12.7.11]

Filed in National by on December 7, 2011

This tavern, on the corner of State Street and The Green in Dover, is the birthplace of Delaware. Yes, this state was born in a bar. Yes, that explains a lot. I will explain. This building is a recreation of the original tavern, which was torn down in the 1800’s. It was here that Delaware officials decided to ratify the Constitution, making Delaware the first state on December 7, 1787. What is the name of the tavern? Yes, I altered the picture so you can not see the name of the tavern.

And Happy Delaware Day!
