Newt: I Would Make Sarah Palin Secretary Of the Interior

Newt Gingrich is speaking at the RWNJ Republican Conference. He gathered huge applause when he said that if he was elected President he would nominate former half-term Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin as Secretary of the Interior.

Updated: Sorry. It was John Bolton for Secretary of State. Simple mistake, they are equally crazy.

With Bolton running State, we’d be back to fighting three wars within six months. Deficit, what deficit? The costs: no big deal, we took the pledge from Grover.
Hmmmm … maybe we’d better give Interior to Palin. Just drill, baby, drill in Alaska and we’ll generate the revenue needed to pay for Bolton’s wars.

  3. He broke the law making that pledge:

“Naming individuals you would appoint to office before the election is apparently illegal. Here’s Title 18, Part I, Chapter 29, Section 599 of the U.S. Code:

“Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”

I doubt he’ll be prosecuted since Obama doesn’t prosecute anybody in the 1% except John Edwards.

I see, so you get a major statement from the leading GOP candidate utterly wrong and then call Palin crazy. That is typical Palin Derangement Syndrome in action.

It is called satire in action. But I know a lot of Republicans suffer from satire impairment syndrome, so don’t be down on yourself about not getting it.

Nice try. the reality is that you are so caught up in your Palin hatred that Gingrich said one thing but your closed mind heard what it wanted to. That is a classic example of cognitive dissidence.

Mike, as a Republican, you are not qualified to talk about reality. Keep going though. I’m amused by the fact that you think that Palin is still worthy of liberal contempt.

Pass the popcorn. Mitt to unload both barrels on Newt tomorrow. And by “barrels” I’m mean a couple of has been GOP douche bags.

Mitt Romney’s press office just sent out word that tomorrow morning two Mitt surrogates, former Gov. John Sununu and former Sen. Jim Talent, will hold a press conference call to “discuss Speaker Gingrich’s record.”
