My Email to Ron Williams
Ron,
My readers are eager to know if you are stupid or devious? Or both?
In your July 30th column you mentioned a “Democratic in-house poll of New Castle County and statewide candidates” that you first mentioned on July 27th, boasting, “I have the latest in-house Democratic Party poll that includes most of the statewide and New Castle County candidates.”
The first time you mentioned this “in-house” poll you sounded suspicious of the data and mentioned frequently that you found the results “surprising.” By the second time you mentioned the poll your skepticism must have waned though because you don’t mention being so surprised. Not only that, but you take pains to build up the credibility of the poll by stating within the first paragraph that “It was run by Vince D’Anna, former staffer for Sen. Joe Biden, under the name of Delaware Survey Research. He’s done numerous polls over the years, including many for Biden and other Democrats”
But Vince D’Anna (who you neglected to note in your column is supporting John Carney by the way) disclosed, and it has since been confirmed by others, that that the poll in question was done for Tom Gordon and was not an “in-house Democratic Party” poll at all. So my readers are wondering if D’Anna lied to you about the poll or you knowing lied to your readers about the poll.
I have $5.00 riding on the fact that you lied to your readers in order to help boost the John Carney campaign, so your help in clearing this up would be most welcome.
Sincerely,
Jason
Delawareliberal
PS. I hope you don’t mind me calling you “Ron” even though we haven’t met. Since we are both in the journalism biz, I thought a bit of collegiality might be in order. Perhaps not given my question.
Suggesting that you’re a journalist because you write for a blog is like saying you’re in the computer industry because you can open a web browser.
if (fullOfIt(Jason) == true) {
throw BSException(“Give me a break”);
}
If DL was a straight up campaign sock puppet blog I might have blushed as I wrote it. As it is not, I just giggled.
To be honest J, if you are seriously intending to send that to Ron Williams, delete the first line and the last paragraph. You just come off sounding like a dick, and I don’t think you’re one. Otherwise, nice letter…
Thanks. I’ll do that and send it to the letters for publication address.
word.
I didn’t do that.
Yes you did. It is called a pingback. When you link to a DL page, a comment appears linking to your blog.
Gotya… my apologies, didn’t mean to advertise
It’s perfectly acceptable. In fact, it is appreciated. We journalists love it.
It means you love us, Call It!
haha yeah, i love all journalists!
‘You just come off sounding like a dick’
Not Jason!
I’m sure we’ll all have a big laugh over all of this after the Obama & Markell wins in November.
No, Dominique will be suicidal by then. Her beloved McCain will have lost.
How thick are you guys? You don’t even get that you are as focused on and obnoxious about your Obama love as I am about my disdain for him. You’re just as blinded as I am. What a bitter, bitter irony.
Let me repeat it for the 100th time – I win either way. I’m not married to the idea of McCain winning. If Obama wins I get at least four years of solid entertainment. C’mon, I’m a glass half full kind of girl.
“Since we are both in the journalism biz, I thought a bit of collegiality might be in order. ”
woohooo…..that’s a funny!!!!
BTW, I just LOVE your polls….if you catch me drift, matey!!!!
At least she admits that her silly ass comments are not about reason but about her emotions.
That’s progress.
Yes, Jason, they’re about my out-of-control female emotions. You’re a racist AND a sexist. Well played, child.
Any response yet? My guess is no.
