Adams and Carney

I will have more to write about the News Journal’s article on Senate Pro Tem Thurman Adams later this morning, but I had to just post about this picture.  I think it is devastating for the Carney campaign.

In this caption, the News Journal lauds Adams as basically an old legislative dictator, with Carney sitting next to him looking like a lackey.     Maybe it is my progressive bias, but Adams is one our our obstacles, one of our enemies.   An enemy of open government and transperancy.   A defender of the establishment and the status quo.  And there is Carney, sitting right next to him and smiling.

A devastating image.

Saying that Carney looks “like a lackey” isn’t a Progressive bias, it’s just juvenile. Let’s try to keep the election debate civil.

My first impression of this when I saw it last night on delawareonline was to think Carney was an idiot for letting it happen, but he didn’t exactly request to have it taken. However, it happened and here we are. The association, certainly not a surprise on different levels (Carney runs the Senate sessions and then you have the “Delaware Way”), does Carney a disfavor.

Then I read that article. Holy crap. They try to wax poetic and justify the arcane Senate rules and Adams’ complete mastery of them, and who, thanks to the association, is now smack in the middle of it? Carney.

    I blame the right-wing media.

It’s pathetic that the residents of his district continued to re-elect him time and again but more pathetic that his collegues put him in a position of power. Since he states in the article that he doesn’t seek power, it seems his collegues would be doing him a service by NOT putting that burden on his shoulders again.

And, DeLuca’s remarks should be just enough to keep him from being the heir to the throne!

Someone like Sokola or Peterson would be excellent in the ProTem slot. Both are fair and reasonable people who work for their constituencies and aren’t in the pocket of any special interests. And, both understand the definition of ‘facilitator’.

The man described as low-key and caring, who says his family is the center of his universe

seriously, that is exactly what they say about Dick Cheney

I noticed Liane Sorenson echoed this meme here.

I wonder if the HIGH DEMs will have enough money left after the primary to go after Liane’s seat. Will the Democratic party help the Dem nominee in this general election fight?

here is the entire quote that dd mentions.

There are two sides to Thurman Adams: The man described as low-key and caring, who says his family is the center of his universe, and the Democratic senator who some have accused of being vindictive and dictatorial, using his position to derail entire categories of legislation.
