Fort Christina Monument Fort Christina park on east 7th st
Yep. This is the Swedish Landing Monument in Fort Christina Park, marking the site of where the Swedes first landed in the New World in 1638.
If Republicans were around then, they would have asked for their papers.
I took my kids to this little forlorn park once years ago. They still wonder what possesed the Swedes to decide this was the place.
They probably ran aground and sat “Meh, this will do.”
“When the ship runs out of ocean, and the vessel runs aground LAND’s where we know the food is found.
Now there’s nothing unexpected about the ocean giving out, “LAND’s” not a word we have to shout.”
When you’re on a boat that long, manatees start to look like mermaids.
Speaking to Rusty I am sure that since the Swedes landed 200 years before the Industrial Revolution killed all forms of life in the Christiana and the Brandywine East 7th st was probably a much nicer place
