Celia Covers Newt
You can read it if you want. The usual Celia tid bits are present. For example, did you know that Steve Forbes beat party anointed, Bob Dole in Delaware because Forbes showed up? Celia knows it. She says it all the time.
“Good Morning Ma’am, Welcome to WalMart.”
“Did you know that Steve Forbes beat party anointed, Bob Dole in Delaware because Forbes showed up here? Uh huh… Sherman Tribbit had a cat named Dusty!!”
Anyway, Newt is going to win in Delaware unless someone else shows up. Showing up is big according to Celia.
As for actual Newt news, I got two things out of Celia’s blog post:
1) 400 people showed up in Hockessin (sp?). That’s 382 moe than usually show up for a Newt event.
2) Newt is the GOP brainy egghead. His brain is so big it comes up with deep thoughts like this one:
“They’re desperately trying to avoid having sufficient energy, because if you have sufficient energy, you’ll be able to drive anything you want. They don’t want you to drive anything you want. They want you to drive what they want,” he said.
“If you go to work, and you earn money, and it’s your money, you should be allowed to have the lifestyle you want, driving the vehicle you want on your terms, and not being dictated to by the politicians in Washington,” he continued.
If you can make sense out of that you win a picture with Newt Gingrich.
I thought that bit of press CW about Newtie being the brains of his party quietly died after they actually saw the guy campaign. Seriously, if Newie wins here in Delaware it is because all of the GOP voters haven’t had a recent CW update.
Let’s be careful what we say about Celia. After all, Delaware Today named her one of “50 people who have shaped our lives over the past five decades.”
I mean, if Delaware Today says so, well, that must be pretty powerful. She’s up in the same league as Dave Tiberi and the Three Little Bakers.
MW, you did notice who wrote up the puff piece on her in Delaware Today, didn’t you?
Was it Michael Castle?
Oh. Laird W. Stabler and Priscilla Rakestraw. That was my next guess.
It is command of trivia, like the fact that Sherman Tribbit had a cat named Dusty, that gives Celia her power.
