Day One Postscript
Wow. Michelle Obama blew me away with her speech. I knew she was a good speaker before, but her delivery and the substance were spot on. She gets an A++. But even a good speech by Michelle and a surprise appearance by Barack Obama (via satellite) was upstaged by their beautiful daughters.
And that was not scripted. You can’t script 6 year olds, and when you do, it sounds horrible and, well, scripted. “Hi Daddy!!” “What city are you in tonight, Daddy?” Perfect. The Obamas are a true American family, and anyone who says otherwise reveals themselves as what they truly are.
Teddy Kennedy, the liberal lion and the most accomplished U.S. Senator in all history, made a “surprise” appearance (everyone knew he was in Denver by the afternoon), and, even though his delivery was halting and labored in some spots, he gave an excellent speech that harkened back to his 1980 concession speech.
James Carville apparently thinks there was not enough Republican bashing in last night’s speeches. Well, that is by design. Last night was to introduce the Obamas, and Barack Obama specifically, to America, and to relive some liberal past. Tonight is Hillary’s night, and her mission is twofold, bring her supporters to Obama, and attack McCain. Wednesday will also be about contrast, with Biden and Bill Clinton speaking.
So there will be plenty of Republican bashing upcoming, so Mr. Carville should relax. Besides, it would not have worked in Ted Kennedy’s or Michelle Obama’s speeches anyway.
WDEL picked up the impromptu exchange between father and daughters as a sound bite this morning. AWESOME!
This campaign is so freaking smart. You can’t script moments like that, but they put the pieces in place and play the percentages.
Ted’s speech was was emotional in it’s delivery and could not help but stir emotion is those watching it. A dying man cared enough to use what energy he had to repeat the convictions of a lifetime and to inspire a new generation to carry the torch. Powerful stuff. The Lion does not go quietly into Winter.
James Carville apparently thinks there was not enough Republican bashing in last night’s speeches.
That’ll start today, with the insistance that the jackholes arrested on suspicion of planning an assassination attempt are representative of the GOP.
My bad, it already did on the other thread.
LOL.

Oh, barf! We all know that the libs love him, but “the most accomplished U.S. Senator in all history?” Just what has he accomplished that makes him more accomplished than anyone else in that chamber’s history?

Dana…Joe Scarborough, no liberal, and indeed a Gingrich Republican, said that this morning.
Civil Rights Act of 64, Voting Rights Act, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, the Kennedy-Kasenbaum Portable Healthcare Act in 1995 that created Cobra, and that is just off the top of my head.
Wow. I actually shut up Rsmitty and Dana. Nice.
What in the hell did I say about Kennedy?
The stereotyping around here is what pisses me off (in another thread, referred to in comment #3).
