Very well spun ad indeed! Excellent! Forget the actual record of how many times McCain went opposite the administration, the ad does a good job of making it stick. Forget what a pain in the a** McCain was for 8 yrs for Bush – the ad is “slick” as the youngsters say. Ugh.
Since when did opposing a candidate mean you have to throw out all facts that nobody disputes about that person?! Seriously – you aren’t honestly saying that you are happy to be all alone in the U.S. as the only person to not know that McCain and Bush were like oil & water on almost everything except the war and immigration?!
So what part of McCain himself saying he voted for Bush’s program 90% of the time did you not get? McCain is campaigning on his closeness with the BushCo fiasco.
And that is a really great ad. Where is that playing, anyone know?
cassandra,
have you watched any of the RNC? Not one commentator would draw the conclusion you just drew – not one. Nobody to a man or woman is arguing that McCain is campaigning on his “closeness” to Bush. This simply reveals that you have not bothered to even watch the coverage. Everyone has noted how last night they did as much as they could short of disinviting Bush to speak to distance themselves from Bush and this administration. Bush speaks for a paltry few mins, then they go back in time to a montage (tired as it was) of Ronald Reagan, then to the speeches of the night. Seriously – whether you think McCain is Bush all over again or not – let’s engage the brain a little bit here – noBODY thinks he wants to be seen that way, and the campaign is doing what it can to distance him from Bush. That’s simply a political strategy fact.
One excerpt in case reading these stories might get in the way of your view – this from CNN (no friend of McCain we would all admit): “the last thing the McCain camp wants is to have the president campaign too aggressively for him.
The economy is in tough shape, a majority of the American people want the war in Iraq to end, and Bush’s approval ratings remain low.
That’s why McCain aides designed Tuesday to be “Maverick Night,” to highlight the many times the senator has broken with his party and the president…. That conundrum is also why rank-and-file delegates said privately they were not too upset when Hurricane Gustav delayed the president’s planned speech Monday — they are eager to turn the page from the Bush years.”
Loved the ad!
Oh man that clip at the end is a killer.
They need to show that around the clock.

If he voted with his party 88.3% of the time, missed 63.8% of the votes, exactly how much of a PITA could he have been?
Remember that a vote against Mike Castle will be a vote against the same too. His record is 93% with Bushie.

WERE like oil and water – past tense. McCain has changed most of his mavericky positions
I guess that oil and water merged in a chemical reactionary miracle on corporate welfare. Or are you alone alone in the spin room today?

Intands to make permanent the Bush tax cuts. Does that fall under war or immigration?
Please, I’m all alone.
See joe, this is how I throw out all the facts. Give it a shot big boy.
Cassandra, I saw it on MSNBC and CNN last night.
