Turnout is up, astronomically in some places, so that could be good news. Whatever happens tonight, it will not be a harbinger for November. Why?
Obama leads Romney 51-45 among #WIrecall voters, regardless ot today’s vote, per early exit polls

“Turnout is up, astronomically in some places…”
About 119% in Madison. Nine out of ten dead people vote Democrat.
You do realize that they allow same day registration in Wisconsin, right? That is why turn out is up over 100%, because new unregistered voters are showing up, registering, and then voting.
That is a good thing, if you like democracy. But since you Republicans hate democracy, no doubt you are dismayed.
CNN says first batch of exit polls: 50 Walker, 50 Barrett
Chuck Todd @chucktodd
We are officially saying WI is “too close to call”; Precinct exit data indicates total coin flip.
Why was it that after Obama and the Dems rammed Obamacare down the nation’s throat in 2010, we were all told to deal with it because elections have consequences. However, Walker and the Republicans in Wisconsin shook things up and the elected Democrats in the state assembly fled and the liberals and unions immediately began calling for a recall? Why do elections have consequences for Republicans, but not for Dems in Wisconsin?
The difference is Obama campaigned on healthcare reform, and won in a landslide. Walker did not campaign on busting unions and ending collective bargaining. Indeed, he did the exact opposite. So he lied to the unions. That is why he is being recalled.
DD, you cannot explain simple things like this to Boris. I don’t remember anything being rammed down anyone’s throat, but keep rewriting that history, Boris. Maybe Natasha might approve.
Breaking: NBC projects Walker wins. This is a sad day for Wisconsin.
About to call it for Walker. Suck it slow, losers!
Watched the whole evening on twitter, no cable tv. I am really sad for Wisconsin. So many people worked so hard against so much out of state money. Those right wingers are zombies voting against their own best interest. Very sad.
So original, Boris. Not.
As a nation we’ve gotten past having dummies at the polls before. We actually had US citizens voting to keep slaves. Can you believe it?
We’ll get through this too.
I think both republicans and democrats can agree that Scott Walker is a horrible motherfucking piece of shit. It is what Republicans like about him and Democrats dislike. It is what accounts for the turnout on both sides.
they dont see HIM as a horrible fucking piece of shit, Jason. they see YOU and ME as horrible blah blah blah.. and they like that Walker fights dirty against us, and “punishes” us for gittin’ all uppity. They think he’s a hero giving queers wedgies and tossing mud on feminazis. Our good friend Boris knows what I’m talkin about.
As soon as I heard Obama up 6, I knew we lost. Obama won the state by twice that. Looks like the voter suppression laws worked – could not get enough of our people out.
Whether a Democrat or a Republican, it’s not in the name itself, it’s about a person who respects, has integrity, and honors their country. The language some choose to use shows that they can’t be civilized or have decent conversations in talking about facts. Where are the facts. Not one Democrat gives a solid answer to any questions asked.
PTL
X Striker, I couldn’t get into their precinct tallies yet, but it appears the suburbs turned out fully, and the inner city, said “what the heck”.
Whether it was voter suppression or lack of super excitement like 2008, either way, the inner city is who lost the election.
But no one can say that this is a trend of the future. This was a recall election. And from the looks of things, no one changed their mind from 2010 to 2012.. The same people all voted the same way.
Most of us in the same shoes would vote exactly the same way we did in 2008… were our elected officials recalled…
X, they still allowed same-day registration for this election and did not require voters to produce IDs. On the bright side, it appears that the Dems have taken control of the state senate.
cool. now they can start obstructing.
David, the L had nothing to do with this or any other election, including the one for pope.
And Obama even tweeted his support! Maybe if Obama had “liked” Barrett’s Facebook page, it would have made a difference.
On the bright side, at least the DNC didn’t get its hands dirty by helping out in this race and getting tagged with the loss.
My favorite part was when the Rachel Maddow Show stopped running the returns across the bottom of the screen with like 12% of the vote in, and started talking about any other story but the recall election.
I’m thinking the time is ripe to go after NFL players unions. How all those minority players manage to keep confiscating money from the owners is hard to figure. The Wisconsin vote tells us people want bosses in control, workers should just work, shut up.
and there were a lot of Packers players out urging Walker’s recall.
It is a very sad day. This does not bode well.
The left lost this battle but the war goes on. Big money super pacs and the plutocrats that run them will be encouraged, they gave Walker an eight to one advantage in money. We lost but we’ll fight on as the country’s cold civil war heats up and perhaps overflows into violence.
And it will just get worse if it’s a Republican sweep in November.
Doug Henwood writes a perceptive and take-no-prisoners analysis of Wisconsin.
HAHAHA! This is great…better than I imagined!
I also love how Maddow et. al. were out there before the election chirping about how incredibly important it was nationally and how it would impact every election all the way down to “dog catcher.” Then, forty-nine minutes after the poles closed, they were all scrambling and falling all over each other yelling how this election was meaningless outside of Wisconsin. Priceless!
Voter suppression!? Really? Did you dopes see the percentage of people that voted in this election? No one’s votes were suppressed, idiots!
Funny how for the past year it has been said this recall vote was going to be the “harbinger” for 2012 but now that Walker won suddenly the script needs to be rewritten.
Walker won in the birthplace of Progressives in 2010 & again in 2012…the citizens of Wisconsin have witnessed Walker’s fiscal responsibilty plan actually worked and their economy is doing much better.
“It’s the economy stupid”…Bill Clinton
In truth, their economy is not “doing much better.” Perhaps if you read the exit polls you’d realize that a significant chunk of the electorate said they disagreed with recalling a governor for anything short of malfeasance in office. Those folks should soon get their wish, as the John Doe investigation closes in on him.
But keep on peddlin’ that ripe-smelling horseshit, Mouse.
glad to see you are still as kind and considerate as ever Geezer…you rep Del Libs well 😉
And you are as dumb and fact-free as ever.
grumpy & snarky at the same time…nice.
i keep imagining a Punch an Judy puppet show based on your back and forth.
An old toothless guy with a cain and bottle of bourbon VS a 3’8″ mouse in a super hero costume…. i smell Comedy Central’s next 1030 slot!!!!
have i mentioned lately how entertaining you all are?
@cassandra–most original and perceptive piece of writing by anyone I’ve read this week. Thanks
