Mitch Crane is Endorsed by NCCo. Democrats [That’s a Big Fracking Deal]
The New Castle County Democratic Party yesterday announced its endorsement of Mitch Crane in the Democratic Primary for Insurance Commissioner. This is a surprise to me, as I had heard that Karen might have had some support among their ranks. At best, I expected a non-endorsement.
For his part, Mitch Crane issued a statement upon learning of the endorsement:
“I am humbled to have earned the support of the New Castle County Democratic Party. I look forward to working with them to return the Department of Insurance to the consumer oriented office it once was.”
I don’t want to get ahead of things here, but it looks like Democratic Primary voters might see through the very transparent efforts to divide the anti-Karen vote, and of course, Mitch Crane has certainly done his part in convincing voters that he is the best one for the job.

I must admit I’m surprised. The party usually seems to protect the incumbent. Go Mitch!
I’m not surprised, mainly because I’m in on the endorsement process. Yes, I think this is highly unusual and it’ll be interesting to see how the other Democratic committees go. I doubt KWS has much of a presence in Sussex, Crane will probably be favored there. Wilmington will be the one to watch, since she’s lived there for many years.

I have to add that I think KWS is a slight favorite in the race. She hasn’t made many friends but she has a split anti-incumbent vote and she has name recognition.
