Per Drudge, some brutal late night shots at McCain, who cancelled on Letterman tonight:
David Letterman tells audience that McCain called him today to tell him he had to rush back to DC to deal with the economy.
Then in the middle of the taping Dave got word that McCain was, in fact just down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric. Dave even cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, “Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?”

It sounds like McCain’s stunt is a massive FAIL. SUSA did a flash poll and found only 10% thought the debate should be cancelled.
50% hold as scheduled
36% hold, focus on economy
10% postpone
I think it will get worse for McCain. He’s proposing to move the debate to Oct. 2 and reschedule the VP debate. It sure looks like he’s trying to hide Sarah!
Sooooo stooooopid! This stunt with Letterman is what the public will understand and will ultimately expose McCain’s country first as crap.
Also, he’d never get away with canceling the VP debate. The election would be OVER.

Yeah, I think this will really start moving public opinion. Apparently the only campaign activities he’s suspending is running ads. How does having ads running keep an agreement from being reached? Weird!
It works if it results in Obama pulling his ads.
If there is one thing McCain knows – it’s when to jump out of a burning plane.

Maddow had his number tonight too, giving a list of his stunts to date. She had Chris Matthews calling the McCain stunts razzledazzle and saying that the American people don’t want 8 years of razzledazzle.
