Wenky is whistling past the graveyard
Celia just filed a story about a recent Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) visit to Delaware to start coordinating a campaign to get rid the festering sore that is Michael Castle. (I’m paraphrasing, of course.)
Anyway, I liked the part where Wenky puts on a brave face.
“We chalk up to wishful thinking,” said Elizabeth B. Wenk, the congressman’s deputy chief of staff. “He’s not going to be retiring anytime soon. He’s in it to win.”
With all the lobbyist paid junkets she gets to go on, I guess I can’t blame her for wanting to keep her “weekend at Bernies” going for a few more years.
UPDATE: I wondered why Celia used the “B” in Wenks name. As it turns out the B stands for “Brealey” so maybe Celia was trying to spare her some measure of embarrassment by just using the B. (Just a guess on my part.)
Do not quite understand why the name “Brealey” would cause embarrassment. It is a family name from South Derbyshire in England, United Kingdom. Could you explain why you ‘guessed’ this assumption?
Jason is just jealous. His last name is a first name and he’s been confused his entire life. Anyone who has a real last name gets him upset. Take me, I drive him nuts and it all has to do with my last name: Smith. How much more last-namey can you get than that?
Jason – looks like you upset the family. Need a place to hide?
Gordon,
Welcome to Delawareliberal! It looks like I guessed wrong about why Celia used the “B”.
For what it is worth, Newbie is right about me being jealous of ole Wenky. But it is not her name. I want to go on lobbyist paid junkest and cash in as I help Mr. Bush drive this country off the cliff – all the while sleeping like a baby under the illusion that I’m a “good person”.
But it was not in the cards for me.
Jason,
You could still sell your soul… Burris is in a buying mood. You could be in Indy by the morning.
