Markell Picks Pompous Ass for CoS
Jack is much smarter than I am, so we’ll see what this Rochford thing is all about. Suffice it to say that I don’t get it.

I don’t get it either. Whenever Rochford would be on that Friday political roundtable on WHYY, I would say the same thing: What a pompous ass. Could this be payback for all the Republican votes Jack got and, in effect, giving him the governor’s seat?
So the anonymous tipster was right.
Why?
Is this a big problem, though? Doesn’t the CoS make the governor’s agenda possible? If so, won’t he have to do Markell’s priorities and not his own?
Is this guy really the best available?
Markell is going for change alright. Elect a guy who was around with DuPont when he was governor. Nothing like getting the Old old boy network up and running.
Everyone needs to take a breath . . . seriously.
How did I know that bi-partisanship would cause coronaries at DE Liberal? Is “bi-partisan” a bad word here?
The only one having a coronary here is Arthur, a Republican.
DG, not for me.
Really, Jason? Arthur wrote the title of your post?
Why not look for the benefit in such an appointment like, say, giving GOPers an incentive in the success of the Markell administration or being able to draw upon Rochford’s extensive contacts in the business community.
HAHAHHAHA, I am happily unaffiliated.
What disappoints me is that the expected call still hasn’t come. Maybe I should have Verizon check the lines.
El Somnambulo says, if you are waiting for Verizon to check the lines, you will have to wait while they try to pawn off the failed lines on Delmarva and Comcast. El Somnambulo speaks from experience.
Given that the name of the site is Delaware LIBERAL, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that its readers tend to be liberal; i.e., partisan, or that they are concerned about giving high profile appointments to Republicans.
Partisanship exists for a reason, which is that people disagree about political solutions to problems. The answer to that is not some false Broderist bipartisanship that only makes an appearance when Democrats are in power.
El Somnambulo has yet to find an article verifying this appointment. Wrong Williams wrote that it was a done deal in the same column where he wrote that Valerie Longhurst had won in a recount. That recount was unexpected, considering that she ran unopposed.
There’s mucho info about Markell’s transition team at Delaware Online, but no mention of Rochford. Is it possible that this leak was a trial balloon, and that it turned out to be made of lead?
Nothing in the afternoon presser. Allan Loudell sounded pretty dang sure.
Of course he is enough of a pro to leave himself a little wiggle room.
Hi – can anyone point me to a site that gives a bio about Rochford.
Thanks – Rod – North Wilmington
Here’s a bio on Rochford for you:
http://www.amm.com/events/2008/moving/bios.asp
Rochford a Mike Harkin stooge!
What does that mean?
Harkins’ downfall was the Delaware River & Bay Authority, the place that semi-retired connected politicos gather to go on junkets.
There doesn’t appear to be a connection Rochford’s Maritime Ports organization.
Hats off to you El Somnambulo.
Hmmm ….. I tend to find myself reading El Somnabulo’s comments with a heavy spanish accent. Anyone else?
A sleepy Spanish accent.
Harkins took the fall for Castle, and Rochford and Harkin were best buds.
