Be fair… Mike Steele is a smart guy and, I would say, a wise choice choice for GOP leadership even w/o “The Obama Effect.” … unless you’re referring to the top post, with which I would have to agree with the continuous laughter… catch Bill O’Reilly trying to convince Jon Stewart that Greenwich Village isn’t diverse on The Daily Show? HA!

  2. nemski

Badmon3333 but you can’t discount “The Obama Effect” much like one couldn’t discount “The Hillary Effect” with the Palin pick.

  3. FSP

You would have some credibility if….wait, no you wouldn’t. Let’s start over.

An ordinary person would have credibility with that argument if Steele wasn’t the favorite of many people for the RNC Chair position(including the proprietor of said blog) long before Obama even declared for the presidency.

  4. nemski

Oh, so Obama running for President could be considered “The Steele Effect”. Gotcha.

  5. nemski

FSP, the Republican Party is the party of hate. Putting a black face on it is not going to change that.

  6. FSP

Yeah. Stick with that. Your stay will be short.

  7. anon

Well there goes Georgia and South Carolina.

  8. nemski

Yeah. Stick with that. Your stay will be short.

    What you talkin’ about Willis?

Re: nemski… The major difference being that Steele is actually a level-headed, credible candidate for the position, as opposed to Palin. But FSP is right, Steele might have only declared his interest recently, but his name has been on a lot of lips for a while.

But putting his picture on the masthead of Delaware Politics, come on now. Who next? Bobby Jindal?

  11. Truth Teller

Thank God that the Mayor of Newark New Jersey is not only black but very smart and also a Dem. I believe that this guy is a rising star.

  12. But putting his picture on the masthead of Delaware Politics, come on now. Who next? Bobby Jindal?

Actually, it was supposed to be me, but my picture kept appearing right about center. There was severe blow-back from the thinktanks suddenly interested in fixing the party – the ones who thought nothing was wrong for much of the ’00 decade. I was quickly set aside as a liberal.

FWIW, Steele has been a long-time, well-respected GOP member. This really should not be a surprise, regardless of the timing. Go ahead, make fun of the masthead, though. It creates a nice back-and-forth between the blogs, especially at a time when that Burris fellow is being too damned nice to you all.

This reminds me of Leathal Weapon 2, when Danny Glover’s character causes a distraction by pretending to want to immigrate to apartheid South Africa. The consulate or ambassador responds…..”But your’re bleack.”

  14. Von Cracker

    Now that’s funny, meat.

    I’m thinking more of a poker scenario….

“I see your black guy and I raise you another black guy….”

The only way to increase the hilarity would be if Steele were gay….

  15. VC, they already had Ken Mehlman. (That is a statement, not a joke – We should actually congratulate the GOP for being so progressive, except that Mehlman remained in the closet and did nothing to change the Republican anti-gay agenda)

  16. Von Cracker

Wow, I completely forgot about Ken!

    A very deep, dark closet…..

  17. FSP

Due to your concerns, we decided to take Mr. Steele down and replace him with the true leader of our party.

  18. FSP

Pandora — I updated the picture with something more apropos.

  19. nemski

Thanks for making me laugh Dave. Really, I mean that.

It is true that Jason could unite the Republican party.

  21. FSP

Jason? I thought it was Newt Gingrich!
