Clueless Carper Courts Cajun Country Corpse
What stupid shit did Senator for Life, Tom Carper, say today? Well, while campaigning for “dead woman walking” Mary Landrieu, a fake Republican about to lose to a real Republican, Carper said that he still expects his show of bipartisanship to be “reciprocated” by grateful Republicans. Also, the Keystone Pipeline is still the root cause of all DC dysfunction (in-case you were wondering).
Carper stumps for Landrieu in Louisiana
Matthew Albright, The News Journal 2:06 p.m. EST December 1, 2014Sen. Tom Carper was in Louisiana on Monday trying to build support for embattled Democratic colleague Sen. Mary Landrieu as she faces a tough run-off election.
Carper visited schools in New Orleans that were ravaged by hurricanes and rebuilt using federal money, according to a news release from Landrieu’s office. He highlighted Landrieu’s “record in fighting for the area, which includes delivering $1.8 billion in education funding to rebuild schools destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita,” the release said.
Carper’s visit comes after his controversial vote for legislation authorizing construction on the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry tar sands oil from Canada to refineries along the Gulf Coast.
Local environmentalists blasted that vote, arguing tar sands are some of the dirtiest fuels on earth and constructing the pipeline would further worsen global climate change. Those critics said Carper, who has a long record supporting environmental and anti-pollution laws, voted to help Landrieu find support in Louisiana, where the oil industry is a major economic driver.
Carper said he had voted for the pipeline because debate over the proposal was blocking any other attempts at “green” legislation and said he hoped his compromise would be reciprocated sometime later by Republicans.
Well, Tom, in January there will be 46 D’s in the Senate, and you need 60 votes to approve anything of significance. Can you name 14 Republicans who, in the name of bipartisanship, will do you a favor?
I think the record indicates it will be easier for the R’s to get 7 D’s like you to do backflips on their behalf.
I know. It is despicable, this lie..this fantasy he has about the GOP’s willingness to reciprocate if Democrats just compromise a little more.
It is disgusting. It spits in the face of reality.
Tom says: I’ll be bipartisan, so you should be too.
GOP says: We don’t have to be bipartisan, we’ve got you on our side now.
Amazing. 16 years in the Senate and he has yet to figure out that it’s not Delaware 1992, when he could just swap jobs with Mike Castle.
Delaware is in deep shit.
True. This is one of my best headlines though, so there is that.
LOl.
The whole nation is in trouble. We’re building our whole life and future on dirty fossil fuel. Social security is based on an ever growing young population, Medicare is in financial trouble, the democrats are largely inept and corrupt and the republicans are far worse, college cost are out of hand, houses cost way too much. I fear for my kid
