If we actually have any readers that have had multiple children I am wondering:

How long were you in labor for each child?

Thanks.

First took 18 hours on loads of pitosin(sp). Second was too close for comfort (2 hours). I like the upholstery in my car enough that we stopped at 2. I don’t know nuthin’ bout birthin’ no babies.

  2. Disbelief says:

Didn’t feel a thing. Labor lasted through 3 back-issues of People, and the editorial page of a 5 month old News Journal.

    Thanks for asking though.

  3. anon says:

I expect to be in labor at least until they are eighteen, probably longer.

  4. pandora says:

Sorry, emergency C-section followed by a scheduled C-section.

  5. Nosy says:

Eight hours for first and about 6 hours for the second. I did have a shot of Demerol for both but that only lasted a couple of hours (great stuff btw ). I did not want an epidural (I figured I was in enough pain as it was without sticking a freaking needle in my spine!) Both experiences were wonderful! I am so glad that I’m a woman and able to experience child birth. Sappy, I know, but true.

You gotta love Geek–He did everything for those kids but nursed them. Mrs. Geek has a gem in you!

    This will take a bit:
    #1- 24 hours, then mandated C-Section
#2- 24 hours, then RUN down the hall for C-section, which converts to horrible forceps delivery, with resultant trauma
#3-Only 20 hours, at which time my husband was sent to get the car w/ camera and suitcase, because of “false labor”, and returned with the wheelchair to find out there were now 2 of us.
    #4-Getting better..6 hours..a dream..no drugs..oh is that how you push?
#5-Breech-10+ pounds. Two weeks post dates-because “insurance” said we had to wait in case baby turned. Hail Mary, the baby turned, to all surprised–and I was still C-sectioned.
#6 We will never know. And gonna keep it that way.
And Hef-why the heck do you ask? This is usually some girls’ weekend away stuff.

  7. hmmmm, seems like we may be onto something with Sarah Palin being in labor for 24 hours aftr her waterbroke after all…

    keep em coming

  8. For me…

    The ex-viti

    #1 Induced 20+ hours
    #2 Not induced 12+14
    #3 about 6

  9. nemski says:

DV, you’re forgetting that Palin comes from Alaska. Their women are of a heartier stock. 😉

  10. Joanne Christian says:

And she probably was going to deliver herself.

  11. Stella Bluez says:

1st— 23 hrs– no epidural (might slow it down more)–sheer hell (posterior delivery).

2nd—3 hrs– barely got to the hosp fast enough–no epidural (things were moving too fast)– sheer hell (posterior delivery).

3rd–No hosp, by choice, midwife pregnancy care & delivery. 6 hr labor–no epidural (duh)–
still hell, but MUCH more pleasant.
Woke up in my bed pregnant that morning, went to bed in my bed that same night with babe in arms. (I’m a nurse I spend enough time in hospitals).

off the subject a bit but the cartoon at the bottom of today’s editorial page reminded me of some people on this blog
