It’s because I got my email late. 😉

  2. Randy Nelson says:

Forgive me for taking credit…but, Delaware Talk Radio broke the story an hour before our friends at WDEL. But give them credit for following up.

    Selander

No one listens to delaware talk radio… If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear it… It doesn’t make a sound.

  5. jason330 says:

Markell gave it a shot, but found out soon enough that REPUBLICANS SUCK!!!

  6. anonomous says:

    Will it be Stephanie McClellen?

It would certainly be a refreshing change to have a person in the Governors office that is very well educated on meaningful planning and land use issues. She also has experience with local government governance of land use.

Most importantly, she has very high ethical standards, much like Markell. She could be a key element of the “change we need”.

  7. Randy Nelson says:

anan. The beauty of the Internet is we know exactly how many people are listening and where. My guess is we have a lot more people listening to us than you have listening to you in Southern Delaware. Have a nice day.

  8. Unstable Isotope says:

I know Rochford was not a popular choice among Democrats. Why is he out?

  9. anan says:

    Anon – she’s also hot.

Randy – considering I don’t have a radio station, I’d hope you do. But I have a feeling that I could call someone in sussex county and have close to 1/10th of your listenership right there. A conference call would probably be your peak…

  10. El Somnambulo says:

Randy broke the story. That’s where El Somnambulo saw it first. Credit where credit’s due.

And Randy did not shoot down the Stephanie McClellan idea. Most thought she’d have a spot in the Administration, so maybe it has come to pass.

  11. anan says:

Randy – no it doesn’t actually. For one thing, that’s from october. For another, there’s no details associated with that map, as in the time period from which that data was taken, what each circle represents. Etc.

The lack of specifics would lead me to believe that it represented the geographic distribution for the sum total of time up to that point. Each small circle is one person and it just shows who visited the site… Not how long they stayed or if they ever came back.

    Sorry bud, calling bullshit.

  12. Kilroy says:

    So it’s true!

  13. FSP says:

Anan — Do you really want to get in a pissing match with a guy who just broke his fourth major news story in three months, and who has people like Tom Carper calling in unscheduled and unannounced on the listener line from DC to debate the bailout?

The only people who take the attitude that you do all work for a certain radio station who can’t hold Randy’s jock.

  14. are you saying you hold randy’s jock?

  15. RSmitty says:

No, DV. That’s real rude of you.

    He hand washes it.

  16. RSmitty says:

    RN/FSP –
You know, when you take away their only “exclusive” guest from a certain rep district down there, the only thing they have left is to anonymously troll the internet to throw shoes at you. They need to do something for all that dead air!

  17. nemski says:

the only thing they have left is to anonymously troll the internet to throw shoes at you.

    LOL . . . throw shoes . . . who’d have thunk it

  18. Joanne Christian says:

Would some big thinker out there please post this to the OUT/IN list post started here a few days ago. I need solutions. Thanks…

  19. RSmitty says:

Hmm…some timing things here…first, recall that Maria Evans was profoundly concerned about Rockford’s association with the contingent in favor of deepening/dredging the DE River.

Now, we get Rochford stepping aside. Within the delaware online article announcing this, we get the following snippet…

When I agreed to accept the job, I assured the governor that I would be able to do that. Since that time, work and family commitments have surfaced that I need to keep and that, sadly, prevent me from being able to serve the governor in the kind of capacity that he would need.

    Work commitments?

    Hmm…this also hit delawareonline today.

Certainly can be a coincidence, but one that provokes thought.

  20. Alan Muller says:

    Stephanie McClellan instead or Rochford?

To me this would be a disturbing choice.

She’s a member of a scumbag outfit called the New Castle County Council, and has long been immersed in the slime of NCC politics.

  21. jason330 says:

She’s a member of a scumbag outfit called the New Castle County Council,

That made me laugh because it is true. There is no way not to be tainted by an ffiliation with NCC which makes it all the more curious that someone with ambition and smarts like Chris Coons would take that route.

Although, as I think of it now – Joe Biden was affiliated with that scumbag outfit for a bit and did okay for himself.

  22. Anon2 says:

I like Stephanie, but land use has NOTHING to do with state government so those are not the qualifications to consider for Jack’s right hand person.

Whoever it is better be strong on building relationships with a whacked out Legislature (speaking of the Senate here) in order to push an agenda that involves economic development and digging out of the hole we’re in now.

  23. Joanne Christian says:

Jason, I don’t EVER remember Joe Biden being affiliated w/ NCC. Please elaborate, because if so, it was a way different atmosphere. This “contention” has only been in the last decade or so; inherited by Coons; w/ the exception of WFH. Again, I openly admit to being a Coons fan, but he does have to execute what the Council brings him.

  24. Joanne Christian says:

By the way, who won the land council seat down here (4th district)?

  25. Bill Dunn says:

I perceive Stephanie as a dramatically different possible candidate for CoS when compared to Dennis Rochford. To the liberal in me, that’s a good thing.
On the other hand, her deeply rooted social liberalism could be too significant to allow her to fully represent Jack’s economic pragmatism and how that will play out in the Governor’s office.
It will be interesting to see what Jack will do next. I’m thinking a David Singleton type of candidate. Someone with State/County/Municipality administrative experience and an ability to keep the office running.

  26. Lee Ann says:

My guess is that Stephanie will be Jack’s overall policy director. I like Dave Singleton – I worked with him when he was Secretary of Finance and he had tremendous energy and interest in a range of issues beyond finance. He was part of the productive Early Years that everyone has forgotten about. He sure doesn’t need the job, money or headaches, though.
