Kovach to launch an 11th-hour challenge of Karen Hartley-Nagle
Why start 100 yards behind the starting line? The DEGOP is in complete disarray, that’s why.
Tom Kovach considers a write-in campaign for NCCo council president
By James Morrison • 16 hours agoA bipartisan coalition is encouraging Republican Tom Kovach to run as a write-in candidate in the race for New Castle County Council President against Democrat Karen Hartley-Nagle.
Hartley-Nagle is currently unopposed after winning the Democratic primary for the office earlier this month.
FWIW – I get it, but this has a zero probability of being successful.
He could have been placed on the ballot by the party, had he been more decisive. He might have won, too.
disarray, noun
1. a state of disorganization or untidiness.
“The DEGOP was in disarray.”
synonyms: disorder, confusion, chaos
^^^This (@Dem19703 post). It is remarkable that no one was thinking about this, unless they were thinking that there was no way Penrose would lose. Even so…..
I like Tom Kovach a lot more than the average R, but this is pathetic.
The number of people who will take the time to write in his name is miniscule.
I will, though. Karen Hartley-Nagle doesn’t have the brains God promised a billy goat. Of course, the job isn’t important — if Chris Bullock could do it, it’s unimportant by definition — but it’s the principle of the thing. She has no qualifications for the job.
I’m not gonna vote for her either. But it’s pathetic that the R’s didn’t even field a candidate for this office. There’s no way a write-in campaign can succeed. Why Kovach, who had sat out this election, would jump in for a hopeless run, is beyond me.
WE can only hope that there is a more qualified candidate, that comes around for the POTUS!!
2 losers lol, isn’t he a land use attorney?
He also voted for Barley Mill after he campaigned against it. No way
Remember, not only do you have to write in the name, but it also has to be spelled correctly. That makes his winning even less likely.
Fyi, word on the street is that Dennis E. Williams is looking to do the same. In his case, though, he’s not going for a win. He just wants to pull enough votes from Matthews so Judy Travis beats him.
Karen Hartley Nagle has no qualifications for this job — none. She has no qualifications for any job from what I can tell.
She got involved in politics because a judge ruled against her in a child custody case. She claimed it was because her ex-husband was politically connected, so she decided to get involved in politics to gain power. That’s it. That’s her reason for being involved in politics at all.
As I said, she can’t do much harm in a pointless position. It’s the principle for me — if you don’t know what you’re doing, I won’t hire you. I’d rather hire someone I dislike who can do the job. One Republican won’t ruin that circus anyway.
Dennis E. Williams is the upstate version of John Atkins.
Little-known fact: He applied to WDEL for a job hosting a talk show.
Look I agree she has no brains but he lied about Barley Mill when he ran, that’s why I voted for him. I will never make that mistake again.
Dennis Williams. Presumably many of his staunchest supporters, if there were such things, voted for Travis last time after a relatively close primary between Matthews and Williams.
So, after getting royally skunked this time, he’s gonna stage a write-in campaign in hopes of swinging the election to Travis? I may be dense, but wouldn’t it make more sense for him to endorse Travis so that his 12 diehards vote for her instead of him?
If I ever do a book on the perennial candidates who feel compelled to run every two years, Williams will have a chapter. In reality, the fact that he and KWS actually got elected proves that there’s an exception to every rule. KHN will fall into the same category.
Your choice, obviously. I prefer a competent liar to an honest dope.
She will win easily, of course. I cast a lot of protest votes anyway, so what’s one more?
@lori: Why are you against the redevelopment of Barley Mill?
That makes it tougher for me anonymous when you say it that way LOL
It was overturned anyway because a Superior Court Judge found Bob Weiner (what we’ve known all along) arbitrary and capricious in his vote.
I think Kovach is never going to make it as a politician. I’ve met him, and he lacks the glad-handing gift of gab that marks a natural. And I like KHN as a person, so I’m not upset that she’s going to win or anything. As I said, it’s the principle of the thing.
Yes dem 19703 but he wanted it to pass that’s all.
Anonymous I am against Barley Mill because Tom Gordon and Nancy Willing said so
Kovach is going nowhere FAST…he got elected state rep and then thought he could run for Congress…delusional,,,,He got beat in his own district….hes full of himself.
..and yet he’d have been the favorite in this match-up if he had started earlier. That he didn’t is a sure sign of a party in complete disarray.
