#WhyWomenDontReport
Exhibit A:
A day after Jessica Leeds accused Donald Trump of sexual assault in a story reported by the New York Times, Fox Business anchor Lou Dobbs used his large audience on Twitter — roughly 797K followers — to advertise the woman’s New York address and telephone number.
Exhibit B:
“Take a look. You take a look. Look at her. Look at her words. You tell me what you think. I don’t think so. I don’t think so.” – Donald Trump

Take a look at another why — Ben Carson tries to silence a woman who is *just asking* about Trump’s sexual assaults :
“Stop,” Carson said, referring to Kay. “Hey, can you turn her microphone off, please?”
“Do you guys have a plug, please?” (Again referring to Kay)
What a fraud. “I would love to talk about morality (just not now.)”
Anita Hill weighs in:
And she’s right that we haven’t even discussed the well-being of these women.
I have tried to write here three times … erased them all.
Women don’t report it, near as I can tell, for three reasons–
1) They can actually lose more in reporting rape/assault than they lost by being raped or assaulted, even when their stories are believed.
2) The default reaction of the majority of American men (including, and especially, those in power–and including liberal, libertarian, progressive men as well as conservative men) is not just the presumption of the innocence of the accused, but the presumption of the guilt of the accuser.
3) We spend more time telling our daughters how not to get raped than we do in making our sons understand their responsibility not only for not being rapists, but in not turning away when they see it happening.
“2) The default reaction of the majority of American men (including, and especially, those in power–and including liberal, libertarian, progressive men as well as conservative men) is not just the presumption of the innocence of the accused, but the presumption of the guilt of the accuser.”
This. Look at Trump’s statement today about President Obama:
“He’s talking about me like he knows me,” Trump told supporters in Greensboro, North Carolina. “I don’t know him, he doesn’t know me and why doesn’t some woman maybe come up and say what they say falsely about me, they could say about him. They could say it about anybody. They could say it about anybody. He better be careful because they could say it about anybody.”
This is the classic women lie trope that far too many men buy into. What Trump is saying here is that all men are in danger of being accused of sexual assault because women lie about this stuff all the time because women are lying liars.
I wrote a while ago that when it comes to Trump and women it’s all about whether he’d “do” her or not. And… I was right.
At this point it’s he said/she said, she said, she said, she said, she said, she said and she said. Who you gonna believe?
As somebody already said (ouch), you have to choose between the man who said he groped women and the women who say he groped women. I believe them both.
There’s something eerily Cosby-like to this whole situation.
He better be careful because they could say it about anybody.
I heard this as a threat. Ad if he was looking for someone who he could pay to make accusations.
“He better be careful because they could say it about anybody.”
It could never happen here.
Leave it to puck to equate the idea that women should be taken seriously when they report sexual assault with … McCarthyism. (Follow the link.)
Of course in restating puck’s argument that women reporting sexual assault are the equivalent of Tail Gunner Joe attempting to destroy tens of thousands of American lives for political gain I will be accused of putting the words he used into his mouth.
If it is the classic “man line”, I really don’t think any man is going to buy it now… Deplorables, maybe. But not any man…
Yeah, Kavips, that’s not what I said.
McCarthyism?
Because men are victims, here, you know.
🙄
McCarthyism?
What the hell is the matter with some of you people???
Trump is OBVIOUSLY guilty as hell. There’s hardly a shred of doubt.
What we have here is 30% of nation as liars pretending to not believe the obvious.
Here.. Read the letter from Madeline.
