Ben: It’s still kinda early to freak out. But some of us (I think you included) knew in the back of our minds that this *could* be close. Too close for comfort, even.
She’s gonna lose Florida. I think she’s gonna lose one of those midwestern states. Trump and a Republican Senate will be able to fill a bunch of Supreme Court seats.
I was dismissed earlier this week for pointing out that the campaign failed to deliver an economic message and a Trump-As-Deadbeat message to working class whites. Bottom line: They didn’t seek those votes and they didn’t get enough of those votes to blunt Trump’s margins.
Don’t blame non-degreed white men when the campaign didn’t even make a play for any of that vote.
Still waiting to find out results of presidential race, but I do want to say — sorry, but I can’t resist — that I predicted correctly about Sussex. Take note Mitch Crane :
“Del Dem is right. Sussex is one of the top 10 Trump counties in the country, and they will be out en masse to support their man. The 20th and the 37th will stay R, and the 14th will be competitive at best, but it may go R. If Pete does win, he will likely lose in 2018 when there is a Hillary backlash year and Dems don’t turn out. We will be facing a pure Red Sussex going forward — and that includes losing the one D county council seat as well.”
Pete did win with 64%, but it is amazing how well his opponent did, given he just moved here 3 years ago and barely campaigned.
This happened in the United Kingdom in 1992. Polls before election and exit polls showed Labour Party tied or ahead, but final result was a Conservative win for John Major. Pollsters concluded that people were embarrassed to admit they would vote Conservative after the debacle of Thatcher’s last days, the ERM, etc., but when they got in the voting booth it was another story!

WE ARE FUCKED. Well here you go America. Here’s your own little Brexit vote wrapped in a nice layer of misogyny , racism, homophobia and fear. It’s going to be a long four years.
If Trump wins, I truly believe it is going to be on one huge thing he promised the American people. He said he would dump Common Core. Before the laughter begins, Delaware embraced Common Core much more readily than many other states. I belong to many Facebook groups throughout the country, in pretty much every single state. And there is a HUGE group of people out there that want Common Core GONE. For those who say education is important but not a crucial factor in an election, think again. It looks like more Americans would vote for a thug like Donald Trump who will put the kibosh on corporate education reformers dreams as opposed to Hillary who, to the best of my knowledge, never said the words Common Core.
I said that this election was going to be closer than anyone could imagine months ago. I also said that as a union construction worker, that at least half would vote for trump. What I got was banned for my unpopular posts.
He will win because of immigration.
He will win because of education reform.
He will win because of health care reform.
He will win because of the economy.
He will win because of failed foreign policy.
He will win because people are tired of the status quo.
If people feel that they are going to lose the farm, they might as well take a wild bet to save it.
Clinton is holed up in her bunker and the Trump juggernaut is three blocks away. GO TRUMP. Crooked Hilary is cooked. Good Riddance to incompetence, lies and corruption.
America, just as in 1980, refuses to accept reality and opts for grandiose promises instead. The Republic will stumble on, but I fear we will pursue policies that will bring on the Depression we barely missed in ’09.
Sore losers…The People are tired of failed policies. Hilary had nothing to offer but more of same. We are taking our country back from the globalists and socialists. WE have a lot of work to do.
Just want to say Thank You to Kevin Ohlandt for allowing me to laugh out loud this morning: “If Trump wins, I truly believe it is going to be on one huge thing he promised the American people. He said he would dump Common Core.”
Yup… You’re right, Kevin. Donald Trump is our next President because he promised to dump Common Core.
Brings to mind a phrase: “If you only have a hammer…”
But, in hindsight, I think that, were Biden the nominee, he would have won. He was pretty much the only D surrogate even speaking to disaffected white working class voters.
And he had a greater claim to the Obama legacy than Clinton ever did.
Tonight starts the reversal of the great transfer of wealth from the private sector to the public sector that FDR started 80 years ago. Tonight we start transferring the wealth from the public sector, back to the private sector, where it belongs and does the most good, and lifts the most people out of poverty.
My prediction, Clinton at 283
MSNBC is already projecting races. I know it’s crazy this early, but I got a stomachache when it said Trump 19 and Clinton 3.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!!!!!!!
These 1% reporting is bullshit
I don’t drink. Could somebody get drunk for me?
This early stuff is so silly. 1% indeed.
I got you AQC! Cracking open #1 now!
Nc. NH. OH. FL. That is the whole enchilada.
What kind of enchilada are we talking here? Red sauce, Mike, Tomatillo? That shit matters with the country on the line!
50% reporting in Florida and HRC only up 0.2%!
I’ve got too much to do tomorrow to drink as much as I may need to!
Wait… Now it’s 60% reporting and tied!
MAKE IT STOP!!!
Missouri exit polls show Clinton losing, but Kander with perhaps an edge in the Senate race. Big gender gap there as well…
Florida 84% in Trump up by a fraction of a percent in Florida.
That’s bad. The panhandle isn’t voting for Clinton.
MSNBC projects house control remains with the Republicans. (not really a surprise there)
Trumps lead extends to 60k votes in Florida with 91% in
HIllary running far behind in Virginia.
True, but the counties bordering DC (typically heavy democrat areas) are all <20% reporting. They might make up the difference (hopefully).
Where the bleep is Hillary’s Florida safety net? Doesn’t look like she’s got this yet. Hordes of white exurban voters.
And Virginia is in play. Trump could really win this. I’m gonna stop drinking now.
Patti Blevins trails with about half the districts reporting.
This is fucked.
McCain re-elected.
Looks like Blevins is going down. McDowell, Sokola, and Ennis will survive.
Didn’t see that one coming.
This is way too close. What’s going on.
Blevins going down is a pretty big loss. As is (for public education) Sokola’s re-election.
Ben: It’s still kinda early to freak out. But some of us (I think you included) knew in the back of our minds that this *could* be close. Too close for comfort, even.
What comes around goes around Patty….
With Blevins losing her seat that makes BHL special election a huge race.
When can we start blaming Johnson for Florida?
On MSNBC, I’m hearing mental gymnastics trying to defend what we’re seeing in the total vote so far.
Blame black voters for Florida. Total vote running well below 2012 numbers.
Market futures down 500+
“Blame black voters for Florida.”
I’m blaming white men. How’s that?
Go ahead. Won’t be the first time you’re wrong.
Really? Why is every other group responsible for saving us, except white men?
People who didn’t show up to vote against Trump are as guilty as people who voted for him.
State of Delaware: Democrats will keep their majority in the senate:
http://elections.delaware.gov/results/html/election.shtml
http://www.delawareonline.com/story/news/politics/2016/11/08/general-assembly-results/93429846/
Blevins got complacent.
They might keep their majority for all of 12 weeks until the special election for BHL’s seat wraps…
She’s gonna lose Florida. I think she’s gonna lose one of those midwestern states. Trump and a Republican Senate will be able to fill a bunch of Supreme Court seats.

Ohio called for Trump.
Virginia to Clinton
Colorado to Clinton.
EX- Senator Blevins : All those trucks just got diverted through her living room tonight!

Clinton at 209. She needs PA, MI, and FL or NC.

Russ Feingold goes down…that hurts.
North Carolina to Trump. This shit is ridiculous.

Bayh lost & Feingold lost &Deborah Ross lost ….stop giving us the old retreads! they always lose.
Senate situation not great.
Florida to Trump. Utah to Trump. Trump at 222 electoral votes.
Iowa….Trump. Trump leads in NC and Ohio and Michigan.
Unbelievable
WE ARE FUCKED. Well here you go America. Here’s your own little Brexit vote wrapped in a nice layer of misogyny , racism, homophobia and fear. It’s going to be a long four years.
Georgia to Trump
James Carville speaking the truth: Republican control of Congress & the White House = Goodbye Obamacare & Dodd-Frank for starters.
Trump is within 4,000 votes of Clinton in Pennsylvania.
Trump in the lead in Pennsylvania: 2,400 votes

Several sources have now called PA for Trump. That’s 264. Alaska makes 267.
He’d have to lose WI, AZ, and MI now.
It’s over.
Hillary just conceded!!!!!!!!! she called Trump. Dana Bash just reported
America, just as in 1980, refuses to accept reality and opts for grandiose promises instead. The Republic will stumble on, but I fear we will pursue policies that will bring on the Depression we barely missed in ’09.
“Good Riddance to incompetence, lies and corruption.”
And hello to more incompetence, lies and corruption. Same as the old boss.
Sore losers…The People are tired of failed policies. Hilary had nothing to offer but more of same. We are taking our country back from the globalists and socialists. WE have a lot of work to do.
Thanks Pennsylvania!
Good luck with that.
The Deplorables have spoken.

Yes, but so did all the people, including those that stayed home and did not vote.
I still don’t understand how voting Trump solves the frustration with the establishment.
Congress was re-elected. To me this confirms Trump supporters have no idea how the federal government works.
Hindsight’s 20-20.
But, in hindsight, I think that, were Biden the nominee, he would have won. He was pretty much the only D surrogate even speaking to disaffected white working class voters.

Thanks for the laugh Rusty. I needed that.
Guess that means you’re going to be a poor mofo like the rest of us, Rusty…
“The deplorables have spoken.”
Yes they have. And they said what they always do. That’s why they’re deplorable — which they still are, even if they are a majority.
We may be deplorable , but you and Hillary are despicable.
You better get to work, Bubba. There’s gonna be lots of vegetables for you to pick.
