More Delaware GOP Disarray!

Filed in Delaware by on October 3, 2012 16 Comments

The NJ reports that the GOP candidate for Lt. Governor is teaming up with Alex Pires to campaign at an event on Saturday in Newark. Go read that again. The local GOP candidate for Lt. Governor (R-She Didn’t Build That) is NOT campaigning with her party’s nominee for the Senate ( wingnut wannabe Kevin Wade), but with the Independent candidate, Alex Pires.

More Delaware GOP FAIL

Filed in National by on October 3, 2012 10 Comments

The hapless Delaware GOP has decided to show the world just how toothless they currently are by deciding to try to gin up some pressure on Governor Jack Markell to not take a job that he doesn’t have an offer for yet. Seriously — this is what they want to talk about *today*. Remember, Politico posted up their highly speculative article, guessing that Gov. Markell would be selected for Secretary of Education in President Obama’s second term on September 14 (and Delaware Dem wrote about it the same day). 19 days later, GOP Chair Siglar and Gov. candidate Jeff Cragg are haplessly demanding that Governor Markell pledge to serve out his full term. More weak sauce from the Delaware GOP.

Breaking: No IDs Required to Vote in Pennsylvania

Filed in National by on October 2, 2012 9 Comments

This just in, and it is good news for the good guys — the lower courts judge who was required to review an earlier decision has made his ruling, mostly leaving the law in place, but noting that if you show up to vote and have no ID, you are allowed to vote. There’s more to come, I’m sure, but this seems to be the nut of it:

Predict the Post Debate Media Narrative!

Filed in National by on October 2, 2012 11 Comments

As Robert Wright notes in his Atlantic article, The Coming Romney Comeback Narrative, the media doesn’t much like a static political narrative. It is the unfortunate byproduct of the horse race reporting they are fond of and the need to capture eyeballs. Wright posits multiple paths that the media narrative may go after tomorrow’s debate (although it is worth it to read his entire article), but jump in the comments to make your own prediction of the new drama the media will be working on after tomorrow’s Presidential Debate.

QOTD — Early Voting for Delaware?

Filed in Delaware by on October 1, 2012 25 Comments

There’s two kinds of early voting — absentee ballots and the in-person voting (but with limited venues open). Delaware only lets you vote absentee — and even then you need to sign an affidavit with an “excuse” for not being available on Election Day. But if you are following the news, then you know that in-person early voting is starting to ramp up. Should Delaware change its rules for early voting?

The Bipartisan Case That Romney Was a Failure as Governor

Filed in National by on September 27, 2012 2 Comments

This video is pretty amazing, actually. And I don’t doubt this — you get the impression even now, that Romney cares about the office as a prize for him ans his people rather than a place to demonstrate some leadership.

Late Night Video — In Honor of the Wilmington Fringe Festival

Tonight’s selection of from the folks at Awkward Spaceship, who provided a martini-fueled dramatic reading of the contents of a Kraft Mac and Cheese box. Seriously weird, but seriously compelling. I just hope that this isn’t how I behave after a few martinis. And if I do, please don’t tell me.
