Support for candidates who voted for the health-care law has improved dramatically in recent months, a Washington Post/ABC News poll released Tuesday shows. The survey found respondents almost exactly split on the question of whether they would be more or less likely to vote for a congressional candidate who supports the Affordable Care Act, with 34% saying they would be more likely to vote for the candidate and 36% saying they would be less likely to do so. Some 27% said it would not make a difference.
In November, during the troubled launch of HealthCare.gov, just 21% said a candidate’s support for the law would make them more likely to vote for them, compared to 37% who said it would make them less likely to do so. A much larger percentage—40%—were indifferent. The hardcore 36-37% opposed to the law and thus opposed to anyone who says anything good about the law stayed basically the same, with all change come from those who were indifferent, who now love the law enough to say it will make it more likely that they will support a candidate who supports Obamacare. That is a 14 point net swing. That is huge for only four months. Imagine where we might be in another, or July....

Here are the results for Republican Senator Christine O'Donnell, oh wait, I'm sorry, Chris Coons: Strongly Disapprove - 47% Disapprove - 24% So a grand total of 71% disapprove of the neocon coward. 27% approve. 2% had no opinion or were 'meh.' Chris, if I wanted a neocon reactionary I would have voted for the witch. If I wanted a spineless shadow craver I would have cloned Tom Carper. My God, it just occurred to me. We have elected the short version of Joe Lieberman.

Our 62 District Strategy Chart is updated as I have removed Rep. Darryl Scott and added Sean Lynn's name there as candidate in the Democratic column. City Councilwoman Dorsey Walker has filed to primary Senator Bob Marshall in the 3rd Senate District. Does Senator Marshall retire, or face a much tougher primary this time around then he experienced last time. Representatives Bryon Short, Kim Williams, Larry Mitchell, and Earl Jaques have all filed for reelection. And Democrat Jeff Porter of Tavistock has filed to challenge Representative Debbie Hudson. Good. I was afraid I might have to run against her just to get a Democrat into the race. There is also a bit of a joke in the chart. A joke I now hope to turn into a reality... Also, will Delaware's most popular politician really not be on the ballot in 2016?

In one week, he has expressed an opinion about the Ukrainian crisis that should have come straight out of the mouth of Dick Cheney. And now he votes against a well qualified nominee because he is scared of something, though it is not precisely clear what. This is despite the fact that he faces no opposition for reelection. And even if he did, and his opponent championed this vote to approve this nominee as a reason to defeat Senator Coons, all he had to do is say that Adegbile is well qualified for the position and that his representation of Mumia was on constitutional issues after he was already convicted. And even still, is he not principled enough to stand up for the AMERICAN and CONSTITUTIONAL notion that every citizen, no matter what they are charged with, no matter their alleged crime, deserves a day in court and deserves representation by legal counsel? Is he that chickenshit to deny this basic right? Apparently so. We Delawareans desperately need to replace him in the Senate, for he does not possess the skill, principle or fortitude for the job.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job performance of U.S. Senator Tom Carper? Disapprove -- 67% Approve -- 26% Meh -- 7% Our Delaware Democrats in Congress need to wake up and realize it is no longer 1995. Or 2005. Democrats without any spine, courage or principle are not in fashion. And it doesn't win you elections. Senator Tom Carper prevented the Senate from taking up the minimum wage bill this month, adding to the long list of deeds where he has thwarted the Democratic majority or undermined a Democratic President. He should be condemned. The Carper contagion is not contained to one man, either. The supposed scholar Chris Coons has been infected. His two sins this week are legion and will be the subject of another post today.

So any notion that Flowers would be scared off running for reelecton was foolish, as he officially declares today that he is running for reelection, despite two expenses scandals and an idiotic confrontation with the Governor. Some Democratic Party operatives say that Flowers is an underdog in the primary. Those Democratic Party operatives are idiots. No, it is going to be VERY difficult to defeat Chip Flowers.

It usually starts as spring dawns in an election year. The retirements. Always there is a surprise. Last time, the surprise was Terry Schooley. This year, this might be it:
I have decided not to run for reelection this year. The obligations of my family and career outside the General Assembly have changed, and it is apparent to me that I will not be able to provide my constituents with the level of service they require and deserve beyond the end of my term this year. If you do this right, it is the fullest part-time job you will ever have.
