Are You Ready?

Throughout the weekend, Delaware Liberal will be posting threads for each county to report events as Hurricane Irene hits the state. If you have power, please let us know of conditions and damage that you observe.

Gawker can burn too…

Gawker is doing this sometimes funny, sometimes inane ranking of the states based on no criteria whatsoever. It is funny when they are talking about other more horrible states. But not when they talk about my beloved Delaware.

Charlie Copeland, on behalf of the people of Delaware, go straight to Hell and burn.

The impervious duPont heir thinks Governor Markell is wrong to think about people's safety and their well being, and has criticized the Governor for closing state offices in all three counties today at noon in advance of the hurricane, sending all non essential employees home to prepare for the storm and get to safety if they are under an evacuation order

The Battle of the Karens

Finally, Karen Hartley-Nagle is useful. She has filed suit against Karen Weldin Stewart, Elliott Jacobson, and temp agency Kelly Services, alleging they wrongfully terminated her for missing seven days of work to prepare for and attend court hearings in March. Hartley Nagle also accuses Jacobson on unwanted sexual advances. As you read this story, you will realize our new word for the day is "Adonishood."

Monday Open Thread

Not much on the local scene right now. On the national scene, Romney demolishes one mansion to build a bigger mansion, the Huntsman and GOP strategy for 2016, and Feingold bows out.

Libya

Good bye Qadaffi or Gaddafi, or however the hell you spell his name. Whether or not you think it was a good idea for the U.S. to get involved in the Libyan Civil War via the NATO airstrikes, you have to give credit to President Obama and his team. He took the risk, got criticized on the left and right for it (thoughtful criticism on the left, mindless opposition on the right), and just as with the mission to get Bin Laden, now that that intervention seems to be successful with the fall of the Gaddafi regime, he deserves credit.
