‘Having a Gun While Intoxicated’ Bill Fails by 1 vote.
Senate Bill 29, or more specifically Senate Substitute Bill 1 to Senate Bill 29, which would have made it illegal for individuals to possess loaded, un-stored and active firearms outside of their homes while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was just defeated in the Senate by a vote of 10 to 7. It takes 11 votes to pass a bill in the Senate. You will notice that there are four missing Senators, because the Senate has 21 members, and only 17 of them did their jobs tonight. Who are the four who decided not to vote on this bill?
Coons Calls for Change in Afghan Strategy
In an op-ed in the News Journal this morning, Sen. Chris Coons, arguing that the current strategy is unsustainable, is calling for a change in our mission in Afghanistan, from occupation and nation-building to a counterterrorism approach.

A Reminder to our General Assembly and our Governor.
We urge the Governor and the General Assembly to restore all spending cuts that have been proposed, eliminate all tax cuts that have been proposed, and keep the remaining surplus in a “rainy-day fund” while lawmakers and citizens have more time to review plans for our state agencies and policy priorities.
