President Bush trashed idiot son Jeb! Bush after the Republican presidential candidate shrugged off any need for government action in the wake of the massacre at a community college in Oregon, saying simply that “stuff happens.”

Said Obama: “The American people should hear that and make their own judgments based on the fact that every couple of months, we have a mass shooting. They can decide whether they consider that ‘stuff happens.’”

James Fallows at The Atlantic:

There will be more of these; we absolutely know it; we also know that we will not change the circumstances that allow such episodes to recur. I am an optimist about most things, but not about this. Everyone around the world understands this reality too. It is the kind of thing that makes them consider America dangerous, and mad.

I consider every supporter of an absolute 2nd Amendment with no gun control measures of any kind to be terrorists. Their hands are dripping with blood, and I really would rather they use the guns they love so much on themselves.

Vice President Joe Biden “has extended his window for deciding whether to jump into the 2016 presidential campaign, several Democrats say, allowing the contest to play out even longer before he answers one of the biggest questions hanging over the race for the White House,” CNN reports.

“He is not preparing for the first Democratic debate on October 13 in Las Vegas and is not expected to participate, people close to him say, because he feels no pressure to reach a decision by then. He is likely to reveal his plans in the second half of October.”

Sigh. This is starting to get really annoying Joe, and I say that as someone who might be disposed to supporting you. You have less than 50 days to file for the New Hampshire primary. Are you gonna blow by that deadline too?

Sh*t or get off the pot.

Senator Coons Miffed that Hillary Forgot his Name.

Senator Coons Miffed that Hillary Forgot his Name.

His being miffed does point to somewhat of an ego, if he expected the Secretary of State to remember the name of a just elected Senator from a small state and also know enough about him to know his interest in Africa. I mean, this is the reaction of a Senator who has been working on Africa for a decade, not six months.

Vice President Joe Biden’s schedule over the last month looks a lot like that of a presidential candidate, the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Since the beginning of September, Mr. Biden has held events with nearly every Democratic constituency that would be critical to any White House bid—from women and African-American voters to environmentalists, Latinos and union workers… This weekend, Mr. Biden will deliver the keynote address at the annual dinner of the country’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organization, the Human Rights Campaign, and on Saturday, he spoke at a concert focused on combating global poverty that drew thousands of young people.”

Jonathan Capehart analyzes a potential Keven McCarthy speakership:

That House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) could become the chamber’s next speaker should give everyone pause. Neither he nor the nation will be freed from the passions of the far-right whose incessant revolts and “unrealistic” expectations forced Speaker John Boehner to gleefully choose to spend more time with his family. […] As I’ve said before, that there have been so many legislative failures should call into question not only McCarthy’s ability to count, but also whether he had Boehner’s best interests at heart.
